To Future Reader and Posters:
Be careful about calls from this number - it seems that in some cases scammers are spoofing the number and name SECU in your caller ID.

The safe way to handle these calls is to be very careful what info you confirm or offer and then call SECU on a number you KNOW is correct and you dial for yourself.

Received a call from the 919 #, said he was from SECU fraud unit and a charge of $100.00. And did I make this charge, if so they were going to close my Debit card.  Can you tell me if this was a scam or legitimate call

Good advice.

Person called saying she was from state employees credit union and asking if I authorized a $16 charge from Amazon. Told me to that a new card would be mailed to me and that if I wanted to use my card, I needed to go to an ATM and call the bank.

As soon as the man on the line completely BUTCHERED my last name (which isn't hard to read/pronounce correctly whatsoever) I hung up.  When searching the number after that I found numerous articles, one of which explained what the call was.  Everyone should read it, don't get scammed!  https://abc11.com/secu-phone-scam-state-emplo ... hooter/5744486/
