I called back and they said they were American Express (which I don't have an account with) and they used my name and number to look up my records...when they found nothing they asked for my social security number. When i declined, they persisted, getting brash. As I don't have an account I assumed it was a sales call and once they denied this I assumed it was a scam and hung up. Strange.

They called us today around 9:30am-9:39 and called us six times, we didn't even pick up the phone and just let the fax take over.
this kind of stuff needs to stop.

I have actually called the amex to ask them if the number belongs to them. They said its their collection department.I had an account with them years ago... So its not a spam.

yes, they are Am Express collections.  Looking for "Paul".    Since I am not him and my number mine for last 15 years, they are removing my number from their records.

Keep getting endless calls from this number, after reading previous posts saying it's AmX.....decided it's phising as my AmX acct up to date.  DON'T ANSWER.

Received numerous called from this number.  I DO NOT have American Express.  The caller insisted on knowing if this was a wrong number?????  He also wanted to know if it was a cell, home, or business number.

they are a bill collecting agency   not even for me   for someone with my last name  dont even know who they're looking for   lol

Some person who ansewered my return call in the first ring and claimed to be "American Express" but wouldn't give me an operator number or any type of ID # and rudely asked for my personal information// clearly mase me question their validity as all corporations have automated answering messages these days...SBAM if you ask me!!!!

They called here for my ex - who I haven't spoken to in 5 years, they even told me my number was removed - but couldn't say why they called.  He was actually polite about the whole thing.  but I know now not to answer this one next time.

keep gettin repeat calls even when I am tryin to fix things with my debts. fell on hard time. By law calls are surpose to stop.

Called twice this morning.  I didn't answer. They left no message either time.

They called me three times today on my cell phone.  When I called back the number, they also said it was American Express.  They wanted my name, which I refused to give them.  I am on the Do Not Call List.

I noticed that most of the previous messages were from 2011.  Now it's 2013 and they're doing the same thing.

I had a call on my cell from this number at 8 am in the frickin morning on my day off !  I didn't answer when I saw the number and went back to sleep.  

Later on that day, I called the number from my home line and nobody answered after many rings (at least 10!).  

Ever since then have had nothing but trouble with home line.  Lots of static.  Friends who try to call me say they get (on occasion) an Indian accented man saying "this is American express, how can I help you".  My son tried to call a neighbour down the street 2 times today and both times got a funny message stating he was being charged for the call.

I reported this to both my phone company and the police (who I hope take it seriously).

What is going on in this world anyways?

Got a call from this number, they were looking for someone who most likely had this phone number before me. I got my phone number from Google Voice about half a year ago. Once I said that I don't know the guy, and confirmed the phone number, they said that they will remove my number so I won't get any more calls.

They called me four times in two minutes...gave the info to my laywer.

They call me contantly, never answer these people unless you are prepared for an agressive non stop barrage.  If you can handle this type of aggressive behavior, and can argue back, fine, otherwise, don't anwer.

They called my work number every day for literally a few weeks, FINALLY left a message saying they were "American Express."  They couldn't give an account number and used a name of a person that had this phone number over four years ago.  SPAM - phising call center (based on background noise and accent, I'll take this bet) from India.  I told them to stop calling me and certainly didn't give my real name...
