Straight up scam got me

My wife & I have been receiving "collection" calls for a K.  Whitcomb off & on for years. We have called the numbers left on our voicemail stating: "There is No ??? Whitcomb here, never has been. We have had the phone number they are calling for over 30 + years. We gave our names. They said they would mark the number as "invalid". There was a lull for about a 1 1/2 to 2 year. Now it has started again. The message left was an Automate device. So even if you answer it, you won't get anywhere. We are (/have been) trying to reach the company the call originated from. While the company has a Phoenix, AZ base office, the number calling is a local, in-state number (non-toll free). Which calling that number is useless. Yet the message leaves a toll free number "877-968-2735". Still no luck. Attempting to reach the company via email, etc. RoBo calls.... Maybe I need to create a RoBo answering machine to reply in kind and mess with their logic circuits.
