Have received a call once a day since Monday 21st November 2011. Soon as I see the number I cancel it straight away. This person needs to be stopped sooner rather then later.

Same as everyone else, there is a call from 00123456789 Salem Ohio and then he hangs up - whats the point?! I have had five or six calls today and the same yesterday and the same amount on Monday.

I'm getting calls from this number atleast 6 times a day at the mo. I'm not answering it but it's getting really annoying!!!

I am being harrased about every 5 min from these people. They ve been told i wasn't interested in a research they wanted me to do and I asked them to stop calling me and they just got worse and worse! Now when i pick up the phone they just say nothing and then hang up.
I HAVE NOW REPORTED THEM TO THE POLICE!

Hi again I've just got some answers to this caller. It's done on an auto dialer database thats why no one says anything and all the time you pick the phone up they will keep doing it and it tells them your phone is still active which then is sent to other companys for them to harrass you too!!! The most successful way to stop these calls from happening is to save the number in your contacts and then barr the num or divert it to your voicemail. After a wk of this happening the auto dialer will stop automaticaly as it tells the system your phone is not active anymore. DO NOT LET THE CALL IF YOU DO ANSWER IT TO GO OVER 30SEC OR YOU'LL BE HARRASSED EVEN MORE.
One other thing, if enough of us contact the Telephone Preferance Service via google they investigate.

they keep calling me, they must be fxxking mad, i will not answer them, the way forward will be to put my phone on silent.

Hi, I've started getting these calls too and I'm also an Orange customer. My husband works in telecoms and tells me that Orange (and any other network operator) could stop these calls on their network using the caller ID which would stop them coming through to us. He suggests we all contact Ofcom who will soon tell all of the network operators to get this sorted out. I got in excess of 12 calls yesterday - only answered the first time (about 4 days ago) when i got a silent call. The amount of calls has increased each day.

Wow... I feel lucky to have only just received my first phone call since this number has been going round since may! My phone comes up with +1 (234) 567-89 and my iphone tells me it is from Salem, OH I didn't answer it of course as a phone number from 1-9?! come on?!

I keep getting calls from this number, how do we STOP them?

I have had this number call me about ten times in the past week im being completely ohnest, im a college student and it gets in the way of my studies, the number seemed rather bazaar to be ohnest, so ive just put it on automatic divert however, they just keep on calling and now I have almost 8 diverted calls from that number, is there any way to stop it, im sort of worried :(

The people whom are calling me on this number need to stop, they have no lives.

I had a call from this number yesterday which I ignored, I did research on similar sites to this to find it is not a legit call. When they phoned today I answered, they asked if I had an accident in the last 3 years. I explained I had been in a plane crash, when they asked if I was injuried I explained I couldnt hear her as my ears where damaged in the crash. The woman seemed very confused... It was funny! Dont worry about these calls take them with a pinch of salt and give as much as you get.

I keep getting calls from this number on my mobile. (28 calls on 18th November alone) I have blocked it as it did not seem to bea number who would call me. Thanks for the info from the other posters.

Got a call from someone sounding like he was from the Indian sub-continent but gave himself an English sounding name. Then he told me he had received So many thousand error messages from my computer. "Oh" I said, "what can I do". "Turn your computer on and we will fix it". "OK" . to cut a long story short he was guiding me how to fix my windows system but eventually realised I did not have a windows computer. "Why are you wasting my time" he said. "Well you called me" I said. "Have you nothing better to do?" "Not at the moment" I replied.
Remember, anyone contacting you telling you they have received error messages from your computer is almost certainly scamming you (They cannot link your IP to your phone) unless you have a package you have paid for or you have registered your computer and given your number at the same time.
Be cautious, when they get you to link by explorer your computer is at their mercy.

just had another call from this number first time in a few months the last time they called me it was a indian guy asking me if i had accident and all that crap and then started disrespecting my family. as soon as i saw the number just over half hour ago i instantly answered it and this time they was saying they work for windows this time and that there computer was recieving information that my computer was filling up with lots of harmfull viruses to my computer. i thought this was a bit strange as i am using a dongle on t-mobile so i just listened to hes instructions to see what he had to say just to waste hes time. then all of a sudden he stopped talking and started saying why cant i hear your computer are you taking the [***] piss switch your computer on and do what i told you so i said no to him because there is nothing wrong with my laptop then he messed up by saying dont lie to me you have no laptop you have a run down pc on xp i have the info on your model you are using and your so cheap you cant buy a new computer so i told to him [***] off as i have a acer laptop which runs on windows 7 premium then he cut me off how nice

If you have the laptop you told him you had, beware of calls from a different number which will name your laptop correctly.  These scum operate more than one scam and will pass info around.  Next time tell them you saw the scam on "You've been Scammed" on BBC1 on 21st November and know what they are up to.  You might also tell him that the Director of Security for Microsoft said on the programme that neither Microsoft, nor its partners will ever cold call you as it would be a breach of their privacy rules.
