- ThewrongpersonI received several calls from this number. Today I answered it. Saying I owed a payday loan from 2008. First off no way. I wasn't working that year due to the birth of my child. Second: payday loans work off of post dated checks. In my state if you write a bad check they send it to the worthless check unit which is ran by the state govt. If unpaid after that collection attempt is failed a warrant for your arrest is issued. And so the few years ago that I got a speeding ticket I would have been arrested. Third: they gave an address which hadn't been mine 4 years prior to 2008. All of this reeked of a scam. Then he tried to tell me they weren't a debt collector and didn't have to send me mailed proof of the debt. I asked him how could you not be a debt collector you are calling me to collect money for a company I supposedly owe. How is this not debt collection. He started trying to spew some bs. I told him I was done with the conversation Bc it was a scam. Hung up. Please pay close attention to their wording. I also noticed that no where in this conversation did he say it was being recorded. Which all debt collectors do when trying to collect a debt. As I have been cleaning up my credit for 3 years a dealing with collectors.

- KevinGot a call today from Mrs. Sullivan, and her associate Amber. They told me I owed $1000 for a payday loan taken out back in march of 2008, that my address was blah blah(which I hadn't been living at for 11 years, that my place of employment was blah blah that I stopped working at in 2006. This same number called me a week ago saying that they were from Microsoft and that I needed to download a open connection application so they could fix some errors on my PC. My laptop isn't even connected to the internet at home.........

- Christina SI just received a called from them this morning and all last week. I finally answered and it was from TAG, they skipped the file number and said they wanted a statement for a pay day loan that was issues in 2008. I asked the Rep to provide me with the documents(knowing I never took out a payday loan in my life) and he got indignant. I simply asked him to provide me the actual documents that I SUPPOSED to have signed for this so called loan...he then HUNG UP!!!

- MESS WITH WRONG PERSONI received several calls from this # the man said his name was Thomas L Griffith calling from a legal office to collect money from me, said I owed money from a payday loan back in 2008. I never took out a payday loan, They were very rude, didnt want to answer any of my questions and he was demanding for me to tell him and verify my name, ss# and old addresses, this is scary. They had a bunch of my information. I don't owe anyone money and I have excellent credit. These people need to be arrested!!!!! They have no company name as well..... do not give these people any information at all.

- DanOnce again this number is calling and leaving a message re: an uncollected payday loan from 2009. They claim repayments ceased in early 2010. This is a scam as payday loans are directly deducted from a bank account and the loan itself is deposited directly to a bank account via wire or ACH. They had information re my employment ( a firm I had left 3 yrs prior to loan ) and the name of the bank. But no account number !! Curious. I smell SCAM !!!!

- janet replies to carolJust got the sane call, on my cell phone! These people are sick! They think people are stupid. I am turning their number over to law enforcement. I am sick of it!
- Bothered by the call| 1 replyA gentleman from TAG called me and gave me a case number and says that I owe money. I looked up some information of debt collectors and this is what I found. I hope this is helpful. It states you can sue the debt collector. maybe there should be a class action suit again this company. Especially considering they have everyone's person information and they are using it to fraud and extort money from us. Just a thought.
Do I have any recourse if I think a debt collector has violated the law?
You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, the judge can require the collector to pay you for any damages you can prove you suffered because of the illegal collection practices, like lost wages and medical bills. The judge can require the debt collector to pay you up to $1,000, even if you can’t prove that you suffered actual damages. You also can be reimbursed for your attorney’s fees and court costs. A group of people also may sue a debt collector as part of a class action lawsuit and recover money for damages up to $500,000, or one percent of the collector’s net worth, whichever amount is lower. Even if a debt collector violates the FDCPA in trying to collect a debt, the debt does not go away if you owe it.
What should I do if a debt collector sues me?
If a debt collector files a lawsuit against you to collect a debt, respond to the lawsuit, either personally or through your lawyer, by the date specified in the court papers to preserve your rights.
Where do I report a debt collector for an alleged violation?
Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General’s office, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Many states have their own debt collection laws that are different from the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Your Attorney General’s office can help you determine your rights under your state’s law.

- LauraCalled me and my boyfriend even though the "serious matter" was about me. Even left voicemail on my boyfriend's phone and not mine. That definitely tells me it's a scam, but I also know I have done nothing to warrant a "serious matter." I emailed FBI.gov their phone number and they said their name was TAG.

- Charnelle JenkinsI don't answer phone calls that I don't know. They left a message saying that they are trying to reach a Charnelle Durbin and that I or my attorney needs to contact them today with a reference number that they left. I haven't gone by Durbin in 5 years. I have nothing on my credit report that requires any kind of call. I have some bad credit yes, but I know who they are and what the reasons are behind them. I will not call them back.

- TiffanyI just got a phone call from this number 866-369-7991 the man on the phone had a case number my husbands social and address. The funny thing is they said we got a payday loan in 2008 (which we never have) and that another woman was his wife in 2008 ( we have been married since 2006) anyways all the info they had was correct and they stated if we did not pay 1232 for a loan that was 600 today they were going to file a lawsuit. Well I wanted to know the company information and contact Information so I could figure out who used our information in a fraudulent situation .. This guy only repeated the phone number that I called and his extension.... Would not provide me with any other information regarding this loan ... Called a contact of mine to ask what I should do and they said ask for a physical address phone number and name and ask for copies of the paperwork to turn over to a lawyer... Guess who does not answer the phone and plus it is a answering machine.... PLEASE SHARE!!!!!! This person was very rude and would not listen to me saying that we did not have a loan such as this and basically called me a piece of crap who wants to steal money from companies!!!!!

- fxy71 replies to ChristieHi Christie- Yes, I have also been contacted by them. I do not answer because I am aware of who they are. They are third Party collection agencies who think they can get you pay a debt, no matter how long ago and how much, after THEY have purchased it from the original person/company we had some business with. I am also finding that they are calling on claiming that they have personal info on you about some money you owe and they will setlle for half and or the full....they try to scare you with using words like, "you have been notified" "we have 2 claims filed against you" we are going to contact the county you are in" "we are going to come to your home and work and give you papers that you have to legally sign" all this crap.... again, THEY are just a freakin debt collection company!!!! Yes, our info is all over the web. They will next contact anyone family you have by getting that info online as well. PS you tell them to "verify this Debt" They will not!! They Can't! Therefore, you know that it is illegal and a scam! (when I say to have them verify the debt, not just by talking on the phone cause anyone makes up fake info, you have them mail it to you....be very careful with that too. I never deal with third parties....I deal with the original party//business myself I may have not paid something off in full. I hope this is helpful. don't be afraid! They can do nothing to you except try to scare you.
- fxy71 replies to Bothered by the callHey Bothered, I will be more than happy to go in on some kind of class action lawsuit. apparently, they have contacted memebers of my family leaving personal info and calling my ex husband and ex mother in law in which I have been divorced for the last 15 yrs!! I have gotten emails from them telling me they are getting messages...its harassing and totally messing with my character! Im really pissed and angry! Im sick and tired of this!
- AJHave no idea who this is. Didn't answer b/c I do not answer numbers I do not recognize. I was somewhat of a deadbeat bill non-payor until earlier this year (had some issues and no job). They didn't leave a message. Google does not come back with any company when searching. After reading the other posts, I'm wondering if it may be a collections company.
I got a letter in the mail about an account of mine that (admittedly I did not pay) went to charge off in April of 2007. No lie. 2 thousand motha effin 7! Um...4 words: statute of limitations [***]! So I'm not legally bound. Morally, perhaps. Ethically, maybe definitely. However, I was working in 2010 and 2012 so there were opportunities to get the money from me. If they are just now getting around to it ... well I don't have any sympathy for that. I doubt very highly I'm the only account.
Soooooooo now I get to have a whole lot of fun with them. I tend to make bill collectors stop calling me. How? It goes like this:
BC: "may I speak to ___?"
me: "speaking, who dis?"
BC: "ma'am I need to inform you that this call is being made in an effort to collect a debt and this call is being recorded."
me: "and? you still ain't said who you is. you sound sexy though. mmmhmmm yeup you sho do shawty"
BC (has interrupted by now): "ma'am I need to verify some information with you."
me: "talk to me."
BC: "is your address ___?"
me: "you comin over sexy? I like ***in around when my husband ain't home."
BC: "ma'am is that your address yes or no?"
me: "is you comin over yes or no?"
BC: "ma'am..."
me (interrupting): "whatchu wearin right now? I bet it's sexy."
---typically they hang up by now. If they don't they try this:
BC: "ma'am I am going to have to ask you to keep this call professional."
me: "look man! you called me! I can say whatever the f*** I want! now you gon answer my question or not?"
BC: "pardon?"
me: "what ... is ... you ... wearin? it's not a hard question. just describe it to me."
BC: "ma'am I've already said you need to keep this phone call professional."
me: "and like I said, you the one called me interrupting my phone sex time. so either you gon cooperate and tell me what you wearing and I mean draws and all or you gon get the hell off..."
they always hang up by then.
I'll repost when they call back and let y'all know what else I found out. - LatanyaSame thing about some crap of a pay day loan from 2010.
