They keep leaving a message to call them back (it's an automated message).  Like many people have wrote before, I do not owe money to anyone and I will not call them back.  Let them waster their time calling...they will just continue to get my answering machine!  hahahahahaha to them!

First - they can't find MY number in their database that they are calling from. They won't provide me with their business license number to authenticate they are a valid company through searching that state's website license data base. THEY requested MY name and MY social security number over the phone. BE VERY CAREFUL - seems to be a identitiy theft ploy, and is certainly not verifiable !!! A website and caller ID do not, a vaible company, make !!  BEWARE !!!

These people KEEP calling. I see there number I pick up the phone hang right up and next thing THEY call right back...This has happened at least 10 times. Finally I asked what they wanted and they hung up on me..BUT they keep calling back EVERYDAY and least twice in a roll.

I have been harrassed for a long time by these people. I have a debt WELL over 10 years old now and my credit rating right now is better than my husbands which is pretty damn good. These people are scumbags and they have tried to use my old married name when calling me I just tell them NOPE i am not her!! YOU MUST HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER! Im not lying I am not that name anymore. Every time you do something having to do with your credit these jokers pop up again and start with the phone calling. I have been contacted at my place of business, my home and my cell phone. It is getting rediculous but ALL IN DUE TIME THESE PEOPLE WILL PAY!! Just wait and see this craziness cannot go on forever especially when they are asking for personal information like social security numbers. PEOPLE BE SMART AND DONT ENGANGE THEM IN CONVERSATION AND THEY WILL NEVER KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

they have been calling me and saying that i have a bill to pay. i never had and account this has to be a scam.

I though caller id would help me not be pestered by people who i don't want to talk to.  I hadn't counted on their incessent calling all days of the week for months.  After getting tired of getting up and going to the phone and looking at the caller id I blocked them.  Haven't heard from them yet.  Still dont know who it is but if they can't leave a message then their not worth talking to.

Since I got my new cell phone, I've been called by these folks.  Here's some recon to put you all at ease.

Portfolio Recovery Services - This company is out of TEXAS, and they're a debt collection service.  They, like others, buy 'debt' in bulk from companies and work (sometimes unethically) to collect the debt.
- Don't be shocked to hear from them, if you owe someone ELSE money
- Don't take it personally, they act this way cause they heard every lie in the book, and have to assume you are lying, and trying to escape debt.

It's not a Scam, they really are a debt collection agency.  If you 'didn't do business with them' read what I said above.  They purchase debt from all kinds of companies.  So they're more like a last resort collection service, since they've technically already paid your debt to someone else, they just want to collect their money.  And Finally...

... I would love nothing more than to dropkick these rude [***].  5 calls every morning from 8am - 9am, for the last 4 months.  At this point its my alarm clock.  Dude said my son would grow up just like me not paying his bills, he said I was white trash, and when I told him US MARINES, he called me a baby killer.  So I told him I should've been a bean-counter, $5.00/hr, debt collector killer...

I just got a call from this number, they identified themselves as Portfolio Recovery Associates and they informed me that the conversation would be recorded.  The lady was nice and explained that this was an attempt to collect a debt.  The debt clearly didn't belong to me and I was alarmed that they had so much of my personal information.  Full name and SSN, which they released as follows: is your last four ####? and is the first 3 ###?  Seems legit for face value but I had my credit run not to long ago and there was nothing on the report that coincides with this debt that is reportedly 10 years old!

She stated that they would turn the debt to the dispute department and then send me a dispute package in the mail.

get calls from this number daily on my cell phone. I don't answer calls that I don't recognize the number so I have not spoken to anyone. So far, they haven't even left messages.. they just call. I finally decided to google the number to find out who they are.. so ok.. they are one of those bottom feeders that buy junk debt that have expired statue of limitations and they like others try to bully you into settling something they have no business even trying to collect! Educate yourself and check out www.creditinfocenter.com it's a very cool website and has lots of sample letters to send to these bottomfeeders. There is a process you follow. If they fail to cease and desist, you can file suit on the basis of harrassment. The sample letters have the info you need. Not only do these bottom feeders have to validate the debt, but they have to be licensed to collect in the state you reside. Many aren't! So good luck!!!

I get a call every monring between 8 and 9 AM.  I tried to enter the number on my call block service but number is not accepted when I enter it in the system.  Filed a complaint with the FTC, hope that gets the calls to stop and the company gets fined.
