The actions that are complained of seem like violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
The problem with these people is that they have no address with which to serve them.
This may also violate your state's payday lending laws (not that I condone payday lending, but if you must, then it is better when they comply with your state's laws) and if Bankruptcy laws apply, it may violate your Bankruptcy.
You should contact a lawyer who handles matters under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Many fine lawyers can be found at www.naca.net, the website for the National Association of Consumer Attorneys.
You may also want to contact a competent Bankruptcy lawyer- the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys is at www.nacba.com.

If you have an address for these people, please post a followup message.

    blahblahblah
Had a voice mail just like many of the others listed here..."Special Investigator" someone (a lady), who was calling to tell me about an order to show cause and a restraining order that they'd filed against me.  Was told to forward the info to my atty and ended the call with "Good luck."  After researching my county courthouse website, not only has NOTHING been filed with them, against me, but I couldn't even find where they'd ever filed anything in my county against ANYONE.  Found cases from the other big collection agencies (NCO, etc) against other people, but not one thing from Allied Legal Services, or Allied Interstate (I'm not sure they are connected, but I ran a check on Allied Interstate just incase, since I found a lot of horrible info regarding their debt collection methods online too).

My advice is to check w/your local courthouse (either online, or just call them - I did both just to be safe and they were very understanding and helpful over the phone) before believing one thing from them.

Ask Allied for proof of the debt owed, ask them what court system the so-called orders were filed with, and ask them the exact orders that were filed.  It's funny, but when I did they lost their attitude, suddenly their computer got slow, they couldn't find my account info, I got put on hold, hung up on (called back though), and finally got told they'd have to get back to me.  Like all bullies, they retreat at the slightest push back.

Some extremely stupid black man called me from this company.  He was the dumbest person I have ever spoken to.

    They are lying.

    They won't sue you.

They did not sue me and I refuse to pay this debt.

My friends and family are receiving a call from this number stating that I am being named in a restraining order, then another time I was being named in a case for fraud.  As it turns out, seems it is a bill collector for a check cashing/payday loan place.  All they are doing is using lies and deception and strong arm scare tactics to get me to call them.  Good luck with that, idiots.  A restraining order?  Really?  Trust me, I won't be back as a customer, the R.O. is not necessary.

Like many of you have said, they left a message saying I must appear in court, I must have my attorney contact them within 48 hours and that there was a restraining order pending.

I waited 5 days to see if they would send the notice of rights letter, they did not, so I called them to request said letter, proof of debt and a correspondence address and fax number.  The reponse was "tell it to the judge lady". They claimed that this issue was past the point of collection and that they had already attempted to serve a subpeona at my home but were unsuccessful. That's funny because I've been home on disability and haven't left my home in a week. They said they would attempt to serve me again at my work. This is total bull. Whatever. Guess I'll just wait and see.

Got a call from (980)939-0921 with a message from supposedly "Special Agent" Derrick Cooper who left an affidavit reference number stating that there is a Show Cause Restraining Order against someone and that that person should forward this info to their Attorney within 24-48 hours, but did not leave the agency whom he is employed by. I've been employed in the legal sector for over 25 years and it is very unethical for someone to just leave a legal message on a phone without knowing whom may retrieve it.  Also, any legal notifications are done via certified mail....These people are the real crooks and scam artist......

    Amazed!!!!!!
I have received a lot of collection phone calls from people looking for other people, but I was truely amazed at the tactics this company used to reach people.  Even after they are told this certain person doesn't live there, they continue to beat you down like a common criminal.  I am turning this over to our investigative news team and also the BBB.  I don't know what else I can do.  But upon finding this site, I am a little more enlightened as to their practices. John Dexter(the name given me) is the rudest of them all!  I am guessing this is not his real name, but everyone should be aware of them and their practices. We only asked that they not call our number again and explained that our state has a Do Not Call Registry. He became more beligerant as we spoke.  I am sorry they are looking for someone that has nothing to do with us. We can't help what others have done, but when you tell someone that they do not live there nor is the number that they are calling not this persons number, that should be the end of the conversation. But it's not.  He continued to belittle women and made extremely rude comments to us after we identified ourselves as NOT being the one he was searching for. They're practices are riduclious and need to be stopped. I am the caregiver to the 82 yr. old lady they called and did this to. She was extremely upset at their rudeness and the hour at which they called. Some how, some way, these people need to be stopped from calling the wrong residence. I am just amazed at the tactics some people will use to collect a debt, but if they have the wrong person, that should be the end of the conversation.  I do hope someone will help people like her, and outlaw these traumatic phone conversations.

I just got a call from this number as well, claiming something about a restraining order, not saying in reference to what, and saying I have to appear for whatever it is and said to call 980-939-0821. I called, was on hold for 30+ minutes, Googled Allied Legal Services while I was waiting, and decided to hang up after reading things that seem to indicate it's a scam. I have taken out pay day loans in the past, but I'm not aware of ANY outstanding debt to any of them, and certainly there is no one who would  want a 'restraining order' against me.

    Very suspicious.

    These people are lying.

They don't have a clue about what a restraining order or a subpoena even is.

When someone sues you over a debt it is called a complaint and summons.  Not a restraining order.  Not a subpoena.

They are just trying to scare you into paying.

If everyone would just hang up on them when they called, they wouldn't get any money from you and they would go out of business.  Sadly, people will talk to them and then get scared and pay them and that keeps them in business.

Called mine & my wife's cell phones. Didn't recognize # so we let them leave this same b.s. message about restraing order, attornies, etc. I couldn't understand half of what she said ("Carla Sanchez" is what I think she said her name was). I could hear noise in the background that sounded like a roomful of telemarketers all reading the same script. Searched the # online and ended up here. They did not have our correct name, and we've never taken out any kind of payday loan. We are not behind on any debt and do not owe any bill collector. Just going to ignore it.

Got a message on my home voice mail from Darren Cooper, said I had to appear in court.  This is random and pisses me off, if it's a scam, I'm going to figure out more and see what I can do to stop it.

Got calls from them last Wednesday and then again today, left voicemails. 980-939-0921, Allied Legal Services. I called them back and they answer the phone as "Allied Legal Services, Litigations Department."

They say they are handling a lawsuit for Cash Call Incorporated (Fast Cash Advance), that I took a payday loan for $350, and on 6-12-2008 it went delinquent because I blocked them from debiting my account (I probably did - had a lot of payday loans back then), and they are suing for $718.11. They say they haven't filed yet and I can either go to court and dispute it, or settle, up until they serve me with papers.

Is this legit or is it BS? I'm in Texas btw.

They just called me again - now I am on the phone with "Shawn Jones" asking if I had received a "subpoena" at my home address. WTF, last time I checked being sued by a creditor doesn't involve being subpoenad. LOL. He also say they are "alleging fraud" and "intent to defraud a financial institution."

Oh, and also over the last 4 days the amount has gone up to $729 from $718 (on 2/24)

He said, "Let me get the client on the line. We are simply a legal office, we don't take money here so let me get the client on the line and see if we can reach some type of settlement."
