Says message cannot be displayed - who, what and why?

A text message came through which said "Message unable to be displayed"

I keep getting these and within a minute my phone sends an MMS out. I don't see anything the phone only registers it in the log. Very worrying.

sort yourself out , imitating someone else and using this number 820202 to do it is sick , how do i know this , its called data log . Big mistake pretendin to be my ex though cos this narrows u down a lot don't it,

This number belongs to Tesco Mobile Call Centre as I have had 2 such calls, in the last couple of days, both saying message cannot be displayed.

Had the same message today from 820202. Am with 02 although have ordered a new phone with tesco(not yet recieved it)

First a little history leading to 820202. One of my mobile numbers (O2)  i have only used for advertising my motorbike. It is therefore unknown to friends or family, there is no current advert in place but i leave it switched on in case someone looks through an old issue of autotrader - bikes. No one has ever phoned me on that number unless enquiring about the motorbike. However, this morning i received a rather rude and crude text addressing someone called Rachel. It was from an unusual number starting with 035387146****, I erroneously bothered to reply simply saying that the recent text had been sent to a wrong number (ie: mine). There followed one text apologizing. Another text explaining the unusual number was Irish. Another text identifying the sender as Sarah. Another one opening with "Hi hun "  and asking me where in the UK I lived. Needless to say I had only replied as mentioned above to the 1st text, which I probably should have ignored. Then this afternoon I received two texts from 820202 saying incompatible text format. My mobile number before today may have received 2 or 3 calls inwards about the bike and today 03/01/2010 it has had this level of nuisance activity. Question is the 820202 number likely to be connected with todays dubious activity, as in some kind of scam?? I am an old married bloke

I had a text this very same text number 820202. I phoned O2 an they said just to send a text back saying "stop" this does not work as the number won't receive a reply. What is this number all about? Why doesn't the company know about it?

I believe its a virus that runs up gprs charges. It obviously only works on phones with gprs and so the message comes back as cannot be displayed.

I got a text too, spent some time tryin to work out what it is...

Its just O2 Picture message - free picture message that they send to people on their network as part opf advertisements. Phone's that recieve "Can not be displayed" are just not compatable, namely can not picture message.

I've had 2 txt messages from 820202 in the past couple of weeks both show "message cannot be displayed" when I opened them.  I tried to reply to the first one without success.  I just deleted the 2nd one.

Should I be concerned?  Is this some sort of virus and I'm just fortunate that my phone is too out of date to be affected?

Txt me numerous times all day, saying message cannot be displayed, real annoying!! Needs to be shut down!

I have just put my sim card into another phone after receiving several of these messages. I then got a message from 02 saying they were going to send me 2 texts in order to activate wap and mms and to save and then activate them. The 2 texts were exactly the same, I activated them and got someone to send me a picture message.

Still can't view it.

Received a message from 820202 "Message cannot be displayed" three times in 24 hours. Very annoying - more to receive unsolicited messages than not to to be able to read it.

I received this message today 5;30pm, it says '' message cannot be displayed'' . I have o2,so prob it's some problems with O2....
