they call often and very rarely leave a message but when they do they never say what it is about simply to call them back

As a ACA certified collector and a former employee of Constar Financial, I would like to say that not all collection agencies buy debt.  Most work on contract with the original creditor.  If you feel you are being scammed, call the Attorney General in the state in which you live.  However, if you owe a debt, whining about your mistreatment will not take care of that.  It is true that as debt ages, it can become past statute and there are different laws about the collection of this debt.  If that is the case with your debt, educate yourself about the law.  Again, if you owe a bill you should just pay it instead of trying to blame others in order to justify your own irresponsibility,  It is not like any of your excuses fool anyone.  It is clear you are trying to avoid paying for goods or services you have received.  Part of the reason interest rates are so high and loans are so hard to get is because of people like you.

Lets see here.  Look at the first syllable of the word. CON.  That is one red flag.  Constar. Coinstar.  Seems like a very made up company.  Not an official website anywhere on the web.  Nothing but red flag scam postings.

They are a collection agency. I had stupidly co-signed for a car for a so called friend and they quit making payments on the car. so now they are coming after me. Do not co-sign for something unless you know they can be trusted to do so. This will mess up your credit file just as well as if it was your debt.because in a way, it is now your debt.

Seeking advice. My son owes money on a car from years ago. He paid his car payements/ loan for 3 years yet, in the end he still owed $7000 dallors. The orginal company/ title holders adventually sold his account, which was sold again and again for the 3rd time to this company in question, Constar fianical.  Wanting to resolve this account I agreed to pay them $3000 but needed assurance that they would in fact send me the titlle on the car. Should I send them money and will they keep their promise to send me the title/ pink slip on the car? please advise?

Cavin - you must work for them personally.  If someone owes money, the collectors don't have to be JERKS!

These people are bottom feeders and super jerks too. They keep calling me at work after I asked them a number of times. I consigned for my daughter and I want to find out way was going on. Every time I talked to these RUDE A holes it just got worse. They don't care about the law or anything else, just so you know too this is the type of people Harley Davison deals with is one company I know of. So you may want to keep that in mind when you buy something you may want to look and see if they deal with bottom feeders like this one

They have already taken our social security numbers. We called the creditor and spoke to the supervisor. They do not use this company and have never heard of them. CONSTAR bottom feeder debt collector.  Out of SOL debts, debts that are so old they are dust, and MADE UP DEBTS!  The last one that did this, Dynamic Recovery Solutions, I make a complaint to the BBB and in three days got a email back from the BBB saying the company had closed the account. HAHA!   They lied to the BBB and said they were only trying to collect 206 dollars for Columbia House which we have never had when they were really trying to collect 2600 from Accelerated Financial, another bottom feeder who was trying to collect for Citibank for a card we never had!  Funny how they scurried back in their hole once the BBB got involved.  BBB wanted to know if we wanted to drop it and we said HELL NO, they lied to YOU! And they lied to US!  So don't deal with this company either. They are all trying to make fake money because of the economy.  If they threaten you with a 1099-C, don't worry. Just send the verification letter.  If they can't verify, and they can't , you won't hear from them again.

I had been receiving numerous calls from this number on my cell phone during the day during my work hours. They never left a message. Yesterday, my name is paged on the overhead system saying that I had a phone call. When I picked it up, I heard, "What is your full name, current mailing address and last four of your SSN." I said "Excuse me? You called and asked to speak with me. If you don't already know my name and info, I am not talking to you. And do not call my work again. I am not allowed to get personal phone calls while I am at work." The person laughed and said, "I can call you at work anytime I please, and I will call you everyday." I told the person that he could call my cell after I got off from work, and I would be happy to talk to him at that time. He called back yesterday evening. He said he was with Con Star Financial and he needed to verify that he was speaking with the correct person, and again asked me for name, address and SSN. I told him I did not give that information over the phone. He told me that I had to give this info to him because I was breaking the law if I didn't. Well, I didn't give him the info. He went on to tell me that I owed $9884 to Ally. I asked for him to please mail me the information, as I have already made arrangements with Ally and am current on the arrangements. He told me that Ally had contracted with Con Star to collect, and that any arrangement with Ally was null and void. I told him once again that I would not give him any info, nor make any arrangements until I had written proof of the debt from Con Star, and until I had confirmed with Ally that my arrangement was null and void. He told me that his company could not mail the information, but he could offer me a settlement of $5000. I once again told him no. He began getting extremely rude. I warned him 3 times, and hung up on him. He called right back, and said "You are making this harder on yourself. I will file this in court tomorrow and your wages will be garnished. Why don't you settle with me. I will lower the amount to $3000 if you can give me your bank routing number and account number, and six check numbers. We will run those checks each month for $500, and your debt will be gone in 6 months, which is much sooner than if you follow through with Ally. I told him that I would not give that information to him. He mumbled something and hung up the phone. Low and behold, he called me at work again today...knowing that he has my cell phone number. When I answered the phone, he said, "This is Walter, are you ready to settle now, or do you want me to keep calling until you get fired?" I told him to quit calling at work, and until he could provide the paper work showing the debt, he need not call me at all, and I hung up. He called my work every 15 minutes for over 2 hours. I went to the front office and advised them not to put the call through unless it was from my family. I told them what "walter" had said about getting me fired...so, the very next time he called (I was in the office at the time) my co-worker told him that I no longer worked there and not to call again. He immediately called my cell phone, and when I answered, he said, "I told you I would keep calling until you got fired or agreed to settle!" and he began laughing. I have contacted Ally, and was told that my account and payment agreement was still valid, and that they do not contract with Con Star. The rep advised me that they had had other customers calling and saying that Con Star had contacted them and was threatening them as well. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB.
Whatever you do, request for proof of the debt from Con Star. They will not mail it, because they don't have it! If they cannot provide proof of debt, do not send them anything. Do not give your banking info...unless you want your account drained!

These people called from 8779682735. It is a robocall that asks if someone (by name) is there...the recording says, "if not, Press 3". You assume it is to be taken off the list, but they are fake debt collectors. They have called in the past, and we have told them that we do not owe them any debt! Please prosecute these people.

These idiots at Constar began calling me -- once daily -- and they not only called my cell and home phones, they called my husband, mentioned some personal tidbits to him, which he had no knowledge of, and looked for me through him.  How they got his cell number, I don't know.  They have no reason to call in the first place -- I don't have any delinquent accounts, and this company is pursuing me (or my information) on the heels of Central Credit Services, which has been hounding me on my cell phone since just after I received a lawsuit settlement from EOS / CCA over a phony cell phone debt.  EOS / CCA had called me multiple times and even sent me a letter, "offering" to "settle" my alleged $600-plus "debt" for a mere $360 or so.  I even checked with AT & T about that, and let them know that this occurred, for I use a pre-paid phone with no contract, and they confirmed that I had no debt with them, and offered to change my cell # for free, which I deferred for now.  One year after the original harassment began, I won the lawsuit, and shortly after, CCS started calling.  Sometimes, I think CCS backed off (finally), and I go a week without calls.  Now, Constar started calling.  This is never-ending crap!  I'm planning on suing both CCS & Constar -- it's the only way to get them to stop calling!  Also, if I had delinquent accounts, I doubt I'd have a decent credit score, or get a new credit card from my bank!
