Received a voicemail message from this number 866-877-9385 saying they were from BB&T and that it was not a sales call.  Gave a 7 digit reference number. When I called back, they requested requested the last 4 digits of SS...so gave them the wrong numbers and ended call.  Then called BB&T's fraud department who looked up the number and verified that it IS NOT a bank number.  She even tried calling it and said it rang for quite a while and then had a 'tone'.  This is definitely fraudulent and should be reported.
This number is also not connected with any collection group that the auto loans might use as I did ask her to check on that as well.

We have no loans or anything to do with BB&T and we are getting these calls.... I would beware!

This is a legit call number....I have a cc with them and I did miss payment by accident, and they were just reminding me and it has not been an issue with them calling me again!

This is a legitimate BB&T phone number. They are calling you all because you owe them money. They called me because I forgot to make a payment on my credit line account.  

This # is a legitimate BB&T number. They are calling everyone because they are late with a payment to them. Pay them and they won't call you back. Pretty simple

I never answer but get calls from this number numerous times a day when I am sleeping is very annoying

I got a message to call this # and they said it was BB and T, I called the # and they wanted my last 4 SS, I hung up and called BB and T the next day, they said it wasn't them.

THIS IS A SCAM! I got a recorded message supposedly from BBT saying it was not a sales call but that I needed to call back, and they gave a reference number. I didn't call the number they gave me but went online and called the number from the BBT website to make sure I was talking to the REAL BBT and they said the call was not from them.  They are phishing for social security numbers and account info.

This is not actually BB&T calling. This is a scam to get your identity. BB&T denies it being them. I have received 15 calls in 2 weeks from them. BB&T doesn't even have my number...I always give everyone my husband's number as I hate receiving calls. I really hope someone makes them stop calling soon. I have reported it and am getting tired of the harassment.

you are all idiots, that is not bb&t's number. its a scam. Why would bb&t specifically call YOU for no reason? Its a scam artist using bb&t's name to pretend like they are legit. They call people at random to see if you're dumb enough to respond with your information. Block the number, that simple. And for the people that say "omg i will never conduct business with bb&t again because of this!!" why would you blame a financial institution for a scam artist pretending to be them?? its not their fault!

My elderly friend here in central VA has been getting these same voice mail calls from this number.   She has a checking account and CD at BB&T but no loans. She has never had any loans from BB&T.  There is NO chance that she owes them any money.  We went to a local branch this morning and were told there is no legitimate reason why someone from the bank would be making these calls. I suspect that some of the people claiming that these calls are legit are in on the scam.

Continue to receive calls from this number and they request personal info which I did not supply.

This number keeps calling 866-877-9385 leaving a message saying it BB&T, and it's "Not a sales call" and leaves a reference #. They call all hours, so I know its NOT BB&T.

Called and left a bunch of automated messages saying they were BB&T and gave a reference number.  I checked my bank account to make sure that my  car loan had been paid.  It had. When I called back, the automated answer asked for my phone number which I input and got a message back saying that the entry was incorrect.  Woman came on the line, spoke English as her first language and there was no background noise like you would normally hear at a call center.  I should have been immediately suspicious and checked the number.  Instead I gave her my name, address and last 4 digits of my social.  How stupid!!!  I can't believe I did that.  She asked me to send proof that the payment had come out of my bank account.  It did not make sense to me that they could not go back and check their records, then she said she had checked the records and I knew then that this was BS and I had made a big mistake!

Got calls 2x a day on phone machine.
When i was finally able to answer, they told me i owed money on a car that i never owned or seen nor do i have an acct with BBT bank. They wanted my info which they didnt get....I told them that to send the late notice but they said they couldn't cause i wouldn't verify my address.
When i mentioned scam, she got irratated. Of course i asked them not to call back and that i would contact the bank direct.

And what if you don't have anything thru BB&T there genius

They call me 2-3x per day. I don't have a BB&T account to be late on. Have never had a BB&T account. They ask for me by name. Hmmmm
Not so simple.

They should use BB&T on their caller ID if they are really from BB&T
