Ditto what you guys said. Caller wanted to know if I'd be available to be served a court summons tomorrow between 8 and 4, I said no. He said I needed to call the 888 number and I said I wasn't interested, he replied that he wasn't selling anything and that if I don't call I might miss my court date. I asked what it was in reference to, he said he didn't have details but gave me a case number, I asked what county and he said Los Alamos, I said there is no Los Alamos County in Texas and he hung up. I called the municipal court, the magistrate court and the district court in Los Alamos County New Mexico and they had no record, they said the case number I was given was not valid and nothing came up by name search. I'm sure it's a scam or some ancient debt that they bought and want to collect. Not in this economy!

My brother got a call from these people. He passed the number (888-447-5760) on to me. I was given a case number, threatened with a civil suit for a 12yr old credit card debt and offered a $638 settlement, etc,etc... They had quite a bit of information on my past, though nothing current. My case handler was Jesse Ramirez. His number is 888-434-2409 ext 101.

I received a call November 28 after 3:00PM New York time, the person on the telephone said that they have a delivery for me and that I was to be home from 9 to 4 to receive the package. I ask who was sending the package and the person said Franklyn Moss and associate.  I question the person because the name sounded like a lawyer office and he called me by my married name. I only use my married name with the telephone company.  Any legal document that I have is under my single name.
When I question him he tolls me to call the 888-434-2409 with file #.  I check the name on the internet and thanks to all this messages about this company I was prepare to call then and let then know that I will report them.  I set up my telephone with call ID to be sure that I keep record from now on.  
Approximately 30 minute after I call the Franklyn, Moss & associate I received a call, the name of the caller was recorded. The call was from Siebel Carl – 1-770 926-5021 telling me that the government has chosen me to receive a grant that I didn’t have to pay back that the money back.  The money was to be use to take care of the damage on my home, my car or to pay for my school.  As soon as she started I stop her and I told her that if government was to give free money he knew where to deposit it. They will no pay somebody just to let me know about it by phone. I called back the number the recording said that the number was disconnected.

Notify your bank, credit card company. etc and keep an eye on your credit report.  I'm not sure if it is possible but, you may want to contact the credit bureaus to see if they can put an alert on your information.

Received the same calls from the same numbers. In ref to a credit card back in 2003. Stating I was going to be sued in civil court and would be receiving civil documents as well. Wanted bank info, current address, etc. These people claimed there with a company named franklin moss and associates out of pennsylvania. Researched it on the internet and found all of your testimonials. The following are all the numbers I was given and that have been contacting me: 336-134-5678, 888-447-5760,888-434-2409. I was told I was speaking with a Joe Brown. He was very rude as well. I had also spoke with A Liz who couldn't give me any info and referred me to these numbers with a file number.

i received a phone call stating that i had some criminal case papers to be delivered to me, i was then given a phone # 1-888-434-2409 to call & a case # to refer to. curiosity getting the best of me, i called the # back to find out what they were talking about, and i was asked for the last 4 digits of my ss#. i was then informed that my caseworker was in a meeting & would need to call back. i then proceeded to tell them that they must have the wrong person, which they responded: "its you, you just gave us your last 4 digits of your social". i said again: " well, its not me & you don't have to get snooty with me" & then i hung up.

My sister got a call in the same manner.  It was about my mom at my sister house, fishy, red flags.  I called and they wouldn't talk to me because I couldn't verify the the last 4 of her social.  That is when I googled Franklin Moss and the number and realized it was a scam.  I called both mom and sister and told them if they called again to tell them to stop calling and if they do not I will have my lawyers contact them.  Slimmy jerks I hope they get put out of business!!!

CHECK your credit report. I hd the same thing happen to me. I got online got a copy of my report from www.annualcreditreport.com (free), then called them and had a 90 Fraud Alert and a Security Freeze put on it from Transunion. If someone tries to open up any credit, the company they are trying to open it with cannot view your report and is given your phone # to verify you are the one opening the acct.

My parents have gotten 2 calls, one last week and one this week, asking for me. I have never lived with my parents at that address, or even that city. The caller is rude and tries to scare my elderly parents in to giving up my information. I havent spoken to my parents in over 5 years. I did call them for the holidays and they relayed this message "you have some people wanting to service you papers for a lawsuit" and gave this number 888-434-2409 and to ask for the "civil procedure division". The finny thing is i have zero debt, i dont owe anyone anything, and no way can someone be suing me for any reason.
Secondly, I have a full understanding of the "fair debt collection practices act" (read this) and no way can a non attorney say "they are going to sue you". They can say "we may take legal action" but cannot make the direct statement "we will sue you" especially if they are not on the bar in the state you reside.
This has to be a scam. Im not even bothering calling back...

Don't know why I didn't look this company up before getting upset with them. I never did find out what the scam they are pulling is. Or what they gain buy threatening a frivolous lawsuit. I actually have no idea what the debt they are referring to is so I got pretty mad at them. I first informed them that I would be recording the conversation which got them extremely upset. After yelling at me for about five minutes they still insisted that they would be serving me papers tomorrow. The thing that still worries me is they already had all of my info except for were I work. They still think I work at the same place I did in high school. I told them it would be fine to serve me my papers there. The lady's name was susan riley. I also checked all of my credit reports to try to find the debt they claimed I owe and found nothing. I intend to call them every day until they explain to me what this debt is.

My husband received this call while I was in the shower. They asked for me and said they have some legal papers for me, (he was thinking it was concerning my previous employers pension buy-out, so he took the message which included a phone number and case number). I tried calling back when I got out, only to get cut off after 10 minutes of holding. I tried calling back many times later that evening and got a recording that said "this is not a valid extension" so I gave up for the evening. I tried calling the next day starting at 8am EST, again getting the "this extension is not valid " message. I kept calling that day and about 11:30 am EST.,when the phone rang, did not go to that message, but put me directly on hold. What was odd to me was that NO company name was given, just the hold message. In reality it should have said "you have reached (add company name here) all of our associates are busy, your call will be handled in the order which recieved). BUT, me being the trusting person that I am, let it go. Finally a guy answered and asked for my "case" number, I gave it to him, he then asked me to verify the last 4 digits of my SS#, which stupidly I did (never again) he then went on to ask why I was calling (DUH) I said I was returning the call from the previous evening, and I asked him what this was about. He said you know what this is about and what are you going to do about this? Dumbfounded, I asked the STUPID question "I have NO idea what this is bout, plesae fill me in. He hesitetated a few moments, then said he could not and that he would have to transfer me to the person handling my case. NOW I am speaking to a guy that answered the phone" Franklin moss and associates, attorney at law, this is Javiar rameriez". I admit that scared me, as I have never had a lawyer call me before. I asked him what this was about, he went on to say (to my surprise) that I opened up a credit card in 2002, made purchases and payments until 2008, stopped making payments so it went to collection and he is willing to negotiate today on a settlement and that the statues of limitations in MI is 6 years. At thst point I became livid knowing I DID NOT open a credit card and it was just a scam. The scary thing was that I DID verify the last 4 digits of my SS# (YEAH, VERY STUPID). I told him that I have not opened any credit cards and it's a mistake. He assured me it was not and that they sent me a letter 45 days ago and since I did not contact them, they had the right to contact me. I, at that point was yelling at him, that I received nothing in the mail, did not open a charge and owed nothing to anyone.(we pay our credit card balances off at the end of each month). He was VERY insinstant on me making a settlement with his company that day(DUH the lightbulb went off) I told him to hang on while I got online to check my credit report. Based on what he said, I stopped paying in 2008, so it should still have been on my credit report. GUESS WHAT...there was nothing there. I told him "I owe you nothing. I then called transunion (credit reporting agency) access it for free at:www.annualcreditreport.com. (you can access the 3 report agecnies...Equifax, Experian and Transunion once each through the calander year) explained the situation...She then flagged my credit report with a Fraud alert (lasts 90 days) and she then put a freeze on my credit(lasts indefinatly, with pin # access for me only) meaning that if someone tries to apply for any kind of credit in my name and SS#, my credit history is blocked and they have to call my phone number for verification. I have since logged a complaint with the FTC.gog and the attourney general in my state and encourge all that have experienced this to do the same....Lets PUT AN END TO FING SCAMMERS. They can get a job like the rest of us if they want money.

PLEASE go to www.annualcreditreport.com, check your report if you gave them any info, put a fraud alert on it, and if you do not anticipate applying for credit, then freeze your credit, (you will be issued a pin # so you can view your report, but you will not be able to apply for any type of credit). I contacted the federal trade commision (ftc.gov) and the attorney general in my state in order to try to stop these scammers.

A caller called here every other day between 2-5 as well. They used my married name from 15 years ago. They did however, also ask for my last 4 of my SSN. Jennifer was the name of the receptionist.  She also said there were court papers for a civil suit. From the scale of 1-10, ten bring the greatest, they were a 7. I admit, they had me there for a minute. Time will tell of any fallout.

I just answered a phone call from 910-134-5678 because it calls here ALL THE TIME... It was "Franklin Moss Associates" regarding legal documents to be hand delivered to my house.  She wouldn't give me any info, and I told her I wouldn't be available. I asked where she was located & she claimed to be in Raleigh, NC, which is about an hour and a half away.  She said I had to call 888-434-2409 to reschedule or I could receive a Failure to Appear!  I called and while waiting for the answer googled and found all these scam reports!  So when the lady answered, I wouldn't give her any info.  Told her I was given the number but on Google it appears to be a scam.  She was annoyed with me then put me on hold when I wouldn't give her my last 4 digits of my SS # or my last name so she could "verify" my case file.  I waited a few minutes and then hung up.

I recieved a call from these people stating that they were going to serve me with a civil suit and that I needed to be at home to recieve the papers between 9 - 4. The lady didn't what it was about but told me to call a different number than she was calling from. After reciving a case # from the original caller I spoke with someone else who said that they were trying to settle an old debt from 2003. I asked them to email me a letter stating what they were trying to do and they did which had my name spelled wrong and the wrong last four digits of my SS# on it. They asked to settle for a one time payment or a payment plan.
I reluctantly did arrange a payment plan with them.
After reading all of these comments I relaize that I was scammed. I tried to call the original number back and it says that it is not in service. The second number is also invalid. I have canceled the card and spoken with my bank.
These people are the scum of the earth. I cant believe that they pray on working class people who are just trying to get by and do the right thing by taking care of old debt. I should have know better than to believe these fools. All I know is that they wont be getting any of my money. Whatever you do, don't give in to their BS story. I hope that they get what they deserve.

Just got off the phone with them 10 minutes ago. It's just a bogus attempt to collect some old debt they've bought for pennies on the dollar. I gave the guy a bunch of %$#@. He claimed to be a litigator. He offered me a one time deal at a deep discounted rate. He went back to his supervisor to "erase" some of the accrued interest. What lawyer does that over the phone? I told him I wanted to do some research before I agreed to anything, and he said after our call was done, the offer was off the table. I said,"Do your worst," and he scrambled. These guys are full of it.

I received the exact same call yesterday. I got the case number, and followed up. The same thing. A 12-13 year old debt, would settle for $638. Odd that it would be the same amount as your offer. If I didn't settle immediately they would be serving a summons today. For $638 I could keep it out of the courts. I told him, Kevin McAllistar, I wanted to research their firm before I did anything because it sounded like a scam. He didn't like that and told me that if I didn't act right then this offer would off the table, and I would be on the hook for the whole debt plus court costs. I told him to shove it, and do his worst. Either this is an attempt from one of those sleazy companies that buys old debt and tries to collect on it, or an ID theft scheme. We'll see if I get a summons today, but I'm not holding my breath.
