Got a call yesterday (3 june 2011) at 18.06 (GMT+1) from +213773771xxx i'm in Italy.
This happened when i left my phone number to a girl that i met in an adult oriented forum.

Dear all, you got calls from stolen mobile phones: That is, a friend or business contact of yours was victim of a pickpocket-expert - perhaps during vacations in mediterranean countries. After that, the stolen mobile phone was "exported" to North Africa, especially Algeria. The caller is just testing your phone number,and if your address was saved in the stolen phone, perhaps you get a visit - especially when you are not home!
So, be careful and inform the police.

Got 11 calls from this caller 00213558228629. First it was Unknown then the no. Finally showed up after the 10th call. When i answer i get a hang up then she will call again and i tried just listening, not saying anything.. I heard two girls talking in a different language and pronounces Hello as Halu. Like arabic person. Why are they calling us?????

I got missed calles from numbers 00213552769163, 00213771199962, 00213550452173 and a text message saying 'hallow, haw are you.' I can't identify the numbers from google and find it weird that they have texted me. Definite scam.

Yep, I just received at least two (missed) calls from that same number - two on my mobile about 2 minutes apart, and between them, one on my direct work number (which only my clients have) from a blocked number.

I didn't answer and i recommend nobody does - no doubt it is a number-tester seeing which numbers are current and what they can get out of the owner of the number (if you're silly enough to give them any information if you answer).

I think the theory about the calls coming from people who have acquired mobiles stolen from your friends/contacts is a sound theory.

Ok, on further checking, +213 4084520 appears to be Citibank following up on credit card payments - they are using IP phones spoofing their numbers so they falsely start with +21 .  So, may not be the Algerian goons after all ...

I also received a missed call from +213 772900598. I'm from Abu Dhabi UAE. I called back and a lady who answered and she can't understand english then she dropped the call. Weird!
