world financial network - bill collectors - victoria secret

I just got a call from this number, then a phone call earlier today from 303-255-35104.  When I called back, the guy on the other line kept asking for my social security number.  What kind of scheme is this?

I finally got tired of ignoring these, and answered one.  They identified themselves as "something something something National Bank", and when I said we're on the DNC list, they claimed to have a previous business relationship with my wife.  When I said I knew that was not true, they hung up.

Update to an earlier comment: This an example of a new kind of scam.  These people masquerade as several different companies, claiming to have a previous business relationship with you (and thus think they can work around the DNC).  When they called me, they claimed to be World Financial Network National Bank; other people have reported that they claim to be Victoria's Secret.  I didn't listen long enough to find out exactly what scam they're trying to pull.  If you get one of these calls, your best bet is to find out what company they're claiming to be, and call that company to report it.

OK I called this number back. the options are all automated, but it's a bank that handles department store cards like Victoria Sercret and two other department store. it's called World financial national bank. My wife realized that she forgot to pay her Victoria card so thats why they were calling.

NCO Financial uses WFNNB to harass NCO debtors. If you are an NCO debtor and you answer the phone, no one will respond. Call will automatically terminate.

I have asked them several times to quit calling my kid's cell phone.  I nor them have an account with Victoria's secret, evidentally the previous owner of this number did.  I told them if the number is not removed, and they dont stop calling, I am reporting them to the FTC for harrassment.  BTW, here are all the #'s that have been calling:

This number calls and never leaves a voice mail message and there is no one on the other end when you answer the phone. I am on a no call list for any teller marketing and want this to stop

I have received 6 calls in the last 24 hours from Denver (303), Columbus (614), and Kansas City (913), all different numbers. No voice mails.

913-563-5523 at 8:20 on SATURDAY morning!! WTF. I have paid my Victoria's Secret card in full. I owe nothing - I am NOT LATE and they still keep calling ~ IDIOTS!!!!

By the way - I do not answer phone numbers that I don't recognize - And they NEVER leave a MESSAGE. They call back over and over from most of the numbers mentioned. I will be closing my account with Victoria's Secret if this does not STOP! My bill is paid in full OVER A MONTH ago! Don't they get UPDATES? Don't they communicate with the company's billing department? Or do they get paid by the number of calls??

I believe this is from the bank that has Victoria's Secret and other credit card accounts.  I have been receiving calls, but the only reason i know who it is now, is because i checked the number on the internet.  They don't leave messages and I don't answer calls that I don't recognize.

I think this number and other numbers link to the so called World Bank because there are many should be given over to homeland security - I am Starting to think this is a terrorist base scam trying to get social security numbers to get monies for their operations. Every time I call the number(s) no matter what number I push 1,2,3, or 4 it ask for my nine digit social security number or 4 digit which they say is linked to my phone. I think they keep on calling until people get mad to call them back just to get their social security number. I have no debt - this is why I think this.

They woke me and my family at 8am on a saturday morning.  They wanted to speak to my wife and would not say why.  I asked for their name and the call went dead.

They call me. Like every morning at 815 and its so weird they never let me answer the phone cuz they hang up first and I don't have VS account its annoying I wonder how we can get it to stop!

Calls all the time, annoying have gotten this call twice today and its only 10:30am !!!

they call 2-3 times a day. they have called for about 5-7 days already. the caller id says WFNNB and they call from several other numbers, including a 614 number (columbus)
