Calling me in Switzrland (phone log shows that they insist in calling, have tride to reach me 5 times)

Caller insist my windows computer has a problem; when I ask exactly what problem he is talking about, the caller repeats the same story about, malware, virus.... this one vn talked about germs......

Caller kept identifying himself as support from Microsoft, clearly a fraud, I would think

When I insisted he should tell me the exact problem he hang up

I've been getting calls from this number almost on a daily basis for the past fortnight After about a week of seeing this number ion my display,  Ifinally answered the phone. I talked to one lady and hung up when she asked me to switch on my computer so she could talk me through the procedure for fixing an alleged virus attack. Two days later told her colleague I didn't want to talk to him. Both spoke with an Indian accent. Two more calls since then

I had a call from these people who told me that they had been receiving messages from my computer telIing them that I had "application errors". When I asked for more specific information about the applications, errors and how they had been getting these messages they confidently continued talking technical non specific nonsense. I couldn't be bothered to play along and hung up.

Got a call, English with Indian accent. My computer is going to crash, they want to help etc. Wanted to know my Windows Key Number and told me go to the Run dialog to look something up. Did not want to tell where this would lead, so I said I don't have time and it doesn't seem to be serious.

Same here, didn't understand much in the first place. He asked me to "speak to the owner of the computer". When I asked him who he was and which computer he was talking about, he hang up.

I received a similar call today (29.10.2011). Very strange....

hatte soeben Besuch (Anruf) von mysteriösem MS Supporter.
Nach längeren Exkursen in meiner Eventanzeige (System) und Hinweisen auf zahlreiche Fehler, Warnungen, etc...will er dass ich eine Support-Applikation starte, die ihm Zugang zu meinem PC geben würde.
Bin ja nicht leichtsinnig und will vorerst seine Identität abklären.
Er nennt mir seinen Namen (schwer verständliches Englisch - mit Indischem Akzent) als David Watson und nennt eine Rückrufnummer 44 122 390 11 63.
Meine Rückfrage bei meinem PC-Spezialisten klärt die Sache auf...DAS IST NIEMALS MICROSOF und der Typ will seine Maleware auf meinem System plazieren und Daten abziehen.

Der Country Code 999 ist für zukünftige globale Anwendungen reserviert, d.h Anrufe mit der Nummer 00999xxxxxxx versuchen die Identität zu verschleiern und sollten entsprechend behandelt werden...

Ich habe gerade vorhin auch einen Anruf von 009999100317 erhalten und war leicht überfordert. Es kam mir schon komisch vor, dass jemand von microsoft uns anruft, das habe ich noch nie gehört. Auf jeden Fall hab ich ihm zig mal gesagt, dass ich kein englisch verstehe und wenn niemand anrufen kann der deutsch spricht mache ich sicher nichts. Er meinte dann, dass ich besser englisch spreche als er, darauf sagte ich, dass ich nur ein paar worte kann und nichts von dem verstehe was er sagt. Als er zum X-ten mal von vorne angefangen hat habe ich gesagt "i stop talking to you now" und hab aufgelegt.

Eine totale schweinerei ist so etwas. Ich versuche meinem telefonanbieter zu sagen, dass solche nummern gesperrt werden sollen. Mein freund spricht fliessend englisch und würde sicher nichts machen was die sagen, aber wir haben noch einen Mitbewohner für den kann ich nicht sprechen.

Anruf von dieser Nummer erhalten. Gleiche Masche wie oben schon erwähnt. Wollte mich mit einem technician verbinden. ich war schon etwas ungehalten, nachdem "er" mir immer wieder die gleichen schwammigen Antworten auf mein Nachfragen gegeben. Als ich gesagt habe, ich hätte kein Windows, hat er sich verabschiedet und aufgelegt.
Bin gespannt, wie oft die noch anrufen.

Lasst Euch nicht reinlegen von solchen Leuten und Methoden!

We got several calls of that kind from this "company". The conversation went same way as "Unteres Kleinbasel" told. (I live in Oberes Kleinbasel !).
A international number starting with 00999 does not exist according to the international Numbering Plan of ITU.
I wrote a letter to the swiss regulator BAKOM complaining about their slogginess in these affairs.

@Silvie: VERY BAD scam, as "logmeinrescue.com" is a site which offers a free remote maintenace tool. Actually a good one for remote maintenance.
I'm sure that they would ask you to download and install the tool and give you then a session key which they can use to take over the desktop of your Windows PC.
What is good for maintenance can be used in a VERY BAD way for overtaking your computer completely.
Seems to me that these Indian IT specialists found a way to earn more than the get for serious work .-(

I had 2 calls here in Switzerland from this number, but fortunately was not at home. No one talking on the mailbox. I hope this stops, I pay everytime someone calls outside my provider.

funny. they called me too. however, i wasn't at home. but i also don't have a windows computer. :-) stupid folks.

Moi aussi j'ai deja recu de ces Telefones. Il faudra essayer, que ca arrete, mais comment. Je vais premierement contacter microsoft suisse, apres la swisscom. Essayons tou, et ca ira.

Moi aussi, j'ai eu un appel de ce numéro (en Suisse) aujourd'hui d'un homme qui s'est présenté comme s'appelant Mac, avons parlé une vingtaine de minutes. Il m'a dit qu'il téléphonait de Houston aux Etats-Unis (à 10h30 ce matin heure suisse!!!). Il avait plutôt un accent indien effectivement. Il m'a dit qu'il téléphonait du "computer technical department de Microsoft" qu'il allait me passer l'ingénieur afin de régler le problème de mon ordinateur. Que celui-ci était gravement infecté, non seulement par des virus mais par des"trolls" impossible à détecter par les anti-virus, etc. Il m'a ensuite demandé de me connecter sur le site "www.support.me". J'ai refusé bien qu'il m'ait assuré maintes fois que je pouvais lui faire entière confiance!!!
Merci à vous tous d'avoir mis ces commentaires, qui me rassurent quant à l'avenir de mon ordinateur (qui selon mon correspondant devait crasher dans les prochaines heures, voir jours si tout va bien :)

depuis 1 semaine,le tél sonne tous les jours à la meme heure avec ce numéro! je ne réponds pas! peut-on faire qqch pour que cela cesse?

had same number called today 21NOV2011. The voice was english, I suggest indian-english or so.claiming to make me belive it is Micorsoftt helpsupport.i was told to switch on my PC and they will assist me finding programerrors reported to microsoft.
SO: Microsoft will never call by fone and i told him to identify himself. Found after awhile, it was a sevice offer by unknown "hackers" from the UK in order to enter my PC and get control of datas and so on. When they try again, I will send them to the moon, even passing by there!
Also be carefull and dont`get hoocked
