- Ian GGot this call this morning, it stopped very quickly when I answered "North Yorkshire Police, How can I help?"
- Caller: No idea, but sounded Asian
- AJGot a call at 10:43 am from Asian or Indian accented male who call me by my first name. I thought it was a foreign call and since I have family abroad I answered. When he asked me "Is this -my name-? I said Yes and then he said "hello" and hung up. How did they know my first name?
- LKI have been receiving phone calls every half hour today asking for my mother. I stated she works full time and wont be able to take the call but since then they have called every half hour without fail. Always an Asian man making the call. The last phone call just had an automated 'goodbye' message. When I dialed 1471 number was '000000000'. So annoying! Im only at my mums house because I've broken my ankle! Nuisances.
- s jewkesi have recieve a few calls from this number on answering there is no one there
- lostinmindThis person calls me every so often when they do it is 8 times a day. I have told them several time to take me of the call list and yet they have not. Just tonight i told them to take me off an hour later they called again. I am at my home i don't want this telemarketer calling me on my cell phone and on my wife's cell phone. both phones receive these calls 8 or so times a day. they keep trying to give me a wall-mart gift card.
- reportingI received a call from this number today. An Indian accent male said his name was Jack Smith from Phoenix, AZ. He wanted to congratulate me for shopping at Walmart and going to send me 100 gift card from walmart and 100 gift card for gas. He asked me if I had a credit card. He needed to charge $2.90, but the purpose of his call was to verify that I had a card. He asked me for the 16 digit number and the expiration date. I said, "No, I don't feel comfortable. You can give the card to someone else." He said, "I can understand you feel skeptical. I can assure you this is safe." He explained he was just asking for the 16 digit number and expiration. He would not require my CVC number. I hung up. I got this call 2 more times through the day, but I refused to pick up my phone.
This doesn't make any sense. First of all, why would they be calling from an odd number? Second of all, you have a strong accent indian accent. I could barely understand what you were saying. I would never believe your name is Jack Smith. That's like telling me your name is John Doe. Why would he need to know if I had 0 balance. I'm not sure about how credit card fraud works. He knew me address. He new my full name. Do you think he already had my CVC that was why he was asking for the account number and expiration date?- Caller: 0000000000

- Conrad replies to FredTo all the poor souls out there who receive the 0000000000 number. logon to your wireless web sight and have the number blocked. Verizon has this option and I would imagine the other services does too. Verizon will block 5 numbers for 90 days free, or you can pay $4.99 a month and block up to 20 numbers for a unlimited amount of time. Just sayin!!
- Jose' replies to jpd1977ukThere's an app called "Mr Number" I use to block these guys daily.
- jollykeep getting a phone call fom this number but no one is on the othe line werd.
- A L AHey all--It's EASY to get rid of them calling your number. When a person actually is on the other end--Tell them: "Yes! That IS the Correct code name--Now--Nidal Hasan's lawyer is needing the Money to secure his Safe Passage! Call (the local Sheriff's Dept. Non-Emergency number) They are Anxiously awaiting You upholding Your End of this deal! Give the GreenCC info to Beacon Financial in Salt Lake City Utah; phone number is 877-746-4993 X136! HURRY NOW! I TOLD Mahmoud that your level was too low to utilize!!!"
(Most of the time they've quietly hung up at this point in the STORY!) They have told me: "You CRAZY--I not call no more"--& They DON'T!
Darn--Just when I was having FUN! (And, believe me--my local Sheriff's Department is so pathetic concerning their "official" law enforcement duties; this actually gives them something to fill their time!)- Caller: Unknown
- dhSecond time I had been called by them. Originally said they were from Microsoft and they had been sending me messages on my computer. Wanted to know if I had been receiving them. If not, then there is something wrong with my computer and I need to give them access so they can fix it. They wanted $479 originally, gave me a senior discount and offered $179. Told them I would call them back I would have to borrow the money (stalling). They did give me a name and phone number. Said they were in Clearwater, FL, His name was Ryan Smith.. He has a strong East Indian accent. I called Microsoft, they said it wasn't from them and don't give them any info. Called the FBI and they said change my password and ignore them. It is a known scam and they prey on seniors or people who are not tech savy.
