Think you have to text to 02070810976 not the 87770.  I can only assume this is what my text reads anyway.  Ill try both

Just got a message from 87770 about five free lotto lines!!

I've been looking on the web as to who this may belong to and came across this web site http://www.87770.co.uk/.

Apparently, they are saying that they only send free messages from that short code number. I requested my balance as i am PAYG and I haven't been charged surprisingly!!

To stop it, you need to text STOP back to 87770. I called the number 02070810976 that was on the text message I got, and this just gives you the option to stop, if you don't want to to text.

Its safe to say, I will never be filling out an online survey again!!!

Ive been getting messages from this number quite a lot lately. As i didn't have any credit on my phone, i called the number that you mentioned so that i could stop the messages. The messages did stop, and i also got a free messages confirming that the messages had been stopped. So would definitely recommend to anyone, to call 02070810976, which is an automated service if you want to stop the messages and don't have enough credit

Don't respond-these people charge premium rates for sending you a text message. Read the posts above for the link, click on their privacy policy and look for instructions for opting out. There might be a different 5-digit number to text STOP to. You might have to capitalize stop because it will not work otherwise.
Do this right away because they will steal your pay-as-you-go credit and put a tap on your phone to withdraw more money if you have a zero balance, or keep right on billing you if you have a calling plan, leading to a very nasty surprise when you get your next bill.
Lastly, report them to the authorities. There was a court case earlier this year against PhonePayPlus for similar activities-they were found at fault, shut down and fined £50,000. Google the case to learn more about it. This might be them back in business and in defiance of the law.

Be careful, the word STOP sends a premium message to them for which they charge you £1.50

I was trying to move a boat during the storm of 02/01/2012.  Got soaked, tired and cold so went home. Discovered phone lost/mislaid  (it was in the boat and was found five days later)  All the phones credit was drained but several 87770 texts were noticed.  OK I filled in an online survey but I didn't sign up to have my money stolen.  I think words are being twisted here and I think they are splitting hairs.  Whilst the information in the text might be "FREE" there seems to be a whopping charge for sending the information (or is it a pure coincidence that all my credit is gone?)

I get text from 87770 but I have a Blocking app on my phone which blocks them, however it tells me when it's been blocked and I can view it - it's kind of like another messaging app which doesn't show up messages!!
I don't get charged for receiving them; but this may be because it's going to a blocked app!

Not going to bother texting back to stop the messages when they're not causing me an issue at the moment.

Had a phone call yesterday from Consumer Life asking  me to spend a few minutes to complete a survey. After answering their questions they asked if I wanted to be entered into a draw to win lottery tickets. Today I received this text from 87770 stating that I had the opportunity to win 5 tickets for the EuroMillions. Forget it - it is just a scam!!!!
