- JackReacher replies to B-Edwards| 2 repliesThe hospital won't know about the doctor bill. Those are separate.
- B-Edwards replies to JackReacher| 1 replyIn that case, the posters could call the Doctors office.
On a side note, I have had invoices for doctors appear on hospital bills, often in the case of ER visits, sometimes in the case of a doctor that was reviewing results of hospital tests. Uncommon, but it has occurred in my experience. Any reason to send a bill seems to be the principle. Can't say if this varies state to state. - JackReacher replies to B-EdwardsI haven't been to the ER in over a decade but there were separate bills for the ER/hospital stay and the doctors
- LaloSalamanca replies to JackReacherWhy do you people keep saying this? No, your personal information is very much important to scammers. They absolutely do want innocent victims’ credit card numbers and social security numbers etc. How else would they steal your money without some personal information?

- Scarlet| 1 replyI recently received a similar text from this phone number that I’ve verified to be a scam with both hospital and physicians billing office—nothing is owed. The hospital told me that pay.teamhealth.com is a legitimate billing website (Jack is correct in that). In my received text this was followed by /I/12digitnumber/ that I think must cleverly send you elsewhere. I did not click the link.
- Call type: Debt collector
- JackReacher replies to ScarletNo, those extra numbers take you to the page where your bill is. By the way did you contact the billing department for every physician that might have seen you as well as the ones that you don't know about such as the doctor who reads and writes the report on things like X rays, MRI, CT, etc.?
- ScarletI want to circle back to say that after I first posted I finally received an insurance statement for what was processed for my husband last month. Once I steeled myself to click the text link I was finally able to match up the little bit that was owed with a statement (unexpected since we were way over maximum out of pocket). So I’m eating crow, Jack. There are many complaints and fraud inferences online for TeamHealth overbilling, which also scared me, and warnings from BBB about medical fraud in general. But in my case the charge was legitimate. I’d advise folks to work closely with their insurance company to figure things out. I really, really hate that particular text alert format.

- TxMemaw replies to JackReacher| 1 replyIf this is legit then a bill should be mailed with what we are being billed. The text said you may receive a bill in the mail. Well, I’m still waiting for it to show up.
- JackReacher replies to TxMemawI doubt that you will receive a bill in the mail unless you request one. For some reason this is how doctors and hospitals are doing their billing and receipts now. I have the same thing at my hospital. Since they are not getting paid as much by the insurance companies they are trying to save every penny they can and with the cost of paper, toner, envelopes and postage it is expensive to send bills out. If you feel that my research is wrong then you are welcome to check it yourself. I'm sure that when you don't pay the bill it will show up on your credit report and a debt collector will be calling you.
- Not sureNot sure who this is, texted asking for money, never did business with anybody by that name before.
