Just a junk debt buyer, however there is apparently some evidence they are connected to NCO Financial, so take care they don't double-team you.

Their contact information is as follows:

    Merchants' Credit Guide Co.
223 West Jackson Blvd, Suite 900
    Chicago, IL 60606-6912
    Phone: 312-360-3000
    Fax: 312-360-3024
Consumers are told to call: 888 249 4134.
    http://www.merchantscreditguide.com/contact-merchants-credit-guide.php

Their callers use a host of made-up names, so don't pay any attention to them; just answer the phone and indicate that you are required to advise them this call is being recorded in the case of future litigation. They will either immediately hang up or become more professional and courteous.

Ask them what you want to know; if the caller is too incompetent to answer your questions, or they continue to make harassing calls, then mail them a certified 'stop-calling' letter and save your signature receipt.

If there is any real basis for collection, they will either write you a letter to offer a deal or sell the debt to someone even lower on the feeding chain, if that's possible.

866 249 4134 - Yup, been receiving dubious calls from this # - I'm not late on any payments - Be aware, perhaps call block them, that'll be my next approach. Although I'm surprised, since I'm registered on the "do not call list".

Got a call today from this number...888-249-4134.  Didn't answer because didn't know the caller and it said Not Provided on the caller Id.  The answering machine kicked off and a message asked for me and said if it wasn't me to hang up.  So I hung up and they called right back.  I hung up again.  They haven't called back again yet but the days still young!

This is a scumbag collection agency.  They always ask for the same person
(Aubrey Reed), despite having been told many times that no such person is known to me and that I wish them to discontinue their harassment.

It is shameful that such people can flout the laws of the country, and the government seems powerless to punish them.

This is another collection company that doesn't give a damn about the law or the consumer.  Of course, that also apparently describes the Feds who are paid to enforce the 'Do Not Call' laws.

This is another call from the same scumbag collection agency; they call at least once a week.  They always ask for the same person (Aubrey Reed), despite having been told many times that no such person is known to me and that I wish them to discontinue their harassment.

Zombie Debt Collector -  DO NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION TO THEM.  They do not follow the law and the debts are outside the statue of limitations or have been discharged in bankruptcy.

If they have a valid claim, they will mail you a settlement offer.  Do not be intimidated.

These people call all the time, leaving a message asking for "Irma Gonzales". There is NO one by that name here. They have been calling for about a year and they call very early, and many times a day. I am so sick of this.

Got the call was for someone else. We have had the current number for about 4 months. These people do not up date their records. Called them back and woman on the phone was very short and curt. It's just another credit collection group that have the manners of a bear with a thorn in it's paw.

Had this message on my answering machine today:

"This is a message for Tracy D Lester.  If you are not Tracy D Lester please hang up or disconnect.  If you are Tracy D Lester please continue to listen to this message.  There will now be a three second pause in this message...  By continuing to listen to this message you acknowledge that you are Tracy D Lester.  You should not listen to this message so that other people cab hear it as it contains personal and private information.  There will now be a three second pause in this message to allow you to listen to this message in private...  This is Stacy from merchants Credit Guide.  This communication is from the Debt Collector.  This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.  Please contact us about an important business matter at 888-249-4134.  Once again that number is 888-249-4134.  Thank you."

    1.  The statement that staying on the line after a three second pause acknowledges that you are the person they name is a bunch of s**t...  how, as in my case, is a machine supposed to know to disconnect?

    2.  Allowing three seconds to allow the person to listen in private is funny...  If I picked up the phone, would not the message be private anyway since the phone would be to my ear?

    3.  I have had this # for over four years now.  I receive calls several times a month from "financial" institutions looking for Tracy Lester.  No matter how many times I tell the callers that I do not know the person and ask that my number be disassociated with Ms. Lester, the calls continue.

I keep telling these people Im not Michael Robinson and they keep calling anyway. I have no debt collections and they don't seem to understand when I say to  take my number off their calling list, they need to do it. My advice. Let all unknown 800, 888, and 887 numbers go to voicemail. Why waste your time on some sleezy company trying to pin someone else's debt on you?
