I just missed a call from this number, I also frequently get calls telling me to my warranty is about to expire on a vehicle that I don't own.  I'm with Verizon, how do they get our cell numbers?

got a call from this number - didn't recognize it (973-779-3178). looked it up and found it was from NJ. Don't recognize it and am suspicious

i got a call from this number at 10:39am on 4/1/09. I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number & they didn't leave a voicemail...I have a verizon number also

Called my cell at about 1:00 PM today - no message.
These people should be prosecuted.

Got this "warrantee" call several times.  Pressed 2 4 times, last time (1 hour ago) told them off when they wouldn't give inf or supervisor......Reported to FBI Tips, Please flood FBI tips - maybe we can get OUR servents to SERVE us!!!

i am so sick of getting phone calls regarding my car warranty. i just got my car 3.5 months ago with 7 yr warranty. i wish there was a way to block this number.

...Huh? Vehicle?  WHICH one?
...UH, OH! FISHY?  CODE YELLOW.
  --Caller was HINTING--the "HOOK & BAIT" of being
              deliberately VAGUE about a fake,
              personal/financial "DILEMMA."  
...NOW my "VICTIM" EMOTIONS --anxiety & curiosity--could betray me, and  
  tempt me to "open wide," for the dreadful bait, but NO!

  --"SECOND & LAST" means START SWALLOWING FAST.  
...The scammer wants to nab me QUICKLY, while EMOTIONS have me momentarily
  stunned.  
  Scammer allows me NO TIME to THINK--NO TIME to use LOGIC or COMMON SENSE.
  (So EVIL!)

...I am instructed to "DIAL 1" ("one"),
--"to speak to a representative."  
...Yeah, okay. Beep.
  EVIL woman/operator answers. My COMMON SENSE is on guard.    
  I dare not touch the hook, since the "bait" worm is plastic    
  -a FAKE-and it might even be poisonous.

  --EVIL woman identified as calling for Warranty Security, and that the  
  warranty(?) on my VEHICLE is about to "expire,"
  --but FIRST SHE had a few QUESTIONS.
...WHY does SHE FIRST want something FROM ME?  Code yellow.  
  Is she friend or foe? I tug on her fishing line.
...I ask HER a question, FIRST.  
..."You're representing what?"

...I ask, "For which vehicle?"
  --EVIL woman asks ME, "Which vehicle did you purchase between 1999 and    
  2006?"
...This EVIL woman is a STRANGER -- Don't we warn our own kids about
   strangers? Come on, grown-ups! Remember to warn yourselves!
   EVIL woman already has taken time from my day.  She gets NOTHING
   else--NO info NOR money--from ME!

..."Which vehicle?", I ask again.
  --EVIL woman-blah, blah,the vehicle that needs the warranty renewed,
    blah, blah, you NEED to take care of your warranty, blah, blah.
...AHA!  NOW she is getting PUSHY.  How rude! The hook and bait are
  untouched, so she thinks she can net me!  Code Orange!
 
...I have survival savvy.  "Do you have a number, so I can contact you,  
  about this?", I ask.
  ---EVIL woman, "Uh, uh, not TODAY."

...CODE RED! DOWN, PERISCOPE! MAN YOUR STATIONS! BATTLE STATIONS!
  DIVE, DIVE, DIVE! (Siren--aaooOO-gah, aaooOO-gah, aaooOO-gah!)

...NO phone number?  
...Not "TODAY", huh?
...SEEK AND DESTROY!  TORPEDO ONE! TORPEDO TWO! Captain, we have hit the  
  target!

Got this call in class. Didn't answer it. I have answered a call before that claimed, "this is the second and final warning that your vehicle warranty is expiring". Something is very suspiscious and someone should do something. The funny thing is that I have never bought or owned a car.

i have recieved two phone calls from this number the past two days. i haven't answered but i have googled the number like a number of other people and found it is a woman from NJ. does anyone know what it is about?

I got a call today too. When I call back it says the number is disconnected, but the number belongs to a woman in NJ?

I apologize for accidentally re-submitting my telemarketer tale!.  

HERE IS A GOOD OPTION !!!!!

About five years ago, I began to get a number of anonymous phone calls.  I dialed my telephone company's customer service number, and rather quickly I got the advice:

1.  Start keeping a log.  On a calendar, write the time of each call, always checking the phone #.  Do this for one to two weeks, if possible.

2.  Then call your own phone company, and get correct info about
   handling harassing phone calls.
   Take notes of suggestions, and write on calendar--time, date, name  
   of operator, etc.

3.  At the next telemarketer call, speak CALMLY and follow your phone  
   company's instructions.  NO TEMPER, SHOUTING, etc.
   You are talking to an experienced con artist.  The job is to
   manipulate YOU--that is easy, when you are upset.  
 
 [Even Clint Eastwood use calmness as a power.  The evildoer begins to
 lose a little focus, because it is harder to get you under his control.]

Telemarketers use computers.  I am told that after a certain number of rings, the computer "hangs up," if it detects that the response is only from an answering machine.  If there is a human response, then the telemarketer can decide whether or not to start speaking.

NOTICE HOW MANY TIMES PHONE RINGS BEFORE STOPPING.  IF YOU HAVE AN ANSWERING MACHINE, DOES IT RING JUST THREE TIMES?
You may be able to turn the "ringer" sound off, on your phone.

FIND A SERVICE THAT WILL REMOVE YOU FROM LISTS.  I WISH I COULD.  I GOT THESE CALLS, AND MY PHONE IS UNLISTED!  
Did you know that "some" telephone companies give/sell their phone and address lists to the DIRECTORY "WHITE AND YELLOW PAGES" COMPANIES?
AND THEN, the DIRECTORY companies SELL that info to other businesses.
SUPPOSEDLY, the telephone company omits unlisted phone numbers when releasing the info, but you really need to call and sign something with the DIRECTORY PUBLISHERS, to keep your number private (as I have found out).  In my area, there are THREE independent DIRECTORY PUBLISHERS,and my number is in every one of them!  Contact them now, before the next printing.
