These people have called twice, and spoken to each of my teen age sons- very rude, aggressive and almost threatening- about my ex husband who has not lived here in 13 years- If they call again, I'm filing harrassment charges- they should not be talking to my kids- AND- I already told them he does not live here.

Is this a scam??? These people call and have the right name but not the right social or middle name.  They were trying to tell me that my credit card is default and that i owed. I answered my cell  and questioned them on this and they were very rude and hung up!!  I called back and they told me i would never have to worry about getting a call from them again but I don't believe it because they have called for 3 years now and still don't have the right person!!!!!  What kind of company guesses on the right person or phone #???  A rude and unprofessional one!!!

FRS Inc called my parents' home, looking for me. A woman by the name of "Linda Manders" asked for me, telling my mom that it was a "business call" and gave her a "claim number" but refused to give her any more information. She gave her 877-475-7982 for me to call to "inquire" about the nature of the claim. She also repeatedly apologized for having "the wrong number" and said she would remove their number from her list. It's a bunch of bull, because I have no outstanding debts and have made all bill payments on time. The number she called from was 877-288-9426.

These people also call me and either hang up or leave a voice mail of heavy breathing.  I believe that they used to be affiliated with Allied Interstate(another group of a**holes).  They are calling me, and won't send me verification of the debt.  I have been through my papers, and I now realize that this debt was settled.  These people buy OLD debt, then try to collect.  They are also extremely RUDE, as other posters have found out.  I will be sending them a letter staying that this debt is past the statute of limitations in my state(AL), and they can kiss my fat behind!!

These people have been calling on and off for over 3 years. Nothing seems to deter them. On the message they left they said they were investigators and a claim had been file against me. They said
I wrote a bad check and that was a terrible offense in my state. I work in collections and I know what
my states laws regarding bad checks and collection laws. Do not deal with these people they are
going against all the laws for the Fair Debt Collection Act. Best thing to do add the number to your
    blocked call list.

These people "claim" to be a legit collection agency. The problem is, they get a hold of info that is not theirs to use and they scam people with it. I too have a credit card that went to collections. The thing is, I am now working with a debt settlement service that is taking care of all that for me. They are the ones who told me about these guys. The reason I questioned it was because he claimed he was calling to collect on an account that was settled and closed almost 2 years ago.

DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! THEY ARE FRAUDS!

They called me this morning, a man by the name of MR. Jambor answered my hello by saying my mother's name. I said no, she's not here with me and proceeded to tell him it was cell phone. He then told me to give him a number to reach her. I refused and asked for his name and company name, he said he couldn't and asked again for her number. I explained that I don't give out that information. " Well if she wont contact us then I'll mark her as uncooperative". I said I still needed his name and company name. He said FRS very quickly ( sounded like TRX on the phone). I asked him to repeat it and proceeded to just tell me his last name and a phone number to contact him. ( 866. 528. 0386). I told him I needed to know why he was calling and he refused and barked at me that it was against the law for him to tell me anything. I then asked him how he got my number. " Through my investigative services" , I asked which one and he refused to tell me, " I don't have anything else to tell you. I don't have to explain anything to you" and hung up. I called back, and he started barking at me that he was extremely busy and didn't have time to deal with me. I asked again for the company that gave him my number and he says " i can call whoever I want, any relative up and down the block to get into contact with her. I have nothing else to say to you". CLICK. I'm furious. I really would like to sue these people jsut so they can stop their antics. I will be calling their main office to complain. I wish 311 had a better means to complain. thanks for this site!!

Phone rang.  I answered it and they asked for Mrs. ________.  I replied that Mrs. ________ passed away in ____.  I asked what the call was in reference to.  He said he was looking for _______ or ______ _______ in which I said I had heard of the names but did not know the people.  He then wanted to know how I got this number.  I was getting very ill when he wanted to know numbers of family members to whom he was looking for.  I told him I knew some people with the same last name but did not know their numbers and that that was private information and I was'nt going to give it out.  He then started mouthing out and said he did'nt want to beat around the bush and other things so before I could put my own flame-thrower out he hung up.  Where do these people get off demanding you give information about someone you don't know after you have already explained that you have a number of someone that had passed away years before.  I think that one way to help stop this is to have a loud whistle when then call and start demanding and blow it loud and long then hang up.  It they want to get demanding then we can to when they don't want to listen to reason.

Got two calls in a row from these dudes.  First with the above number, then with 952-831-4800.  Wouldn't tell me anything other than a name and that they needed to get in touch with me on a "personal matter".

I said I'd take a message, and they gave me another number to call back on.  Needless to say, I didn't call back.

    call them back for free
their toll-free numbers are 866-438-2860 and 877-476-4131.  use a land line

if you are not the person they claim to be calling, call them a dozen times for every time they call you.

do not tell them anything.  just demand to talk to the person who called you.  do not give your name, as they do not use real names when making calls.

if you get a recording telling you to leave a message, just put your phone by the television speaker, and let it run for as long as it will allow.

(if you really owe the debt, contact the ORIGINAL creditor if you want to be honest and pay your just debt.   Do NOT deal with these 3rd party collectors.)

Yes, if you tell a credit collector that you cannot accept personal calls at work, it is against the Federal Trade Commission for them to call you at work again. Document all calls and turn them into the FTC on the FTC website. See more info in Kevin Trudou's book on getting out of debt. Cell phones - don't answer, or there may be an option to send their calls directly to voice mail. Above all - get informed of your rights before paying a dime!!
