The operator on the answering machine - which I played three times - said the caller was calling from 865-687-8993.  But when the message came on, the young man said he was calling from 1-877-244-7901...

It is the Dept.of Education operating under GC Services

GC Services is contracted with the Department of Education. They just got $3500 from my income taxes and yet they still continue to call me. My student loan is paid off and they are still calling threatening to take me to court. This company does not use it's power correctly, they are a scam! They will bully and harrass you beware of answering this call!!!

They think they are so slick, by calling and calling every day, but all they will do is get one fired from their job by doing so and they still wont get money. Pester away, I'll just lose my job and still not have it to give to you. One lady called  from this number and she wanted my name, my DOB, and my SS# and I asked her who she was and she said that they don't say who they are or what it's regarding unless they can id who they are talking to. I told her she had to be kidding if she thought I was giving all that to someone I didn't know and who refused to say who they were. Ridiculous.

This must be a scam.  

Woman called both my work number and cell numbers within 1 min.  On the work number she left a message that began with a clapping sound.  She said it's urgent that I call back on 877 244 7901 x5369.  The female caller did not identify her name or company or reason why the urgent message.  I then received a call on my cell, same voice, offering me an incorrect last 4 digits of my SSN and asked that I verify.  I declined.  Then she offered an incorrect birthday and asked that I verify.  I declined.  Then she said she was calling from GC services.  I asked to be taken off list.  I suspect these people are ID thieves but have no way to verify.Poking around the internet it seems like some people think this is a debt collection agent.  While I have no way to verify this, I owe 0$ to any person or organization.  As a young person, when I was behind on a bill, the company calling always disclosed who they were, what was the debt and to whom.I then called the number above, young man came on the line and declined to say purpose of call or what the company did without me giving him a phone number, SSN or B Day. I find it doubtfull that these people are anything more than ID theives.

got a call from GC services and they stated that they were calling on behalf of  the us department of education to collect on my student loans. Know i got a letter from my employer that they will be garnishing 15% of my dis possible income every 2 weeks. I called the Department of Education they stated to my that i have to call GC services they gave my the number 1-877-244-7901 to call them. I just think that it is not write to take money without no notification.

I recieved a call from G.C. Services, yes they are on a list of collection agencies for the Department of Education for student loans. Yes they have the ability to garnish your wages because you have defaulted on your student loan. If you do not respond and cooperate with them.They will give you a chance to rehabilitate your loan.  You can check the list of collection agencies to verify if they are on the list at http://www.alabamaconsumerprotection.com/2011 ... ction-agencies/  I asked the person who called what the address was and was told it was. P.O. Box 27346, Knoxville TN 37927. Which is on the list.

COLLECTIONS / DEBT COLLECTOR
Caller ID number came out as 323-743-8324, a man left a message to call him back at 1-877-244-7901. I looked up the 1877 number and found out it's a collections agency.

this company keeps calling my job and I can be fired for these constant phone calls. When I try to call them back they never answer phone. My student loan was 28 years ago. Yes I should of paid it off, but the schoolm closed down and they have kept my federal taxes for the last 25 years. The original loan was for 6000.00. Ya think you got that back already

Don't know if this is real or not. I believe this  is a scam. I don't pay people unless I have to. So you are SOL out of luck.

GC Services is just a large scale collection agency. Their definitely not a scam so they are legit but they're pests and usually have incorrect information. They call day and night and never seem to accept whatever response they get from you. I know they have a job to do but sometimes they just go way too far.

Nothing but harassing calls and they took my WHOLE refund $3500 and i reached out to GREAT LAKES who holds my student loans account and not in default. ... evem though it was a waste of money to get a degree from Sanford Brown who is closing down now and the started school with Everest is crock of [***] .

Pissed in Vegas...My direct supervisor (w/ Bachelor's Degree in Finance & Accounting) at the place I used to work, told me that when a bill collector calls you, you absolutely have the right to ask them not to call you anymore. As long as they have a "valid" means of contact (e.g. Email/Snail Mail), they have to respect the request. If they do not stop calling you, after you have made said request, it is considered harassment; regardless of any debt owed or not. It is grounds for a harassment suit. If this is something that you are wanting to do, I would be sure to document said conversation. I do have to tell you, you cannot record the phone call without letting the caller k ow that they are being recorded. To do otherwise, is against the law. Good luck Pissed in Vegas.

A woman by the name of Yasminda Griffin from GC Services called my work, attempting to collect a student debt, but when she went over my homeaddress, it was the wrong one and she told me that they got the wrong person and i would be deleted off the calling list.  First of all, i don't have a student loan and second of all, i don't  have any recurring debts.  This company better not continue to call me or i will take matters by suing this company.  Thank you.

Trying to collect a student loan from 30 years ago. I have no job/income. My husband isn't going to pay a loan that I acquired  when I wasn't married. They want to set you up for a $5 monthly payment...DON"T DO IT. It just validates them into harassing you non-stop.

I filed my taxes this year and the federal government took out what I owed for my student loan so its paid for

Paid off student loans.  Have proof sent them copies.   Still harassing saying I owe money.   Taking legal action against them.  And I never fell behind on loans to begin with.

Hahaha!  Obviously GC Services has to verify your identity prior to disclosing identifiable information. PAY YOUR BILLS and you won't be receiving these calls!!!!!
