    I just received a message on my answering machine in which a woman said there was recent activity on my card that they wanted to ask me about.  I'm going to call Visa (the real # for Visa) to find out if they in fact made this call.

    CALL THEM BACK!  SOMEONE IS TRYING TO CHARGE SOMETHING ILLEGALLY ON YOUR CARD.  This number is legit.  It is fraud protection for Visa.  I a call left on our company voicemail and they said 'This is Adam with Fraud Detection, calling about suspicious activity your card with the last four digits 1234'  I asked my banker about this number the next morning and he said it was good.  We called the card issuer and they said it was good.  I called this 866.821.8411 and they told me two charges were attempted in Asia, one for $95 and one for $360.

    Yep, it's a legit number for the VISA fraud division.  I didn't trust it either so I call the customer service number on my bill and (eventually) was transfered to the same division (and they varified the number).  A $2000 charge was refused and a block was put on the account.  Good job VISA!

    A bit of additional info... It is important to call either your regular Visa number or the 866-821-8411 number, since they told me a 'hold' was placed on the card until they heard from me to discuss the charges; In my case, it turns out the charges were real (music downloads); I asked them to change my contact number to my cell from my home number, in case I'm away if/when this happens again; They also said if I tried to use the card with the 'hold', it would be rejected... but that I could clear it up quickly with a phone call;

    Yup, VISA fraud division.  I was also suspicious about the 866-821-8411 # so I called the number on the back of my card and the operator verified that was the correct # for the fraud dept.  She transferred me so I didn't actually call the number.  I had a small ($10.29) charge to my card that had been made today, but wasn't reflected online b/c it hadn't completely processed and they suspected was illegitimate because other people had similar charges from this merchant.  I was impressed they caught it so early!  Legit phone #, way to go VISA!

    I came on here to ensure it was a legit number after Visa blocked a couple purchases I in fact tried to make yesterday.  Not sure if there was anything beyond that because I can't get through to them which is a huge problem.  I keep calling the numbr and all I get is dead air on the other end, no ringing, no nothing.  Hopefully something will be figured out soon.

    I received a call today from Stephenie from Fraud Detection, and was also hesitant about calling back.  But apparently it is a legitimate number...someone in Brooklyn tried to charge over $4000 in Best Buy merchandise on a counterfeit card bearing my numbers, which was fortunately declined, and then another large purchase at Bed Bath and Beyond a few minutes later.  Thank you VISA!!!  I don't understand how someone could've gotten my card info and used it like this....esp when I live nowhere near Brooklyn.  Scary...

    The thing to remember is that theives will use any random numbers to print onto blank visa cards.  That's the nice thing about having the security number on the back of your card, the odds are they will not be able to nail both. I received a call from this number today, it was a $1.01 charge from 9 Pine Development. No idea who that is but the fraud squad was on the case. I think in many cases that small of a charge goes right through and then they charge like crazy. Since Visa can pull up all account activity and look at the trends they can pick this off like ducks in a barrel.

    THIS NUMBER IS LEGIT -  I got a call on my voicemail, saying it was Tina from Fraud Detection calling about my card ending in XXXX. I called my card issuer and they said it was legit, so i called the number direct. They were very professional, verified who I am, and then informed me a business in Florida was processing a transaction on my account, which i had never heard of. They are cancelling my card, and will have my isser send me a new card in about a week. This is at least the fourth time in the last several years these people have detected something amiss with various cards I have had, from different banks. This time someone was trying to buy  motorcycle parts in Florida...

    FRAUD!!!  Do NOT GIVE YOUR SOCIAL to them.  Call your bank. I first got a text, then they called.  They asked for home address right away, then said to give the social security number so they could better search for my card, since the wrong person was coming up.  I didn't give to her.  There was no charge on my credit cards, like they had said.  Also, she said they were a third party company, not a credit card company and she didn't know what kind (Visa, MC, etc.) of card I had with the $1.00 charge.  Total scam...don't be stupid by giving your personal info. to stranger on phone; call your bank to check out problems, not this number!!  Also, they said it was US Bank, and I don't have a credit card with them; didn't make any sense.

    I received a call from Fargo, ND and had no idea why. I let it go to voice mail. It was a fraud alert.  I called the number on the back of my credit card instead of this 866-821-8411 number and they verified my card had been compromised.  They put a hold on the account.  $2,032 in fraudulent charges - thanks for catching that VISA!
