I receive a call from this number everyday. They typically hang up when I tell them that no one is available to take their call. However today, the caller was extremely rude and then followed it all up by hanging up on me. I tried to call the number back and it just rang for about five minutes. Is Merchant services the same as Prodigy Payment?

I just hung up the phone with the prodigy payment systems operator (Alyssa). She was very helpful in removing our name and number from their lists, and also agreed to look in to the rudeness of their salesmen when calling. While I highly doubt that will happen, at least she took us off of the list.

Got call didn't answer and no message left. Googled to this site. I have no credit cards.

I love it when they call when  I have the privacy to turn it around on them. As disgusting and perverted as I get them you would think they would flag my number and not call me anymore.

Called and asked for our CEO by name.  Had to put them on hold to answer 3 more incoming calls.  They hung up.

My office keeps getting calls from this number with a caller ID of Merchant Services. They want to speak to the owner about credit card & debit process machines which I have informed every person who calls that we don't even accept these types of payments!!!!!  The last two times they have called, although I have been very polite in the matter, the reps hung up on me immediately! How rude and what a waste of my time - TAKE MY DAMN NUMBER OFF YOU CALLING SYSTEM!!!!!!

All calls to a company mobile phone, never leave a message. The caller is invariably aggressive, rude  and is selling merchant services.

I called this number 818-450-5618 and got a voice mail for a Infotel Voice Mail system... I went through this system and got some guy named Christohper Smith's voice mail box.  I left him a nasty message because I don't like getting calls from this number, asking for my boss (by name) and when I tell you he's on the other line getting HUNG UP on (darn that hurts the ear).  So in "good faith" I will keep calling back and bug them too.  I can play and my number is a "place of business".  My boss does not know these people nor number.  Looks like I get some fun.  Just know people, I'll call you back I have ALL DAY and I hope if I bug them they will quit bugging the rest of you.  It only takes ONE.

Phoned with this fictional 'rate increase' crap.  Told them I had no desire to change merchant service co's.  The guy kept on.  I told him 'No...don't call back'.  He kept talking.  I told him I had a customer with me and would not talk further.  What a**es!!!!!    I'd never do business with someone like this.  It showed up, by the way, as MerchantSvcs.

Julie - I phoned them too and left a biting message and told them I'd hound them the way they've hounded me and waste their time just like they waste mine.   I told them that their name was mud on the internet and that no one in their right mind would do business with them.   I told them to remove my name.

"Merchant Services" is not a name, but rather a description.  
Many credit card processors offer gift card services, Point of Sale systems, check guarantee, electricity and accounting services.  By definition, this would mean that they offer "Services" to "Merchants".

And for those who don't know, here's a couple of issues....
Caller ID is worthless.  It can be spoofed, manufactured, faked and blocked.  If you have ISDN PRI lines, you program it to say whatever you want.  Alot of people think that it's set by the phone company to display the owner of the account.  In the corporate world, this is not true 80-90% of the time.

There is not National Do Not Call Registry for "Business to Business" calls.  The Registry protects consumers only.  Most companies will add you to an internal DNC list if you ask.

The BBB handles consumer complaints.
If a business is calling your business as a soliciation, you should answer the phone and tell them that you aren't interested.  Would you believe that the caller cannot read your mind?  
What you described is not harrassment and if it was, the BBB doesn't handle harassment cases.  If I were you, I'd dial 911
