- blackie| 1 replyIf you do not recognize a number, do not answer your phone. If nobody ever answers these calls, they will stop. Do not call them back or become upset. These calls are a ploy by the cell phone providers, propogated by the sale of our phone numbers to anybody willing to pay for them, to increase usage, and therefore increase charges and provide them justification for more bandwidth allocation. If nobody ever answers these calls, then the calls will not generate the desired effect. The calls will then become an expensive liability to the callers, and they will be forced to stop.
If somebody calls you from a number you do not recognize, and it is important, they will leave an important message. Then, you can call them back. - DnayMy friend has been receiving harassing phone calls from these people for a year now. They are looking for my family who has a deliquent bill with AT&T. Thing about it is that my friend does not know my family. It appears as though, this CCA company gathered her phone number off a previous call log from AT&T. I called them back in March to have them stop calling my friend. They say that her name and number will be removed, but then within a couple of months, they call again. I call them back requesting the same as before, and they tell me it's a new account that they just recieved in their department - - - BU!!$H*T!!! It's the same flippin company. I refuse to give them any information to contact my family if they cannot give me any information as to why they are harassing my friend. I feel as though this is a major invasion of my privacy, and plan on contacting state officials and even an attorney, as this is not even my bill.

- SaraJust received a collection bill from these f#### scammers. I am completely current on my ATT bill, never late, and now I get a huge bill, $310, for deliquent account? I have all my payment records online and am dreading dealing with this situation knowing that I will be forced to deal with 1.)scum at CCA 2.) [***] at ATT who don't care that I am being screwed out of money. What a slap in the face by ATT to let this happen, and they do. [***].

- JetchI got a call and they were looking for my Mom who lives 4 hours away in St. Louis. She & I haven't lived together for over 10 years now and they tracked me down as a "known associate" by my name. We haven't had the same last name since I was about 10 and I'm 30 now!! WOW!! Kinda creepy, if you ask me!!
- Caller: CCA
- JetchOh, and the first time they called I took a message for my mom and she says she's totally current with her ATT bill, it's not even active anymore!! This time they called I acted like I had no idea who they were talking about.

- MReavesThese people called my place of employment numerous times but since I'm only actually in the office once every week or two they were basically harassing my coworkers. When I finally called them I immediately got a bad vibe. The woman said it was regarding an AT&T balance (which I, like the other person above have a current account with AT&T). I told her I had already disputed the charge a couple of times via mail (which I have, and had no response validating the debt) and that it was ridiculous that they are calling my work and she said "No, what's ridiculous is your $55 debt you refuse to pay." I got PISSED and told her I was on my employer's time and if they call me at work again I will file harassment charges. At this point there is no evidence that this debt is legit, and there's no way I'm giving anyone a dime until I see proof. I may just file a complaint with the FTC (www.ftc.gov) and I think everyone else should do the same.

- Not VictoriaTo update both "Fed Up" and "Joe", none of the URLs they've given are actually pages for the company in question on 2/13/09; all are now generic collections of links related to the topic of collections. This outfit goes to great lengths to hide its tracks... and is taking advantage of the fact that AT&T (if not other phone companies) fails to make it clear in the instructions for their call blocking that said call blocking service is solely for local numbers and won't work on telemarketers or long distance numbers, etc.
Can't say anything about the situation in other states, but in Missouri, at least, it's not worth the time and effort to report them without more info than just the phone number and time of day... seems info from sites like this one apparently isn't deemed reliable by the AG's office -- and no wonder when the company just hides its tracks again whenever someone digs up a URL... - Georgia Consumer877-528-3499 is CCA, based in Dallas Texas. I stated the call is being recorded and if they continue to talk, then concede to being recorded. I ask them to state their full company name, their operator name and employee number. I then state current time and date for the recording and ask the nature of their call. I then stated our number is listed on the national no-call directory and state of GA no call directory. When asked for their business license # and what county it was issued in, they hung up.

- M. MartinezThis call came in with a request to press (1) to find out who is calling. Did so, a voice sais it was important to call 1 877-489-1148, first in English then in Spanish. The tone was so phony I decided to look the number up. Found out it comes from CAA,Inc., presusmably a collection agency but after reading what others have gone through, obviously a sleazy con game. Am sending this to ATT which is my carrier to see if there is anyway to block creeps like this. Suggest if enough people complain maybe someone at ATT will take action. If not the FCC should be be made aware of these congenital idiots.

- Ex-EmployeeThis company calls itself CCA which stands for Collection Compnay of America. A few collections tips they can not call you more than once a day that is if they even speak one word to you that is you can hang up and by law they can not call again for 3 days. You can also tell them you are seeking a veral cease on calls which by law they have to abdide by for 30 days until they get a letter from you protesting the charges which when they receive the letter will by you even more time. They have to positively identify you by social security number and address if they don't they are breaking the law. They can not at all disclose any info of the nature of their call to a third party or on your machine also against the law. They can't call earlier then 8am and no later than 9pm if they do so its illegal and you can easily sue then on any of these violations. I really do know I had the unfortunate displeasure of working in the collections side and in processing. THIS COMPANY SUCKS ASS!! They treat everyone horriblely employees no exceptions and the employees make a [***] 11.00 hr. I quit! i HATE it!
FYI--The whole big staffers are relatives who know [***] about finances or collections. Candace is has slept with a few married men had kids with two different daddies and then fired these men (Married men). And she DOES NOT even hold a college degree. I have met her more than I would like and she is [***] psycho bipolar and snobby!! Can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig!!
Did I mention that the employees smoke dope on their lunch breaks!! Known fact in company too!! - Ex-EmployeeThe main number is: 1-800-886-9177
And their employees are trained to be mean I know that how they tried to train me to be and then when they really make someone cry on the phone I [***] you not they hang up and the managers high five and laugh!!! This company is evil!!!!!!!!!!!
I have my degree from college and now work for a job that helps people not degrades them.
P.S. The employees are nasty most look like they just got out of a prison cell! - CyberstormThose guys are very mean and they are trained to be mean. There is nothing else you can do except you report to some government department. Don't waste time talking to them, I tried to talk to their supervisor or supervisor's supervisor, you know what? First, they are not going to transfer you to their supervisor, I am pretty sure they just transfered me to the coworkers, and helped each other, and they both laughed at me; Second, even if you are transfered to their supervisor, the supervisor will be even more mean because that's their policy.
Don't waste your time talking to them, those are really the worst people in the world.- Caller: CCA
- Call type: Debt collector
- former employee replies to blackie1. cca is a ligit company - stands for collection company of america
2. this is a collection agency that is bound by very rigid FDCPA collection laws that prohibit disclosure of infomation to 3rd parties so if you call & they can not verify you are the intended party - to save thier jobs - the reps can discuss the matter any further. they have families to feed and provide for too.
3. yes some of the reps are rude, but many of them are professional and nice but will not risk thier jobs and livelihood for your curiosity
4.if you calmly let the reps know they have called the wrong numb you will have better success at getting your number removed. lets face it - no one likes to be yelled at and if you call in yelling and screaming that they have the wrong number then the rep may not remove your number because it upsets you so much - so play it cool.
5. reps are paid $11 an hour and can get a raise of .50 if they meet 100% of goal 3 months in a row, however that raise will be taken from them if they fall below 80% of goal 3 months in a row. reps are not given personal days, are punished for time off requests by getting written up and medical insurance can take up to half of every paycheck. there is no room for promotion unless you are white and or sleeping with someone high up in the company. so while many of the reps are working there they are not happy and are frustrated for being treated like slaves. that is not a reason for lack of professionalism however there is no real incentive to provide stellar customer service. the powers that be rule with iron fists and uphold double standards that are incredible to say the least, most of the managers are negative, verbally abusive, they play favorates and pit reps against each other. the work atmostphere is exteamly negative and toxic. the work schedule is insane. most reps work 6 days a week, and have no flex time to handle personal business such as doctors appointments, parent/teacher conferences etc. reps have to beg managers to get the free coffee, cream and sugar that is provided. reps are warned to arrive early enough to make coffee but there is never coffee to make because managment hordes it.
6. most people who are getting calls from this number have had or currently had ATT services. Anytime you call ATT to change your services in any way, ATT will change the last 3 digits of your account number, lie and say they sent out a final bill 3 months later, and when you dont pay (because you didn't know there was a balance) they send you to collections. ATT will not combine the former bill with your new bill and if you have discontinued services with ATT they will not send a final bill so you can pay it before it goes to CCA for collections.
7. CCA does report to all 3 credit reporting agencies. 30 days after your account is sent to CCA it will be put on your credit report and affect your FICA scores - CCA has been collecting for ATT for over 20 years
there is so much more that could be said about this racists slave driving company but the long and the short of it is this: it is a ligit collection agency that may be calling because they have a wrong number (the former number of the original debtor) or you just may have an account in collections that you didn't know about because ATT is so sneaky that they will send your account with your full name and entire social security number to them to collect on. so if you get a call from this number just call to find out if they have a wrong number or if you have a problem you need to resolve. - KittaI am getting these calls too. Don't specify anything. I called them back and they say they are a debt collector and give the amount owed and don't give any information. They have been calling some of my friends too asking for me. These guys by all indications are a con artist. Avoid these guys and start reporting this to the attorney generals office. I just did that.

- karenMy experience is basically the same as the others. They had us with an AT&T bill from an address in Santa Clarita, CA. We have never lived in CA. I checked my credit report and a Santa Clarita address was on my report! The address for my Toyota payment had been changed to this address. I had to get it worked out with Toyota.
This phone company will send you paperwork wanting all your information to get the $35 AT&T off their records. There is no letterhead, real suspicious looking. I think a PO Box.
They say they are Eos Credit reporting. I think they are stealing identities!
They are very rude! Hung up on me.- Caller: EOS Credit Reoprting
