It's a scam , I let it go to voicemail, and the message said to call back British Gas Urgently on 0800 107 7064, but it's nothing to do with British Gas. Just another con merchant, trying to scam information out of you. Block this number on your phone.

Doesnt matter about these scams or scums or how many times they call

Best way is never ever buy over the phone even if your desperate for something and if it is too good to be true. The fact is if you ever want anything you will go out and buy. Simples

If we all stop buying over the phone in the UK eventually, scam artists and cold calling companies will be forced to stop. As it stands if you dont buy they dont sell

I want to distribute this message to all the scam companies out there. If i get a cold call and i pick. I simply just press the red button which is hang up

they rang me pretending to be british gas  asking me to make payment for my gas energy bill . this was on

They say they're British Gas but they cant be. Say I owe them money but I dont so I told them and then they ask if I want to pay now. So again I told them I paid my bills and then they wanted me to set up a direct debit. They try to get my bank details.  Its a scam. Lucky I wasn't born yesterday.

Claimed they were British Gas calling from Southport wanting to service boiler etc.
Asked strange questions like,  "Do you have a dog?"
"Is there parking outside your house"  "Which day would be suitable to call?"

When I called them back, the number is not recogised.  Not sure who they were but I smell a scam!

I just received a call from the saying they were British Gas re: my outstanding bill of £??? they had the right amount which is in dispute. very bad line, when I rung the number same thing not available.
Now I am worried as they had the correct amount in dispute. where did they get the info on.

They use a number trier (guesser) first to see if any phone numbers work. If you answer or your message service kicks in then they know it does so it is stored and used to pester you.

Just had this number call me, let the the answerphone kick in and it rang off! I always ignore any caller who doesnt SPEAK! My friends know I do this so they say something to get my attention.

just had a call from this number 01132989000 sounded Asian was slightly dubious but di have correct details saying I owed them money for outstanding payment on gas bill amount owing was correct don't know how they knew tried to get me to pay there and then over phone but I said no so glad I did beware of these people .07/03/2014 @ 18.23.

This number IS British Gas!! They're calling because you lot haven't paid your bill!! Stop making out that every number that calls you is spam when you know full well that someone is chasing you for a debt!! benefits street springs to mind.

Same here said it was British gas and they were calling about an outstanding bill ...... Ive not been a British gas customer for several years it is a scam the guy I spoke to sounded indian and got quite stroppy when I wasn't very cooperative. I'm going to ring British gas and see what they say

No Nicola its NOT British Gas, it is a scam I got a call today for my mums address.... She has been dead 5 years

If you have iPhone, you can block. Do not know if can be done on other smart phones.

British Gas provide a facility on their web site to check whether callers claiming to be from British Gas are telling the truth.   It is at http://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-advice/c ... e-call-you.html          Entering the phone number of this thread results in a clear statement that the number is unknown as one of theirs.

For blocking on Smart phones, a variety of free apps are available to download and instal.   Glad to see that iPhones have now caught up.

It's definitely a SCAM, they called me a few weeks ago claiming that  I had an outstanding debt on my Gas bill, They  asked for my personal details( eg: name, date of birth. post code),  I got slightly suspicious  and told them that I wasn't prepared to disclose any personal data unless they could verify their legal status and entity. As soon as i said that, they put the phone down on me.
