Same thing. Had surgery in August.  Made payment but they call and call and call.  I don't answer. Send to reject/block. I'll continue to make payments online to hospital.

Had a cash visit to a medical clinic in the USVI on January 31, 2019, for blood type analysis and a mandatory office visit (required for VI driver's license bureau). Told the clinic there was no insurance and I wished to pay all fees immediately. Three months after I paid $225 for this very straightforward service I was contacted by them stating my bill had been adjusted and I owed more money. I received 2 notices from this collection agency by mail first (at $3 per letter for my mailing service) for the letters that arrived within days of each other. After contacting them they suggested that I had paid much less than I had and requested I provide evidence of my payment. I sent the credit card line items showing the total payment amount. They continued calling through May, first saying I hadn't sent proof of payment and then saying the hospital said I hadn't paid the full amount. They agreed to take me off their call list and passed me to the main hospital in the VI to sort it out. Unfortunately,  in my case it appears that the hospital is trying to gouge me further by claiming that my cash settlement for services is just an estimate/deposit...hogwash! I've always paid my bills but this will go on my credit score because they are demanding excess payment without any line item bill showing a service with an associated fee so I can verify underpayment (i.e. extortion). Unfortunately,  bureaucratic extortion is common in the islands.
