Got called by some guy from marmalade. Missed the first call picked up the second, had a brief conversation with him and that was that. No bother really. Don't like being cold called but atleast this guy spoke English unlike most of them that I seem to get.
Oh, and Soph...calm. It's only an internet forum, don't get too worked up or your head might explode.

If they're really annoying you, why not go down to Ducie Street, manchester and tell them face to face to go shove their mobiles up their [***]!

This number has called me several times. They are a tele comms company trying to sell you mobile phone contracts or offer a deal on your current contract.

They are rude and persistent - the guy I spoke to was aggressive and said "I dont really care what you say" when I said that if they kept calling I would report them. Despite my asking to be removed from their calling lists so many times, they keep contacting me.

If you get unwanted calls from these people, you should keep a record of how many times they have called you then report them to the Information Commission (they are responsible for enforcing the data protection laws.

What they are doing is against data protection law. You should also check with your mobile service provider how this company has come by your details, if you did not give them permission to pass your details to a third party then they should not have (assuming thats where this company got your mobile number)

This number has called me many times and I answered first time and got hung up on. Ihaven't answered since. It is a computer system that only puts you through if someone is available. The charity thing should not be taken as an incentive to purchase from these people, no doubt they probably only give a fiver to charity in a year but that allows them to legally say they donate to Charity.

2 missed calls from these guys, answered call 3rd time. They're making courtesy calls to 3 customers to see how i'm finding their service. They have auto dialling - when there's a line free, the computer dials the next number and the next operator connects to the call, so if no one speaks there's no one free to take the call the computer's made to your number. Didn't try to sell me anything as i've recently upgraded. Didn't ask for any personal info, just asked about phone and price plan. Nothing sinister.

WHY DON'T WE ANSWER THE CALLLS? Hear me out!

Why don't we all at least answer the call then hang up? We might as well cost these companies money!!!! If we answer then they will get charged for being connected.
    I think it's a little satisfaction :)

The people at lovemarmalade.com are basically fast-talking conmen trying to flog mobile phone contracts. When they called me they did NOT tell me they were calling from lovemarmalade.com, in fact they did not even mention the name to start with, but said they were calling on behalf of Orange. In other words they are using the Orange name to try to gain credibility, even though their calls are in no way sanctioned or approved by Orange. That is what I mean by conmen.
I have reported them to Orange customer services, who took a dim view of what they are doing, and are currently investigating them.
I understand that the phone regulator OFCOM is showing great interest in this company too.
The reason people are getting so many calls is that, like so many other cold-calling companies these days, they use automatic dialling technology, and this is the reason that when you answer there is a pause before anyone speaks to you, or alternatively you find you are cut-off.
My advice is do not deal with this company. There are plenty of reputable companies you can deal with if you want to negotiate a new phone contract.
If they keep calling, just tell them to f*ck off, as I did. They will soon get the message.

Well I share your views in terms of the constant calling but that is not why I decided to take out the Contract.  I was actually looking for a new Contract and the deal they offered me was very good.  I would have to say at first I thought that it was a scam but I did a bit of checking first. I did receive my phone and I am quite pleased with it. Thank you marmalade.
