This number is from a company doing business as "Student Assistance Corp."  They call and don't leave a message, and when I do pick-up the phone, it is usually a very rude individual attempting to contact someone I don't even know regarding a student loan.

I called the number back, and the phone was answered by a very pleasant young man.  I explained that I didn't know the person they were attempting to contact, and he said that he would mark my number as "bad" (in other words, it's not the correct number for the person they are trying to contact).

We'll see if it did any good.  If I receive another phone call from them, I will send them a "Cease and Desist" letter via Certified Mail, Return Receipt.  If they call after receiving the letter, they are in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and I will file a complaint with my state Attorney General's Office and report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) who can levy a fine against them.

$10,000 is BOGUS! It is $1,000. Please check your facts before you spew inaccurate knowledge.

It is Sallie Mae calling about overdue federal student loans. They were very nice and were able to get me a 6 month forbearance with no problem.

PS: THEY gave ME all of my info, I did not have to verify anything other than saying "Yes."

Maybe if you weren't such a deadbeat and would pay your loan, maybe your mom wouldn't be getting harassed.

These people are complete jerks and they need to be stopped, they are REAL pests and scammers
and plain morons. They have called my number 2 and 3 times a day with there stupid recordings
about student loans and using my phone number that I have had for many years.
NO one living here has a student loan and are long past those years. Why have they started up on my number. These jerks need to be stopped I am on the do not call list, what good is it doing me.
Let the calls go to our congress and senate let them handle these fools themselves.

This is a scam. These people have been calling my mother and sister incessantly. That was my first clue something was up. Sallie Mae has all of MY current info and contact me when my loans need to be serviced (not my family)! I called Sallie Mae and they have no record of these people and are not trying to reach me. Please do not give these people ANY of your information!!!

They are calling night and day - I have not answered and they leave no message, but it is a real
nuisance.  I can't block calls, so anything you can do to stop this is very welcome. Thank you.

You gotta love SAC (Student Assistance Corp.)!  They obviously sit in chairs with battery chagers hooked to the metal and for every call that they answer and either 1) can't get through or 2) cannot get a dime out of the person who answers...they get juiced big time!  (Sorry folks-wishful fantasy).  But they are a royal pain in the a$$.
I told the lady I am disabled (true) and that I am still waiting for an ALJ hearing.  THey are faxing me a form for a doctor to sign and she said that my loan would be deferred as long as I am disabled.  Hopefully I will drop dead before I get better (which is NOT looking to promising).

Continually get calls from these people - claiming to have some type of connection with my student loans but it is complete crap. I am on the no call list - this is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This number calls several times a day. They do not say who they are or what they want. They only respond to what I ask of them. I asked them who they were and they said that they had information on my student loan and wanted my phone number. A few days ago they wanted my ss number which I did not give. I said I will not give any information until you tell me what this is about. They were rude and kept saying they can't give information until I give them my birthday, etc. I asked if they were working with Sallie Mae, once they said no and another time they said yes. I told them all of my loans were taken care of and not to call me anymore. Once they said they will never stop calling me. I am going to block this number if any calls come again.

To people who think it is Sallie Mae...it is fraud.

I know they did this to me too. They have nothing to do with my student loan either, and all they keep doing is digging for information.

I've never had a student loan and all of my previous loans have been paid in full for over 10 years.  I've also had this same phone number for 14 years, but yet they call me and hang up.
 Methinks they're idiots and I reported them....

I get 4-5 phone calls from USA Funds a day. When my husband answers he either gets dead air or gets a recorded message "Sorry we missed you (didn't miss us husband is on phone) please call ******* regarding your student loan" What student loan? We don't have one! My daughter is still in High School! In doing research here is how you get these annoying people.

1. Check and see if you have selective call forwarding through your phone provider.

2. Add this 866 number as the number you want forwarded

3. The number you want to forward them to would be a shut down business you know of

Once their phone call is forwarded to this shut down business, they will get beeps and a message that the phone number has been disconnected. From what I understand when the Robot phone call gets these beeps your phone number is released from the Robot dialer. I am trying it to see if it works. If it doesn't I'm forwarding the calls to the Attorney General's office. Why should me or my husband call them back when we have nothing to do with them? These annoying people have to be stopped!

866-905-8941 has called four times in the past six days, twice on Saturday (two days ago). If it is "Sallie Mae," it could have relevance, as my daughter, who used this address only briefly, several years ago, does have outstanding student loans. However, they have never deigned to leave a message. I was taught that the first point of telephone etiquette, when dealing with strangers, was to identify yourself and state your business as soon as the call was answered. Failing this, I will answer these "mystery" calls only to report the identity of the caller to this site.

Nine calls from this number in the last twelve days. There was no message left until and except for call #7, yesterday, when a tape recorded message that repeated four times (total 5) finally identified the caller as "Student Assistance Corporation," although the annunciation was too slurred to be certain, until I did some research on the Internet. The message is for my daughter, who does owe a considerable amount on student loans to Sallie Mae, but who has not lived here for years. I am classifying this call as "debt collector," although I am not certain that is the most accurate description.
There were more calls today, before 2:00 PM. I'm waiting to see if they will break their record, and make it three.
