It's a collections office, I have almost $80 in fines from my library and they sent my info over to this company. The only think is that, I called them right back and it said that their office was closed. Which is why I looked up the company name. So, if you've got a significant fine, pay up. Haha

I've gotten a few calls from this office too, they are Unique National Debt Collection. I company used by libraries all around the US to try and collect on debts. I borrowed some great furry yiff porn books and never brought them back and ended up with a $125 in debt haha. I think I only got 3 calls before turning off my phone for a week (don't use it anyway) and after that never heard from them again.
They aren't the over active harrasing type of debt collectors, they just make a few lazy attempts than ruin your credit record and don't even remove it unless you bring lawsuit to them so if you're debt is low like mine just don't pay and they stop caring.

I keep getting calls from this number- "Unique Management." I am sick of their calling at all hours and would like to get them to stop since I have a "Do  not Call" on my phone. These jerks get away with violating that restriction by claiming to be market research

This is sooooo easy to stop. (1) Check your library record. (2) Pay your fines, or return anything that's overdue. (3) Or if you can't pay them and can't find your library materials, contact your library, explain your circumstances, and ask them if they will let you set up a payment plan. Getting a plan in place, even if payments are very small, will get your account back out of the Unique loop. Note: Do Not Call doesn't help. If you are getting these calls it's because you or someone in your family has a debt with the library. Resolve that and the calls go away.

You are a scumbag.  I use the library for many kids that are unable to afford such works.

Hope it gives you a great feeling knowing your ripping off kids.  Are you sooooo clever now?

Don't be maggot and call people scumbags for having late fees with libraries. Libraries are constitutionally funded. What they have late fees for is to deter hoarding and book theft. But the late fees are used to provide other forms of media access. I say, if the library was limited to books only, the late fees would be smaller. Buy your own computer and pay for Internet access like everyone else.   Stop forcing everyone else to pay for your wants(not needs).
Negotiate the late fee payoff with the library.

    First it's ..  Don't be A maggot.

Second, yes, they have late fees to stop scumbags from hoarding and book theft.  Correct.

Third, I DO have my own computer and pay for internet access.  How do you think I am here to start with!?
I pay out of my own pocket project work for a whole class (What if your child was in class and didn't have the correct materials?).  I said I used it for the less fortunate children.  Nothing about my wants.

I also don't recall talking about internet access for myself.  This is about children's NEEDS.  They need an education.  If you feel proud in taking a book away from a child so they can't learn or practice their reading skills, then I just hope you don't have kids of your own.

I agree to negotiate with the library if you do find yourself stuck.

I don't have late fees, as I return my BOOKS on time for other people to use and enjoy.   The library belongs to the public, not you.  Return your books scumbags.

    Do The Right Thang
Emily Taylor... you're my hero. If you genuinely consider people who accrue library fees to be "scumbags," you must be absolutely exhausted from judging the moral bankruptcy of our overall society on a daily basis. You're in a deuce of a pickle! In short, you're all wet. The library system will continue to fund the cultural education of crust punks, homeless perverts, and assorted degenerates, and you will continue to pick up the tab. [***], [***].

    Librarian with fines
Yes, you read my name right. I'm a librarian who has fines. It happens to the best of us. Being such, and seeing their has been such...err...lively discussion here, I wanted to chime in to point out that this company is sort of like a fake debt collector. Libraries hire them to scare people into paying their fines. Which you (and I) should by all means do.... (I'll give you three guesses as to where my tax return is going!) But don't worry about your credit score being affected just yet. Some libraries will eventually turn over your account to a "real" collection agency. At mine it's after 18 months of $25 or more in fines.
