Yep we got the charge too. We heavily use this card in all sorts of ways, online, restaurants, you name it... Citibank Visa. $429.00 to ID Safe when we called they argued with us that we signed up for the service a year ago and it was a renewal. We never, ever, sign up for that crap.

Well same happened to me a $429.00 charge to my Citibank. I called and actually talked to a lady on the phone. She informed me that it was a service that I signed up for last year and this was the renewal fee. I told her I had signed up for no such service and she said that they would refund my card in 3 to 4 days. When business day 5 came I called Citibank there has been no refund. I canceled my card and they listed it as a fraudulent charge. ID Safe is a scam, do not wait to call your credit card company.

12/28/07 credit card (Chase) bill carried $429 charge and name "ID SAFE 886-2166045 NV".  Charge is bogus.  When I called number automated reply said leave contact information and listed customer service hours as between 10am and 5pm EST.  Challenged this charge and cancelled credit card. Shopped at TJ Maxx and Amazon and EZ-pass with this card.

Charge appeared, dated 1/8/08, "#ID SAFE" $429.00 on my VISA.  Called 888-261-6045 and spoke to some guy who said my credit card would be credited in 48 hours.  Didn't believe him so called my credit card customer service and disputed the charge.  Don't know how they got my credit card number.  I don't use Amazon or eBay. Surprised when I found this website with so many others who were charged.

Just received a statement with this outrageous charge.  Called the number and got a message about all representatives being busy.  So happy to find this site!  I didn't shop at amazon, lifelock, etc, but I did shop online around the holidays.  I have a citi mastercard.

Appeared on last statement, charge dated 12/21/07, "ID SAFE 888-2616045 NV $429.00" on my VISA.  Called 888-261-6045 and got a recording, said to leave contact information and listed customer service hours as between 10am and 5pm EST. A Nevada company with an east coast time??? Canceled the card and turned it over to the Visa Fraud unit. Had charged 2 items on-line in the past month. It's the 2nd time in 2 years that I've had to cancel the Visa card due to fraudulent charges.

I didn't get a call, but I did get the $429 on my Visa card. Thanks for this blog. It clears things up somewhat. I was going to wait until Monday, when they say on their answering machine they're open, to check this out. No need to wait now.

No call, charge only on Capital One card. Same info as the other posts. No idea who/what ID SAFE is or what they sell, but I think it's very suspicious.  I called CC and disputed charge.

Got my Jan statement and had this same charge. Called Capital One to open a fraud case and had my card suspended. Will cancel it once dispute is resolved.

Just noticed a charge on our card Sears Mastercard for $429 as well (on Jan. 11). We are going to dispute the charge. Never heard of ID Safe nor have we purchased any such product. We live in Vermont and have made very few purchases with the card over the past couple months - so I would be interested in how they got our number.

I guess I have joined your club.  Same phone number: 888-261-6045 and a recorded message.  I have notified my credit card company.  Thanks for posting your experiences.  No one called me, by the way.  The charge just showed up.

I guess I also have to join the club. ID Safe charged me$429.00 on my jan 08 bill from citi.Phone #888-261-6045.called and a person answered I told them I never ordered the service they said they would return my money If I would be so kind as to give them the last 4 numbers of my credit card ,so they could apply the credit  to my card. I then hung up and called citi to cancel my card and report ID safe to them.It just showed up, how?

My credit card company (Citibank) shows the charge as a general merchandise store and appeared to be absolutely unaware of this issue.  My sympathy for the losses they are about to face is rapidly decreasing though I of course really hope they catch these @$$h0!35.  One would think that after receiving numerous calls on this issue (Those of us listed here cannot be the only ones) that they would take a more proactive approach to prevent further losses.

No call that I am aware of, and I certainly did not approve or provide my credit card information. This is a scam. I discovered the $429 charge on my statement with the 888 number and ID Safe as the company. I called the number and spoke with "June" who said she would initiate a refund and when I asked to talk to a supervisor, she said she didn't have a supervisor that I could talk to. I told her this was a scam and that I would report them. She asked that I call back once the credit was issued in 5 business days. I went ahead and reported the incident to my credit card company as well.

I am a victim too.  $429 on my Citibank Mastercard like everyone else here.  Never signed up for this nonsense.  I didn't even bother calling this 888 number.  After reading this I disputed the charge and closed out my card.

Exact same thing happened to me...noticed a charge on my statement.  When calling the number, they answered as a answering service.  I told her I did not authorize such a charge. Gave her my last name and she had no records..
Told me to call back in 5 days. Yeh, right.

well so far it looks like cicibank  is the common thread.do all you agree?shall we call and find out what happened?

I got the same charge ID SAFE out of NV (888-621-6045)
This seems to be fraudulent!   I called my credit card company immediately (Capital One) they credited my account.

I received the same charge fro ID SAFE on the same phone number, for the same amount of $429. THis charged happened on 1/9/2007

I got a $429 charge from Id safe that I didn't authorize. I've been trying to call to no avail. Stopped payment through the bank.
