- Cj replies to rinFile an FTC complaint against them...they are required by law (Fair Credit Reporting Act) to give you this information
- Cj replies to ShannonI got that call today and asked him who it was..called the number back. File a FTC complaint against them. the more complaints they receive about this company, the sooner they will b out of business! Its illegal
- Cj replies to mad lady| 1 replyFile a complaint with the FTC. It is illegal what they are doing. They just called me today and told me that they were suing me. When i asked for an address to send a verification of account letter, Gina told me that she does not have to do that. WRONG! Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, any debt collector is mandated to send the information if the consumer requests it. Gina wouldn't even give me their address. File a complaint- get this joker operation closed down.
- No-A-Lil-About-this replies to MRP72| 2 repliesfirst and foremost they are also using 1-888-997-1173. They contacted me too, my mom, my niece looking for someone else so they are using nearbys to try and get whatever information they can. If you speak to someone they HAVE to mini mirandize you if they don't - violation number 1. It should go something like this: this is an attempt to collect a debt, any information obtained for that reason......
If you do not owe the debt, send a cease and desist letter and for goodness sake SEND IT FEDEX OR CERTIFIED MAIL so you have record of it!!! This may not stop them and if they continue, you file a complaint with the OAG office. Obviously you will have to have their address first. I would also file a complaint with www.acainternational.com. Even though I looked and they aren't members, the ACA is fed up with these mock agencies who give the good agencies a bad name. Keep a log of everytime they call, every message. The more leverage you have the better case you will have and then... you find an attorney who sues for FDCPA violations and harassment. There are plenty of them out there and they love the business!! I can provide names if you wish, but you don't have to look hard. When suing you sue for attorney fees as well...don't let them get away with having you pay a cent!
Sincerely,
Ex Collection Agency Staff Member

www.acainternational.com - Clarification replies to CjActually the law as stated does not require a collection agency to send a validation notices. Most agencies do this as a courtesy. However, if you ask for a itemized statement they do have to provide that to you so that you can validate the debt. Some may tell you to go back to the original creditor though because they are not provided with the backup documentation - which is a red flag. Any GOOD agency would go out of their way to help you resolve the debt.
- FDCPA replies to mad ladyThe FDCPA prohibits and it is a direct violation of the FDCPA if a collector threatens litigation when they don't actually intend to do it.
- Matt Sullivan replies to No-A-Lil-About-this| 1 replyThey also use 855-822-0146, and a host of other names and numbers. They have been shut down in some states, and just move on to another. Currently they are operating out of an alleged law office in Georgia, and complaints have been filed with the GBI, as well as with the FBI (potential wire fraud) and the FTC (violation of the TPA and FDCPA). Almost all of what they do is in direct violation of the FDCPA, esspecially calling and leaving details about alleged debt with your relatives, friends, etc. and threatening arrest and/or lawsuit, neither of which they can actually do.
Until they are arrested this bad behavior will continue.Recent arrests have begun to have an effect on other scammers, like the infamous Patel companies in CA, but we all have to keep filing at least online complaints to keep the pressure on the new Consumer Watchdog agency and the FTC to put a stop to this nonsense - John replies to Rin CruzURG office is United Receivable Group

Call Type: Debt Collector - lynnetteThese people have called my work threating me with a court order for fraudulent check charges when I have not written a check to this company. The person calling me claims to be Inspector Atwood but when I return the calls no one there knows who I am talking about & then they ask for my social security # & when I refuse to give out that information they end the call. These people are a real piece of work & I feel our State Senators really need to do something about this. Our economy is in such a sad state of affairs right now. Senior citizens are being scammed out of there misally retirements it happened to my own mother who receives only $520 a month. That doesn't even cover the cost of groceries. So what are we the American society going to do about this issue. The people that keep calling are Jamaicans, very broken English. We need to ship them back to their underprivileged countries they are not our problems but they are causing more & more problems for us the American people.
