Report a phone call from 815-753-6030 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- J| 8 repliesHello,
The call is from Northern Illinois University's College of Health and Human Sciences. I'm sorry that happened, sometimes there are tech problems because of people working remotely. It's about the Behavior Risk Factor Servailence System. It's health study sponsored by the Ilinos Department of Public Health and the CDC. It's in interview over the phone about your health. Results keep your county health department updated about what kinds of health issues are going on. - B-Edwards replies to J| 5 repliesThat is a scary name, eh? I am not convinced you are a legit poster. Behavior Risk Factor Servailence(sic); That sounds intrusive. Not thrilled with your excuse of "working remotely either. Also:
For one, if you know the call was valid, why are you looking it up here?
For two, that info strikes me as nobodies business, esp. not a county agency. Esp not through a college and then going to a county agency.
For Three, that sort of info would be of great interest to a scammer collecting info for future health related scams. Indian/Canadian Pharmacies, hearing aids, bogus insurance plans.
For Four, Numbers and names are easily spoofed in someone's caller ID. I also find it odd the OP did not mention what name was displayed in CID.
There is such a thing as Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System discussed on the CDC website, but I am not convinced the calls from this number are connected to that survey. If I got such a call and was inclined to share my personal health info, I would make sure I looked up a number I could call, a number I knew was good. Your privacy is worth protecting.
More Info: https://www.cdc.gov/brfss/index.html - J| 11 repliesI googled our number because I was bored. It's a voluntary health study. You don't have to particpate. We have very strict confidentiality rules, we don't sell numbers off to anyone else. All the information we colledt goes into aggregate form, so no one sees your individual responses. I know I can't convince you. If you want the calls to
You can tell the person who is calling to take you off our list. Or call the number back and talk to the supervisor on duty and tell them to stop calling. Unless there's a mistake the calls will immedeately stop. - JackReacher replies to J| 9 repliesSo you were bored 4 days later as well. I can see that you are not earning your money. Also you are taking too much time out here and you will lose on the ability to scam people. It even seems that you are replying to something that doesn't even exist. Now go crawl back under your rock troll.
- JackReacher replies to B-Edwards| 1 replyThe scammer came back. Up to you if you want to report it for removal or not.
- J replies to JackReacher| 8 repliesLOL! How am I a troll trying to scam you when I am literally telling you how to make the calls stop? If I was a scammer, wouldn't I be trying to convince you to talk to us? I don't want to waste a bunch of your and our time calling someone who won't answer, or doesn't believe we are legit. Who says I'm on this site while I'm supposed to be working?
- B-Edwards replies to J| 7 repliesYou keep saying "we." Do you have a mouse in your pocket or are you an direct or sub-contracted employee phishing for data? By hiding the exact nature of your interest in the matter, you are trollish.
The problem with your posts is you are defending That Which Is Indefensible. You are right, I don't believe you. History and current events have shown that "data" and "info", once collected does not get thrown in to some big pot where it is shaken, stirred and all mixed up. Data that carefully collected with specific health questions loses a large portion of its future value if its association to individuals is lost. Why would any organization toss out what could be so useful in the future? That don't make no sense.
Businesses and the business of government want those associations. Business for targeting ads and Government for tracking. All the bits are there: A phone number associated with a name and a cell phone that can be tracked and located.
Business and government LOVE cell phones, and LOVE the people who willingly download apps that provide data, and at the same time pay monthly bills for giving up their own privacy. So willingly that each day there are news stories about people who are so used to sharing everything, the bust themselves committing crimes. Loss of a sense of Self, of the private Self, is eroded more and more, and people do not notice. Any more than a lobster secure in a cold pot of water does not notice it is starting to get a bit warm in there...
You are trolling. Not a doubt. You might fool yourself but sensibly skeptical people are sensibly skeptical. If you are indeed working for this organization, you are my natural enemy and worthy of opprobrium. - JackReacher replies to B-Edwards| 4 repliesI like that word. Had to look it up. opprobrium.. Can I use it also? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
- JackReacher replies to B-Edwards| 1 replyYou forgot to add that the data collected, if his original post stated true facts, is not secure. These are college kids calling. I wouldn't doubt that the information is shared and tweeted or whatever they do with it. Further, suppose they call one of their friends and find out that person is HIV positive. Do you really think that they are going to keep their mouth shut about it?
- B-Edwards replies to JackReacher| 3 repliesCertainly! Fits this troll. Good word with a precise meaning. And you are 100% on security. Security these days has more to do with Who Gets the Leak and When than secure/not secure.
- JackReacher replies to B-Edwards| 1 replyI mean seriously, how many times have we heard the "I was bored so I looked up my work number" excuse? This one is certainly not anywhere close to being believable. I looked up that information and while some of it is correct I could find no reference to that school conducting surveys.
- Christa| 1 replyI called them back. It's some kind of health research. Pretty rude to call this close to 9pm.
