- Nan replies to rohit| 5 repliesThe police can do nothing. Report it to the UKBA.
- Vaidehi replies to Nan| 4 repliesHi,
I got a call from Mike Watson this morning. He said he is from UKBA.
He said I did not update Foreign citizenship number when I last came in UK.
So, I am considered as illegal immigrant now and need to pay the penaulty.
He knew the last two addresses I stayed at. He said they had sent a reminder
to that address but now the payment date has crossed and I will have to make the
payment today or they will take legal action on me. He asked me all my details like
passport number, visa number,NI number,PAN number,DoB,Fathers name,Husband's name etc.
He told me to stop working , get out and pay the penaulty of £630
as soon as possible.I was a fool to believe him and I went out on high street.
He searched nearby Western Union center for me. There were two but none of the machines
were working. Then he searched a third one which was far from my home. He suggested
me to take a bus. He also told me that I need to pay by cash.So I went to bank, withdrow
£630 and then went to Western Union center to make the payment.
He asked me to make two payments- one of £412 to Anirudh Mishra
and £208 to PR Bakshi In India. They had given correct address of British High Commision
in New Delhi,India. When I told them I dont have extra money to pay the transfer charges
of western union, he said he will adjust from the payment!!
All this process took 3 hours and For those 3 hours he was contineously talking to me.
Asking me my details, threatening me about the legal action.
He was pretending to speak to some legal advisor about my case.
I was so stupid to transfer them the money :-(
After I made this transfer, They pretend to generate CISA number for me and asked for my
driving license number.and again said its not working and asked me to pay
additional £1100.He said they will refund me £1533 after I made this payment as I hold all
the valid documents!! But thank god I did not make the second payment.
I suspect they hacked my gmail account :(
THIS IS FAKE CALL.DO not disclose your personal info. - Nan replies to VaidehiPlease report this to the UKBA as soon as possible. With your passport and visa details they can steal your identity.
- RichaThanks to Internet, I am saved of this harrassment. I got a call from this number today and on my cross questioning as to why would they need my number when UKBA has itself given it to me, he started threatning me saying my VISA would be cancelled and my stay would be declared illegal.......I had passed on my info baout my resident number to him but then he satrted asking my husbands name, where he works, my date of entry to country.and i got suspicious.UKBA has all this information, why should a solicitor need it for some case....
I hope nothing goes wrong. - Dhiren Raval replies to BD| 2 repliesI also got the mail Today 22-08-12 same thing ask me to pay £525, I didn’t pay them report the fraud against this. But I also provide my Passport & Visa detail. UKBA says for that you have to contact your Indian consulate. I am trying Indian consulate number but it’s not getting through any suggestions?
- SG replies to Dhiren Raval| 1 replyI also got a call from the same number just now and they gave me same stories. However, the lady on the phone got bit nervous when i asked her some questions - i think they assumed i am on a VISA but i have a UK passport. So when i asked her 'since when a UK citizen needs to fill a lending card?' she hanged up. Can't believe this scam is so widespread.

- Anita| 2 repliesI received a call from this number on 22nd Aug saying they were calling from UKBA and there is some case logged against me for not having a CISA number. So I will be deported back to my home country if I do not make a payment of £512 through Western Union.
Is this some sort of scam? - B| 1 replySame happened to me on 22nd august, some Michael Watson called and asked me to pay £523 or else I will be deported. He asked me to pay via Western Union and gave me an address as 351 Chankayapuri New Delhi India.
This is a scam for sure- Caller: 01614081201
- Disha replies to BTHIS IS A BIG SCAM. none of the UK government agencies request payments via Western Union. Also, UKBA does not have such penalty system. These ppl are stilling the money as well as the identity :-(
- NanAnyone who has given their information to these people should contat the UKBA urgently. With you passport and visa information they can steal your identity and commit crime for which you will be blamed. This information can also be given to terrorists

- Anolymous| 1 replyHi,
I got a call from the same number - 01614081201 and they asked me to make a payment of £700 by end of today to avoid deportation. They wanted to update my CISA number (no such thing!!!) and they said a letter was sent to notify me of this. This was a second warning call to process the CISA number (bollocks). I figured it is a scam after she (Cindy Parker) kept insisting on making the payment. When I couldn't make the payment at my country of birth, she asked me to make a payment via the nearest Western Union. I was not going to make a payment but I did give my passport and visa information (right at the beginning of the call). I just called the UKBA, they directed me to Action Fraud (03001232040) and I lodged a complaint.
Following this I contacted the CIFAS (03301000180)and registered for annual payment of £20. They protect you from any fraudsters trying to use your details to take loans, etc. I cannot help but think there is a connection here between the parties.
I also need to contact my national border agency and visa office to notify them about this incident.
I hope people find this useful and do not get trapped. My first fraud trap and its not a good feeling.
Thanks to UKBA, Action Fraud and CIFAS I feel a little safer. I am sure these fraudsters have it coming for them, what goes around comes around.- Caller: 01614081201
- anonymousi got the same call today asking for penalty. he has all my information such as my visa number, passport number, my address.. I reported this to UKBA Fraud Report System...Do i need to worry for something else??
- S replies to BDI did the same!
- BD replies to AnolymousHi,
I happened to give my passport and visa details as well.
Did you get in touch with the national border agency and visa office in India? Could you please give me their contact details? Thanks !! - DeepaliHi,
Guys I have received a similar call from Mr. Mike Watson. He repeated the same history which you guys have been through. I provided my visa details & passport details.
I realized it was a fraud when he asked for a western union transfer ... 99% of fraud happen with Western Union.
Regards,
Deepali- Caller: UKBA
