- Annoyed replies to MillermanYes, I have just had a phone call from a guy who called himself David. He assured me he was from BT and my computer had a real problem, it had been compromised. I said I had no problem and when he insisted I had and asked him what he was going to do about it, he said fix it and I said how can you fix a problem I hadn't got. I bade him good day and hung up. I am sure he was a scammer.
- AmandaI’ve just had a phone call from this number, a guy called John Rich, told me that unauthorised people using my internet wi5hout me knowing about. I therefore needed to spark up the computer and connect to the internet, if I didn’t do this then I risked the internet being turned of and it would insure a fee of £2500. to reconnect. I said that I thought he was a fraudulent call, I wouldn’t be doing as asked without first confirming his identity, place of work and phone number, all of which he gave me, I said I’d phone back. John Rich is still waiting for his call back 😂

- MarionCalled 6/Jun/2018 - kept on calling after I hung up so eventually talked to Asian/Indian sounding guy who insisted that my BT internet service would fail within 24 hours if I did not do what he said. He was technically savvy and pointed me to look at my Windows Event Viewer and attempted to frighten me into believing this was proof I had been hacked. Got angry when I cut the conversation and phoned back insisting he was only trying to help

- BJI got a call today (11-June-2018) from an Asian sounding woman claiming that she worked for BT and that my BT connection was not secure and wanted me to log into one of my devices to make my connection secure as apparently there were around 14 individuals trying to access my network. I had a feeling this was fake and kept interrupting her by asking her questions such as if this was genuine why had BT not contacted me in writing to advise me that this issue was happening. On several occasions she claimed to could prove that she was actually from BT and all I needed to do was give her access....well I did not. I asked her to give me her number : 00441793596931 so that I could verify it. I checked the number out and learned that it was a scam. Glad I had not given her any details as she was definitely using scare tactics to frighten me. Please be careful and don’t give anyone who calls like this any info as it is a scam!

- APJust received a call from an Asian gentleman called Alex Carter claiming to be from BT and saying I have a problem with my IP/internet connection. Told him I am not with BT as they are useless but he insisted that all other providers use BT and it was up to them to sort out and stop all these other people using my internet I just need to start up my computer and allow their technician access to fix! Told him I was too busy and asked him for a telephone number for me to call back when convenient to me. He eventually gave me a number to call and his name as Alex Carter and job Id as BT1912 but only when I said if he couldn’t give me this information he was clearly a scammer! These people are unbelievable & very convincing with their high pressure patter, needless to say I will not be calling back ...

- AmandaJust had an Asian David White on the phone from BT Tec support to say my internet was corrupt. I told him I didn't have BT anything. He said he knows and it's cause other providers (listed other company's) use the same lines. I then went into 20 questions or his full name, telephone number (he had to Google this lol), his badge/ID number, where he's based, his manager's name (which he couldn't provide or his supervisor) they usually give up and hang up but he didn't. He kept going on with his line of what was wrong to which I said I'm not talking to you if you don't answer my questions. He did his line again of what was wrong to which I laughed and said give it up David, goodbye

- GillianReceived two or three calls from this person. Today I had time to call. Asian sounding guy saying from British Telecom - believe they call themselves BT or Openreach these days. He informed me that they were worried about my internet connection as there had been attempts from various locations to access it. Was a bit surprised as i have no relationship with BT at all - neither for phone cable or internet. He then asked if someone could be using the internet between midnight and 4 am and was quite put out when I said that it was entirely possible as we are both insomniacs.
When challenged he said he could give me an ID security connection number and read the following out - 888DCA60FCOA11FOF0030 - no idea what this means.- Caller: British Telecom
