- ezzThank you for choosing to use the service. Remember, it is a legal requirement for telemarketers not to call a TPS subscribed number after 28 days, unless they have your consent to do so, but you should start noticing a gradual decline from registration.
If after 28 days you are still receiving unwanted sales and marketing telephone calls to the telephone number registered, you may wish to make an official complaint. Please complete our 'Complaint' form which can be found on this site in the complaints section.
Alternatively you can contact the Information Commissioners Office - the body for the enforcement of the relevant legislation.

- jrs07Feels like we under siege in recent days. Today female caller who claims to be from Nerdi (I asked for spelling) Technical department, saying that my computer has been identified as having more than 1000 errors and has stopped functioning. Asked if I was in front of my computer. I said No. She then requested me to switch it on and she would help me correct the errors! Dangerous stuff, obviously an attempt to take over inviduals' pc's. How did she know I had a computer anyway. I asked for her telephone number, it was given very quickly, but I think it was 203 286 0502? Also their address is supposed to be 14 Hanover Street, London; she refused to give postcode and then hung up. On dialling 1471 was given above 000000000.
This call follows numerous calls from 0123456789, at all times of day and evening. Clearly similar scam. But looks highly dangerous. Someone, somewhere is going to fall for it and probably lose their p.c. to invader. Is there any way to stop these hackers? My concern is that this series of dodgy calls follows my recent upgrade of broadband, and I have been checking quite often to gauge improvement using TalkTalk broadband speed check. Any link, any advice?- Caller: Nerdi Technical

- bilfish29| 3 repliesThis number (000000000) is ringing my phone several times a day. Sometimes there are fewer digits and at other times one or two more. If I pick up the phone there is just silence. How can I stop receiving these calls? Who is sending them? It's very irritating!

bogus computer calls ie its running slow - gekkospanstarted receiving calls every hour from 0000000000. I only hear 3 beeps when I answer.
- Johncalls and no answer
- John replies to bilfish29The only way to stop them is to change your number. They are using a masking program and do not pass caller ID info on the carriers. They only way to trace is to report a threat to your phone provider and then then could do a trace. But good luck with that.

- martinGovernment is too busy bailing out EU countries, MPs are too busy claiming false expenses, TPS & Oftel and ICO is too busy just RECORDING complaints (I have yet to see what they have ACHIEVED prosecution wise) These forums are full of ordinary people complaining about unwanted intrusive calls mostly from Indian sounding callers, yet none of the above organisation appear to have any sharp teeth to act.

- JohnIt is a call from Sport Lisboa e Benfica. It is to sell you membership cards!!
- TCH| 1 replyJust got a call from this number on the switchboard at work. I decided to pick up the call, but put my phone on mute, just to see what happens. Got a recorded message saying they had an important message for me, please hold. This repeated several times, then a woman snatched up the call, and was "Hello, Hello" then she pushed a button on the phone. When I didn't respond, she hung up.
The way I look at it, if you can't call me from a legitimate number, I'm not going to talk to you. Caller ID showed 000000000 as the incoming number. - ant replies to TCHGot a call today from 000000000, when i picked up, there was silence for about 5 seconds, then an automated goodbye. no idea who it is????

Simply faking a phone number is not illegal in the US or the UK.
A spokesman for the Ofcom, the UK's telecom watchdog, said it had received only one call about Caller-ID spoofing from someone concerned about what would happen if it took off in the UK.
Widely-accepted industry guidelines dictate that people are honest in their use of CLID, he said
But, the spokesman said, Ofcom was a complaint led organisation and would move to investigate if it got a lot of enquiries from consumers about people or organisations systematically abusing the system.
"We are aware of it and are monitoring the issue," he said
CAN ANYONE BELEIVE THERE HAS BEEN ONLY 1 COMPLAINT TO OFCOM ?
So folks we have to flood the OFCOM before they will act And that too probably will be in the year 2069 !- Caller: unknown
