My parents got a call to renew debit card on 23 Feb 2017 at 2p.m. The SBI debit card was about to expire in Feb 2017. They were asked to send sms on this no. 9223966666. Call came from 9431928077. Soon the fraud caller engaged them in his talks and took OTP and also made them delete existing messages from SBI on the registered mobile no. stating  new sms needs to be sent after deleting previous SMS. Later on my parents realized that online fraud has happened and from 2 available SMS with OTP from SBI reads online purchase at mPesa. mPesa is online wallet from Vodafone. I request every one to be careful as they thugged Rs10000/- from my parents. I was not in the city. They seem to have a data base of SBI debit cards, their expiry date and card owner name and registered mobile no.

9223966666 this no..msg me as my debit card id deactivated....can I know who is that

I received message on 09/12/2017 ( 9th Dec, 2017 ) at 10.43 am. It's as follows :
"Your SBI Debit Card ending with .........XXXX is deactivated only for Internet txn. To activate send SMS 'SWON ECOM XXX' to 0922396666. No change for ATM/POS usage". Interestingly the XXXX was matching with last 4 digit of my card.
The message was received from BW-ATMSBI  after i tried a purchase on www.fruugo.com which appeared to be very similar to BX-ATMSBI from which we generally receive message for our internet transaction. Since it appeared fishy to me I searched for this number 0922396666 and landed on this page. After reading previous discussions on this page to check whether my card was really blocked I made another online purchase on famous e-commerce site and found that my card was not blocked. So all people please be careful about such type of messages. By asking for such messages the fraudsters want your registered mobile number. Better to never send such messages.

Had the same experience what everyone else had and wrote on this page. But nothing lost except my debit card because I called SBI toll free number and blocked my debit card for safety. There was nothing in my account so I was not worried to give them all the details of my card. They tried to do a transaction but ended up by failure. Some of my findings are they are from Delhi, not 1 or 2 they are many because I could talk to 3 girls and could listen to more voices on background. Not much educated, talks with very bad English accent. Used a trick to get OTP from me when I refused. Means very clever.
