- Gracie SlipThis is a legitimate call. There was unusual activity and they were confirmed with me before allowing the charge to go through. I authorized the charge and thanked them for asking.
- Caller: Citibank
- skatei got the same call..so i hung up and called the # on the back of the card. it turns out that they did call me and were checking on a charge that appeared to be fraudulent.
- Robthis number just called me and they said it was ATT Yellowpages...funny
- KrissyI work for citi as a fraud analyst.. and i do understand that it is suspicious receiving voice messages and tells you to call a certain phone number and then asks you for your cc number. you just have to be very careful guys.. BTW... it feels so good that some of you are very appreciative of what we do. Your protection is our top priority! thank you for choosing CITI!
- phillipaThis is a ligit number under Citi Bank. I got the same call, at first I was very skeptical, checked with my credit card company who said there was nothing unusual and couldn't explain why my charges were denied. And, my card was blocked still, even after their assurance. So I called this number and they confirmed some suspicious activities (nothing fraudulent though, and the card was unblocked), So sometimes, the right hand does not get to know what the left hand is doing; (as it turns out, my bank card was issued under Citi Bank).
It's still advisable to call the number in the back of your card.- Caller: Citi card
- Suspicious MikeAfter reading all the discussion on this and other phone number search sites I took a chance on calling 877-215-2648. The number is legitimate. It is a 100% automated system wanting to ask you about specific transactions. You only have to give your zip code. I would not give my full CC number or other vital info if asked and was ready to hang up at any suspicious point. It knew 2 specific transactions from 2 different stores that were legit. There is no realistic way someone attempting fraud would have known about these transactions (2 different stores and the exact dollar amount and the day of the charge.) After responding by hitting "1" to both, the computer voice said it will acknowledge these charges as legit. It was that simple. This system was probably set up to reduce costs of asking customers about suspicious transactions as it is 100% automated not requiring a live person. Before calling this number or the number on your card, have your recent receipts ready to confirm transaction dates, stores and dollar amounts. Like I said, it focused on 2 specific charges out of about 30 charges I've done over the past month. They will ask you details first. You do not have to volunteer anything vital at any point nor should you.
- Caller: Citi fraud deparment
- MelinaI received a call from this number and just called the customer service number on my card, and I did have fraud activity on my card. If you get a call from here just call the regular customer service number and they will help you out!
- volandI got a call from this number but decided to call directly to Citibank by phone number on the back of the card. They told me that there is no suspisious activity on my card. They also told me that 877-215-2648 number is NOT a Citibank number and gave me a REAL fraudulent department phone number.
- GaryHad voice message from 877-215-2648 saying it was CitiBank Fraud and to call 877-215-2648. I phoned the number on my CitiCard and asked about the number. They informed me that both are VAILD Citibank numbers and that the 877-215-2648 went straight to their FRAUD department. I was able to take care of the info they needed with a call to the number listed on my card.
- Caller: CitiBank
- NHThis is a legit call. I too called the number on the back of my card to be sure and they confirmed their Fraud Dept called because someone tried buying stuff online with my number. Hats off to Citi, the system worked
- Todd replies to jgLegit. I ordered something online from a parts supplier today. They had the full transaction Vendor, Date, and Dollar amount. I just confirmed the purchase and all was good. Much better than years ago where they would put a hold on your acct until you called them. This way, at least you have like a day or two confirm
- PeterLol, they thought purchasing SmartFTP was suspicious :)
(I hung up and called the number on the back of my card obv)- Caller: Citi
- swlegit- citi fraud dept. Did not ask for CC#- only zip code. They could confirm my prev. transactions and were calling to alert on a fraudulent charge from the UK...
- Caller: citi
- Steven replies to jgit a legitimate number, I got the same e mail with that same number, called citicards on the back of my card and confirmed that number with them and it is legit
- John| 1 replyThe number is legit. I got a message on my machine to call them, they provided an access code to use when I call.
I was skeptical, so I called the number on the back of my card instead.
The agent that answered told me the call was legit, and they just wanted to verify that I had my card in my possession, and the last few charges. I had made two back to back charges at an online merchant, and it raised a flag for them.
I love Citibank's fraud protection. They are really on top of things. They should have you call back the number on your card though. It would make more sense.- Caller: Citibank
- Inspector 22Sure enough, legit. Citibank wanted to make sure that the online order that was placed with newegg was mine and not some hacker. Yeah, it was me. Go ahead and call 'em back, it's all automated.
- Caller: Citibank
- Call type: Event reminder
- MRMI also got a message from this number. I called the citi customer service number and they asked for my account number also right after I input it by touch tone.
So I didn't speak to that person either. - ECThis is a scam. I called the number, and the person was asking for information. I didn't give anything. He even ask for my phone number. I told him, don't you suppose to have that on your screen? It was weird because he was saying, well you could have a card with a store serviced by Citibank. I said, no! I don't have any cards with Citibank and then hung up! - Guys, this is a phising call for information. Don't give your name at all.
I then called Citibank's fraud department and they verified that this number does not belong to them.
For all those people that still think it is a legit number, then tell me why does this number appear on phising emails for ATT&T as well? Check out this link http://blog.onlymyemail.com/att-universal-card-phishing-invitation/- Caller: CITIBANK
- EC replies to JohnNo it is not legit. This number appears in numerous phising emails!!!! wake up and do some research.

When you call the number and enter the personal message code, it retrieves a message asking you to verify any recent purchases. It does NOT ask for your card number, social security number or anything else.
