Which attorney general do we contact?  State we reside in?  New York (state where call originates)? Both?

Cause of action lawsuit for a lawsuit against them (which is best?): harassment, violation of the  Fair Debt Collection Reporting Act, etc.

A lady named Lisa Jones ext.444 called and said the same thing to me, that there was fraud affidavit drawn up against me in my county and if i didn't contact them my wages would be garnished and all my accounts frozen. They are trying to collect a debt from years ago.

These people have been harassing me for 3+ months. They are trying to contact someone that is unknown to me, but have my telephone number. Repeated attempts to have them stop calling me have not worked. As stated above, these people are rude and need to be put behind bars.

These SOB's called my in-law's! They got my fiance's name and called the last known phone number listed for her which was her parent's house. I was cordial in calling but curious as to what they wanted. I talked to an AJ Richards threatening that I was on the verge of a law suit and that he had notarized letters of all sorts. when he asked for money to settle ASAP as we didn't have much time I insisted that he send me the letter and info that he had and i will find out what this is about.  He at first agreed he'd "try to get it to me soon" but then he insisted on making a settlement then and there.  I said i have nothing to give you until I research what this is about as I had some very old debt from many years ago but have not heard of or seen in years. He then said I"m not going to waste my employee's time sending you anything you can't pay.  I said if you want resolution as I do give me MY info and I will try to figure this out.   AJ Richards the depositions and claims manager then  called me all sorts of names tell me shame on me, tisk tisk and how dare i say my financial ability to pay is not  his business etc  and that he was recommending me for all sorts of horrible things. So i called him a few choice words back and hung up. their number was 877-268-9286

    Shaking my head
Well, they got our number too, and have called it numerous times in the last couple of weeks. Thanks to this site, and others like it, we're ignoring it, and will continue to do so.

The funny part is that the calls are for my wife's ex husband who lives in a different state, and they have been divorced for over 15 years. Oh well, a bad economy drives desparation, I guess.

Wow...I'm so glad I googled up this company. They are collecting on me for a debt that I do owe. I definitely want to pay for it, but they are trying to settle...I mean scam me for double of what I owe. How does a $200 balance turn into a $900 debt in a course of a couple months. I actually made arrangments, but for some odd reason I lost my debit card and had to cancel my account. I had to cancel my arrangements w/them, but after reviewing these comments and stories I think it's best to let them take me to my "county" court as they stated. Let's see if that happens and I didn't do any type of fraud as they claimed I did. I simply defaulted on a small pay day loan due to loss of income and this HIGH PRICED ECONOMY. HELLO! Give me a break and stop robbing people. Even the good falls back sometimes.

These guys are a joke.its sad to see all the ways scum become scam artists. These a**holes called sayn i was being  involved in a civil suit. said that a $400 bill went to 1800 dollars n a mere 4 months, and that they needed a 466 a month or they could settle for a  one time payment of 1300 dollars.I havent received anything about oweing money in the past. All of a sudden wednesday the26th i got a call threatning us telling me i needed to pay off the bill by this Fri the28th or by Monday or id be "processed".They said theyd turn me into the F.D.I.C. which has nothing to do with credit collections.its an insurance co to the banks.I hope this scam comes to an end before too many nieve people cough up unneccessary money to some lazy [***] that trick people into paying some bs debt.

Tri Financial called my babysitters father, they told this man information that the Fair Credit Reporting Act states that companies can not give out except to the person who owns the account. The account number and ext is not even valid that I can find out. This company is calling people just to call them.

    Tired of scams
I've been getting calls from a Jeremy Sweeat and he leaves the most rude messages.  For the person that made the earlie comment about pay your bills and you won't have to deal with collectors.......I sure hope nothing financially devastating happens in your personal life such as a parent that battles cancer and you're the one that takes unpaid medical leave from work to be with your loved one during hospice or anything like that.  Everyone is not out to "get over" by using credit.  Unfortunately, unforseen things do happen and everyone doesn't always bounce back.  I refuse to speak to anyone that leaves unprofessional messages calling me immature and telling me to grow up.  Like I'm really going to speak to someone threatening me.

I received a phone call from these pieces of work too!  The left a message on my voicemail at home and since I didn't call that same day, they contacted my in-laws!  They had the balls to tell THEM that I owed over $900 but they would be willing to settle for $650.  They hadn't even talked to me!!  I used to work collections and know that telling a third party about ANYTHING pertaining to a debt (unless it's a direct debt, like I owe Walmart money and it's Walmart calling), it's a crime!  So I was dumb enough to call back, trying to find out what this was.  First lady was nice telling me she couldn't see what it was as it's in the legal dept.  I explained that hubby had a big meeting at work the next day and may get laid off and that I was on the way home from my Grandma's funeral, so we had no way to pay anything right now.  I told her I received nothing in the mail and I won't pay for anything unless I have paperwork to back it up.  She then transferred me to the [***] of the year!!  I started explaining things and right away he jumped down my throat.  I lost my temper, told him he was to NEVER contact any of my family again, that I used to work in collections, etc.  He screamed at me, "YOU are not going to dictate what terms you want to me!!  *I* will tell YOU what to do!"  Obviously the guy has some serious control, wee man syndrome issues!  I went back after him and didn't back down and he hung up on me!  I called him right back as I wanted to punch him in the face, and he continued screaming at me, telling me I was committing wire fraud, they were going to take me to court, etc.  I told him I would not discuss a thing until it was in my file to mail me a letter and if he called my family again I would file with the BBB and Attorney General.  He screamed, "We are taking this to court today, DON'T CALL MY OFFICE AGAIN!!"  But yet today, I get another phone call on my machine LOL!  Serious scammers, I will be turning them in to their state AG for debt collection fraud for disclosing information to a third party without any authorization!

    X Mother in Law
I continue to receive calls from Tri Financial in regard to my x daughter in law whom I've not seen or talked to in 14 years.  The recent phone number on my caller ID is 1-866-412-4113. Mr. Gardner's message was to call 1-888-876-8110 ext 229 and speak to Janet Spahn re: file #111545.  I've told them I know nothing of her where abouts, and  to stop calling me with their idle threats.  I now consider it harrasement, but they continue. I checked out "Who-Where" on the internet and all her relatives, to contact her, are listed, complete with address and phone numbers. My name does not appear on the list! These callers are either insiped or have reached their "Peter Principal"  I'm a 75 year old lady living in a senior invoirnment and have plenty of time to play their games.  Next call from them will be answered with "my house is on fire and the fire dept is here", CLICK!! OR "MY HUSBAND HIT ME AND THE POLICE ARE HERE TO TAKE HIM TO JAIL!! CLICK" ETC. - Just can't allow them to annoy me any longer!!  Try it!!

I keep  getting calls from 1-877-268-9286 on my cell phone. Which is a private
number. The caller gives his name as Peter Staton with Tri Financial. It is all a recording so all I get is my last name. I also did a reverse look up on google white pages. It shaows a different name the address is in Arizona and an apartment building. When you call the number you never speak to anyone in person. I beleive this ia a major scam.
