A man with a scary voice talking like a street, thug asked me what I was wearing.  So I  told him my night gown.  I then asked him who he was and what does he want.  I then heard heavy breathing from the other end of the phone along with some strange noises.  He said his name was Lee and he wants to verify my social security number for a better home mortgage or debt consolidation loan rate.  

I hung up the phone and he called right back.  He said he we continue calling back if I don't give him my S.S.N. to complete the paper work he has on my P.O.C. (potential credit offer).  So I gave my S.S.N. to him and he never called back!

They are people of there word!!

Got a text message with a number also in parenthesis in the text 9179786488 (the number refers back to someplace in India) asking me to call this number with some odd bank information. Needless to say, if my bank needs to reach me, they know where they can call me. :)

My phone indicated unverified sender, so there is obviously blocking to prevent who's actually sending the text.

Google the phone number and do a reverse phone number lookup:
Oops! 888-514-3547 is not a valid phone number....

Really? Not everyone is out to get you? Try again, when there are various different ways this number has been reported from spoofed texts to phone calls showing the number for magazines to requesting personal information. People aren't as dumb as you make them sound.

Calls my office number daily. Voicemail answers. No message left. Since my voicemail always answers my business number they will never get through... ha ha ha, scumbags.

This number has been calling me for weeks now.  I pick up -- no answer

All of the above for years.  Installed a new phone with message (somewhat rude but no bad language) and recorder, no one leaves a message.  Family uses text as I'm hard of hearing (age 71) so rarely get a ligit call. Getting less and less spam now.  
One other thing===  NEVER EVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL DATA ESPECIALLY YOUR SSAN!!!
Unless of course you want someone to take out a loan for you to payoff ;).  
I rarely answer such callers as my temper is a bit short and the language I learned as a GI might embarrass me.  
Spam or other unwanted calls can also show up as phone text or email occasionally,  Just know the numbers of those who you want to talk to.  The rest I delete.

All telemarketers that get complaints lodged against them for not complying with the laws, should have their phone service disconnect by the service provider! That would put an end to this crap!!!

Company that does calls for different comanies.  Now calling me to renew subscription to trade magizine.  Oh, btw, JoAnn Winslow up there, sorry bout that. I used to work there and was trying to get fired since all the calls are monitored.  Was trying to get fired due to me being a midget and being told too many times about my "short" temper.  But, I must admit, you did sound mighty fine talking about mortgage rates in your night gown.

A woman asked my name and hang up.

Got a call from 888-514-2664--  let it go to answering machine. no msg. no names.. i called the number back and no one answers.. i get multiple calls

Cold but left no message numerous times

This is a "service" that "trade magazines" utilize to get "subscriptions". In our case, they said, "We're calling on behalf of HVAC Magazine. We just need to update your business name and address to get that sent out. Would that be okay?"

If you say, "Yes", you're saying "Yes, it's okay to send the magazine," and they later bill you for it.

Received a call from (888) 514-2665 at 12:36 Central Time on 19 February 2013.  I did not answer the call. No voice mail message was left.

his number call several times a day. i have turn off my ringer and my answer machine and my fax machine. hoping they will give up. started feb 8th to this day feb 27th

They call every day, twice a day. Either hang up when you answer or if not answered, never leave a message. Getting annoying. Someone is apparently very bored. If you call back no answer... ever. Don't bother trying to find them.

They called and asked for a false name I use for crap forms. Told them wrong number. She apologized and hung up.

Phoned me at work.  I let it ring and go to Voice mail.  Thanks to this BB, I knew not to answer!
