- Montana MomGot a call from this number but didn't recognize it so let it go to voicemail. They actually left a message. Still trying to scam people.
- Caller: 866-713-4761
- Tammy YoungThis # calls me about 10 tines a day and fills up my voicemail will a spam message. I've tried everything to block this # but somehow they still are able to leave a message
- Caller: Federal correctional facility asking for my credit card
- who careswhy would a 800 number call collect 800 numbers are to be free i never have heard of having to pay for a 800 number ever
- Caller: who knows and who cares
- JaneI blocked their number after the second call but they've left 6+ messages since then (I have a iPhone so I guess blocking the number just doesn't show you when they're calling). Anyone know how to get them to stop calling me?
- UnknownEvery time this number has called me, it's been an inmate calling from New Edmonton Remand Centre. If you know someone in jail, and this number calls you, just answer the phone and an automated voice will read you "this is a free/collect call from (name of inmate), an inmate at 'New Edmonton Remand Centre'. To accept the call, please press 1. To deny this call, please press 2."
The inmates get 5 free calls a day. Anything more and they either have to have money in their Telmate account via their ORCA number, OR, you deposit money for your number-strictly for Remand calls. Other than that, I'm pretty sure it either will charge you on your phone bill, or won't work.
Each call lasts about 20 minutes, so if your phone plan doesn't support unlimited calling and you either have a set limit of usable minutes (air-time) or pay-as-you-go, I'd suggest upgrading or waiting until you have your free/unlimited evenings/weekends. Minutes get eaten up very quickly, and it can be a bit shocking to see overage charges.- Caller: Telmate
- J replies to New phoneIf its a brand new phone number, the person is probably trying to reach whoever had that phone number before you, and if its anything like mine thats going to happen to you a lot over the next few weeks.
- It's a jail call replies to DebbieIt's a jail call
- AngelaI do not know anyone in the prison system and I can not make out which correctional facility Also they do not say who the person is that is calling
- Caller: telemate
- Sandra TrenchardI received a call asking me to accept charges from this number . I do not know anyone from Manatoba and especially anyone in a correctial facility . I googled the number .
- WpgReceived a call from this number and declined it right away. Voicemail had half a message saying something about pressing 1 to accept and 2 to decline. Blocked the number on iPhone. 5mins later my phone says I have a new voicemail. It’s the exact message I got the 1st time. I don’t know anyone in any jail.
- EmI too received a call from this number today, five actually. Two from the number the OP did, and three from "Telmate". The first four I picked up and then immediately hung up as I heard they were recordings, not listening to what they were actually saying.
The fifth I decided to listen to out of curiosity, the person on the other end was obviously quite persistent. I picked it up and got the message "This is a free call from (couldn't make out name), an inmate at Red Deer Remand Centre, to accept this call press 1..." I accepted it and the girl on the other end told me she had been trying to get through to her sister, and said that I had the same number.
I politely said I didn't know anyone by her or her alleged sister's name (I don't), and she apologized, hanging up. Nothing bad has come of it and she didn't ask me for any money, nor did the call ask for cc info.- Caller: Telmate, Remand centre
- Still callsStill calls multiple times per day leaving vague messages. Will not answer
- Marcy replies to ray bergeronI called the company back. They are based out of the USA but handle inmate calls for corrections facilities in USA and Canada. Due to Canada's privacy laws, however, they cannot access my call history to see who the inmate is that is trying to call. Sask police verified this and said that I will just have to wait and see if they call back. Seems legit to me.

- LucasYa it's the number for inmates to call you from a federal prison, remand is a different number, I know that because I've been to jail... But I was told that a friend of mine who was in jail was going to call me and I asked the number and I was told this number so it would make sense for it to be her... Except for the 2 missed calls in November but I think that was another buddy of mine who had gotten busted after 2yrs on the run.. So I'll see what's really going on the next time I receive a call from the number...

- Sharon replies to ray bergeron| 1 replyScam...
Prisoners are allowed 3 free calls per day from federal prisons.
(You my friend have already paid for their call. Consider that.)
Maybe they should: use their generous allowance of calls to call you direct if it’s that important.
:Make some good use of their time.
:Quit expecting something for nothing.
Hey, wait... maybe that what started the incarceration in the first place.
1-Don’t call back. Hang up and listen to the little voice in your head.
2-Call a friend you can trust and ask them what you should do.
3-I’m serious, don’t buy in to something that may raise your anxiety level. - Kellie-800notes replies to SharonPerson posted on 22 May 2010., don't expect reply :)
- TashaI received a call from the number , and the guy mentioned his name , then I picked because it was a colleague at work. Don’t know how he got my number though. Please do I have to worry about me picking the call?
