I've just had a very obnoxious man phone from this number for the second time, refuse to go away and threaten to ring again later. Tomorrow I will go and buy a whistle to keep by the phone.

Since mentioning the Police....I've not heard a thing...save your money ;-)

An asian voice that starts by saying " I don't want to sell you anything......" they then try to confirm your postcode, which is usually correct. If you ask them where they are calling from they hang up.

If you have time, reel them in by pretending to be interested, make them repeat a few things and get to the point of payment, then say you have to get you credit card and take your time, then give them a number, then correct it , then ........ etc

Waste their time. Its the only thing you can do in retrun for wasting theirs.

Talk rubbish to these people , have fun
do n't get upset , treat these calls as light entertainment
try to get them to swear at you .
Ask them what toilets are like in India , ask them if they use a proper toilet like civilised people or if they just squat in the back yard .
Ask them why Indian men are sexually attracted to their aunts .
Etc.

These Tamil (Asian area) sounding guys called me landline 3 times and started getting aggressive and said they will call constantly.

Really spoilt my day. What can be done to stop them?

The answer to this is simple and effective. Tell them to eff off and hang up. I did this, and the idiot called straight back and told me to eff off too then called me a [***]!! He hasn't called back since though ;)

2 calls today.  I don't answer if I don't know the number displayed or if it is withdrawn or "unavailable".  Why trouble your life?  If "they" need you they will leave a voice message if not, sod 'em!  For what it cost to call back...Do the same as me and all these nuisance callers will soon stop trading that way.  And everybody will feel the better for it.

I have received 6 calls from this number which I do not recognise

I have had a number of calls saying they were not selling anything but wanted to ask a few questions. I have told them in no uncertain terms not to call, I got my wife to hang up when she answered only for them to call straight back, again we hung up called back by a different person claiming he was the first callers manager. I asked them to hold and played music dwn the phone, they eventualy hung up.

I am hoping not to get anymore calls, wish me luck.

just answered my phone to them, they ask you a lot of pointless questions but as soon as you say that you dont want to give them your post  code they hang up...just let them try again and see what happens then.

Three calls throughout today each from different Asians men, one came up as private line, one on just 001298 and then this number. Told this last one that I was not going to answer what TV service I use if this was what the call was about and he said I would still get calls because I had not answered and then he hung up.

Just had a call from this number (1471-ed it: 00 61 3985 41201). Asian-sounding man asked for someone who doesn't live here (name unfamiliar to me). Said he wasn't selling anything, was carrying out a survey, then asked how I receive my TV service.

I said I don't have one. He sounded incredulous and called me a liar! He then read out a postcode and asked if it was correct; it wasn't so I said no. He read out an address and asked if that was correct, but again it wasn't so I said no. He then started abusing me, calling me a liar and a 'f***ing stupid old woman'. I told him in no uncertain terms to f*** off but received a load more verbal abuse! He seemed very reluctant to end the call even though it had descended into a slanging match.

This behaviour is totally unacceptable - I should know, I used to work in telemarketing. I will report this to Trading Standards and the TPS, although since it's from an overseas number I doubt much can be done.
