Report a phone call from 888-453-1922 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- pgswithout checking I called the number and added txt services to my call. they asked for certain verification info, but had a lot of information about my account. after the call, I got worried, googled the number (which I should have done first) and saw all this information!
Scared, I called Verizon wireless service directly -- they asked for the same verification info (including last 4 digits of my social) and had notes in my file that basically verified the service I had just added, and identified the rep I spoke to. She said they have different departments and some are 888 numbers. I have to conclude it's not a scam. - MikeIt is obviously a scam because:
1. Because a legit company like verizon would not sent out a text saying "UR on track 2 incur..."
2. It says that I'm on track to incur overage charges. My account has a 1400 minute balance, and I'm currently at 214, and my bill cycle ends in 3 days. I'm nowhere near my 1400 minutes limit, so this has to be a scam. - Verizon UserThis is not a verizon number they are trying to get confidential information from Verizon users text message is mispelled I have reported it to verizon security
- Verizon User UpdateJust checked with Verizon Fraud Department and they say it IS a legit Verizon number from a service that they use that does not recognize the large data/text/voice plans, strange they would send a message with "UR"
- WayneFunny everyone seems to believe it's Verizon, I don't have Verizon and got calls from this number. I hung up right away. Strange that I should get these calls after I put both my numbers on the "DO NOT CALL LIST"
- TroyI just got this text today. At first, I thought, "Great, my son's been wasting minutes again." Then, I thought, "Wait a minute, why would Verizon warn me that I'm going over my minutes? This must be a scam."
Verizon makes a fortune off overages. They WANT you to go over so they can charge you for the extra minutes. I know from experience that Verizon won't warn you. I wound up using my phone for work several months in a row. I rung up hundreds of dollars in overages, and Verizon never warned me. - kevinThis number called my cell, didn't hear phone ringing, but saw it on caller ID, they didn't leave a message, so I googled it and found this is just a scam. I see Verizon is checking into it, you think a billion dollar company would be getting quicker results. Today is June 25 2009, yet some of the posts are from 2008, same number calling people apparently, yet nobody getting busted for scams. Kind of irritating....
- TroyI guess I was wrong about this being a scam. I called 611, gave them the caller ID and number, and the person I spoke with said it was legitimate.
I still wasn't 100% sure, so I called the number. The recording sounded scratchy, and the person answered right away. She asked for my telephone account password. I intentionally gave her the wrong number. She immediately said, "No, that's not it, what are the last 4 digits of your SSN?" I then said, "Wait, I think it's...." and gave her the correct number. She instantly said, "Yes, that's the one." She didn't have time to type the number in, and I didn't hear any keypresses, so it must have already been up on her screen.
Then, she gave me detailed call usage information for each line on my account. She gave more account information that isn't even available to me online.
If it had been a phising scam, she would have accepted the first, incorrect, account password and wouldn't have been able to give me the detailed information. If you do get a call from here and have doubts, just give an incorrect password at first. Only Verizon would know that it's wrong. - Ai received a call from this number, but didn't answer, and didn't receive a message. i decided to google to try and find out who called, and ended up here.
afterwards, i checked my account info online. i am indeed very close to exceeding my minutes. i'm grateful for the heads up (even if they left no message).
i fully understand feeling things out to make sure it's not someone trying to scam you. however, i'd recommend NOT jumping to conclusions until you've got all of the information. - JDI have just called Verizon and they confirmed this number has nothing to do with them and not to give any information to whoever is calling from this number. So you idiots who think it's legit should really think again or else it's the scammers themselves reporting on here.
- Matt HickmanTHis IS Verizon Wireless. I called 611 on my VZW phone and asked my customer service rep to call this number, she verified that this IS in fact their loyalty center that will call you when you are getting close to going over your minutes.
- PatI just got the same txt -- It raised massive alarm flags as it used "txt-speak" such as "UR" instead of "you are" anmd the tone seemed less businesslike than legit txts. I dialed my #Min to see, and I was nowhere near an overage as the txt claimed. It's most likely phishing. these $&@#s are getting clever, I will give 'em that...
- Caller: unknown
- LisaThis number is Verizon's loyalty department. They called me about my account and were able to verify all my info.
- chill outI posted this elsewhere.. this is not a scam. I set up text reminders to remind me when I am getting close to going over on minutes or text. yes I SET THIS UP online on my account and I get a text from them when I get close. check it, you can do it yourself. this reminder is a lot less costly than going over on minutes and text's. I went online and checked, and sure enough, I am low on minutes. I also got a call, but missed it so not sure what it would have said.
- chill outFYI, you yourself can log on to your online Verizon account and block up to 5 numbers yourself without their help. so, you do not even need them to do this for you. My Verizon>My Services>Verizon Safeguards>Spam Controls
- Verizon customerIt's a legit number. I just spoke to a Verizon rep and she told me I can use the 888.453.1922 or call the 888.453.1960. Dont be alarm and if you dont believe me then call Verizon directly at 800.922.0204. Have a great 2010!!!
- RichardThis is a scam. Do not give this number anything. They did update their message slightly so now it reads, "Free VZW msg. You are on track to incur overage charges for Minutes, Data or messages. Acct Owner: call 888-453-1922 or dial #MIN & #DATA to check usage".
- Caller: Verizon Wireless
- C.Isn't a scam. I thought it might be myself, but per Verizon's own EMAIL response to me:
"When I call the phone number, 888-453-1922 it a number associated with Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless offers a call-blocking feature that is included with your calling plan called Call and Message Blocking. This feature allows customers to block up to five ten-digit numbers (per wireless number on the account) from calling or messaging them. Call and Message Blocking does not block calls from unknown or restricted numbers or messages sent from an e-mail address. The block will remain active for 90 days. Once it expires you will need to request to have the block reinstated."
If you don't believe it ISN'T a scam, just block the number per above. - Clay Thomasson replies to Better ResolvedI have had two experiences with the Loyalty Department and have found it wonderfully beneficial. They could not have been nicer and they resolved a couple of pretty serious issues that I had been told was just tough luck at the local store. The Loyalty Department took over and it was resolved in minutes.
