Why would anyone answer an unknown long distance number??? And NEVER call back! If you do, you are "doomed" to repeated calls. NEVER engage them in conversation OR ask to be "removed"!  That will put you on a list of "good numbers" they can sell every other illegal caller so they can call you, too.

VOIP internet phone service allows scammers all over the world to call us using a "spoofed" (fake) caller I.D.s  If you block one number they will just "spoof" another one. Many are in a foreign country.  Just ignore them!!!  And don't use  your name on answering machine or voicemail. Just use your phone number.

Expensive call-blockers will not stop them (new "spoofed" numbers). Reporting them to the gov't. will not stop them (foreign soil).   And asking them to be removed only makes it WORSE. It's an epidemic...IGNORE THEM.

i dont know why but i keep getting phone calls from this number, its got so much worse because now they have called me at 8pm at night when i do not want to be bothered by noone. i m with my family relxing eating dinner. they called me saying its a debt collector call. they ask for someone i have no idea about.

DO NOT give this organization any information. This organization are the bottom feeders of the bottom feeders - they purchase out-of-date debts and troll for information concerning debt via open records and pursue the alleged debtor without obtaining the Chain of Custody of the debt from the original credit grantor or legal guardian of the debt. There are reports of Stephens & Michaels presenting themselves as attorneys, which is illegal.

Recommendation is NOT to call or communicate in any manner - ANY debt collector must give certifiable written proof of debt and their legal authority to pursue the debt... Only communicate in writing via certified mail and contact the proper authorities if you suspect fraud, which included not having clear title or chain of custody to a debt (Debt Trolling).

I answered and they said they were Pinnacle Collection Service.  Of course the call was crap.  Don't answer - SCAM.

I Keep getting calls from this number and no one leaves a message and I won't answer it I did find out that its some collection company in Texas I believe. THey are attempting to collect an older Credit card debt that I refused to pay after speaking with the card company serveral times in the past> I beleive they sued me in small claims court and recieved a judgement against me and I will not pay or acknowledge the debt since I have rebuilt and reestablished my credit good enough to purchase 2  new autos in the last 3 yrs plus requalified for a home loan recently.

Have received several calls from 866) 679-9649.  They stay on  line long enough to go into voice mail but don't leave any message.

This number calls several times a day. When I answer they hang-up.

I just got a call from this guy who said he was from stephens michaels and associates. He asked for me by name and laughed. He said are you so and so. He was laughing! I just hung up.

does anyone know how to stop these illegitimate calls to my home? They continue to ask for someone that doesn't live here.  I tried blocking the calls through Verizon phone blocking service, but the calls continue to come through anyway!
An attorney needed, perhaps?

The company name they gave me was, Stephens and Michaels Associates and I goggled it. Beware! Do not give them any info what so ever! Ask for them to mail you proof of the debt and that they own it also the original debt info. But don't give them your info(they should have it, if it's real). They buy old debts and scare people to pay them which is illegal!

I just got a call from this number  866-788-9612 saying they were collecting  money I owed  from 2011 .....birthdate wrong..... last name spelled right and had the last 4 didgets of my my social insurance numer  how do they get this information  and our cell number ?

this number calls me several times a day and night will not leave a message, so I answered it to see who it was and they said nothing.

These peoples call me on the 7-18-14 asking to speak to my husband said that he was calling to collect a debt for their client version wireless for $927.79.I told him that he didn't owe them he said well what you are saying is that he had already disputed this change. I said yes he did. He then said I tell you what can you pay this amount $371.12 I give you three options . He did not say that the call may be recorded he just started trying to make a deal with me and I told him that I had to talk to my husband frist then he said well

My wife received a call from them - had her cell and our last name, but we have paid or are paying through garnishment on ALL old debt, so there is nothing legit for them to really collect on that we have not already paid directly to who legally holds the debt. Thanks to this post and another one when we Googled it, we will not fall prey to these people. I just wish they would find something better to do thant try to trick people and scam them out of money they already paid. They should be more careful of what debt they buy becasue there is a reason they got it so cheap - it's not really worth anything to anyone! Still, if 1 out of 100 or even 1000 fall victim to it, then I guess it becomes worth it to them and they never go away. Here's to hoping more people find this post and put these people out of business for good :)

Brian Mills called from 866-788-9612 would not say he was calling said it was urgent that I call him back Would not give nature of call.

They call multiple times per day even back to back. They d not leave any messages and if I do answer, I hear silence. I've been ignoring them.
