    Please bring back sanity

I just wrote this letter to FCC.

    Dear FCC:

I would like to suggest that SURVEY TAKERS, POLITICAL, and CHARITY callers are required to abide by the Do Not Call rules. These companies, especially survey takers abuse the privacy and peace of one's home.  During election periods it is totally unbearable non-sense.
I have received calls from the same numbers (as it appears on my caller I.D.) even after kindly asking them to remove my number from their list.

They say they are exempt from the Do Not Call rules and often call more than once a day, even on Saturdays and Sundays and have called after 9p.m. and earlier than 9a.m.

This should not be happening in a civilized world. There is a steady flow of these calls, it is never ending; and, it is just too much! These people are not using common sense disturbing my household whenever they choose to. They simply to not care about our lives or the family... they just want information or our votes. I am seriously disappointed in our society and our lack of regard for the peace of our home life.

Thank you for understanding this problem and for any thing you can do to bring some sanity back into our lives.  I am beginning to hate these callers and the telephone, often turning off my phone ringer checking periodically for personal calls I need to return.

    Sincerely,
    • Caller: 859-331-9707  (SIRS)

You are incorrect...   I answered the call and told the female to kindly remove my telephone number from the calling list.  I repeated my telephone number twice and she said it would be removed.  I received another call from the same number again and again.  There is something wrong with this company and it should be shut down no matter what it does.  I see it as harassment and that makes you a problem.

Stop lying to, disrespecting, and bothering people...  it is awful.

To SIRS--yes, they (and many others) have been bothering me too.

In the first place, it is rude to intrude into people's homes. In the second place, if you've called and they haven't picked up, don't keep calling. In the third place, if you really had a legitimate reason for calling, and the person being called wanted to talk with you, then (a) your caller ID would clearly indicate the name of the company and (b) you would leave a message stating your true reason for calling and ask that an interested caller return your call. That is what makes these repeated calls even more rude and objectionable.

    It's really simple.

You guys really can't do anything. The BEST thing to do is answer and say "I'm not interested". Trust me, I worked there for a little over a year. If you don't pick up your number gets recycled back through our list of numbers and we WILL call you back. Or you could take a survey about your local food stores :) we say they last 7-10 minutes but they average around 12-17 minutes. But then we will never call you again.

Yeah but our company policy requires us to call the numbers on the screen. If you don't pick up, we call the next day. Pick up. Say "I'm not interested". Hang up. It's not that hard. It's a completely legitimate legal company. We do surveys and do not sell stuff, so were not stopped by the do not call list. 80% of the people who call are 16 year old kids making money for college. Don't penalize them. We all have been there.

    Thanks.

How about you stop being a [***]...we have all had to take jobs just to get by. I'm sure the whole 20 seconds of ringing doesn't ruin your life. Grow up. Don't be a baby.

    Hey Eskimo,

How about you send me your phone number and I'll get 100 of my friends to call you and ask you questions.  It will only be 1 friend a day and only last about 15mins, so it really won't take much of your time.

You and your company are not the only company calling people, so you can see how 15mins adds up over time.

I do understand you have a job to do, but if I say I'm not interested, then your company should take my name off your list.  Don't tell me they do, 'cause I've told them and they still call.

    Eskimo,

Many companies do NOT stop calling based on what you say when you answer their calls, as multiple people posting here have attested. There is a company that purports to be representing a charity that has been told four times not to call again over the course of years, but every few months, their caller ID pops back up.

You don't know when people sleep and work and how many other calls they have gotten, so stop trying to minimize the interruption.

I hope when the economy improves, you can find another job.

"Norman" called me from this number in the middle of dinnertime. I told him not to call this number again.
10 seconds later, he called again and hung up when I answered.

Eskimo - is it really legitimate to bother people on Sunday? It's always about money...you do your job because somebody is paying you to bother people - if somebody would pay you to eat [***] would you eat it? I doubt you would. Well this is same [***]...where is respect and dignity?
