    Get Real
Lets be honest if we weren't in debt we wouldn't be being called by them would we??? If you actually take your heads out your [***] long enough you would realise they are not that bad. I spoke to them and they were really helpful I am still in debt but they accepted monthly installments and I no longer have to be worried about who is phoning me!!

I have just recieved a letter from this company SQN addressed to my mother and then they say in the letter that they are trying to contact my mother concerning an important matter and that they hasve used services of external agencies obviously to get my address and they wish to verify that they are contacting the right person They have asked for me to call their free phone number to discuss.
Free number which on my letter is 0800 980 0580.
After reading what people have said on here I will not bother to contact them as it sounds very dodgy.

I think that you all need to remember that there is what is called the Data Protection Act, which means that nobody is able to disclose personal information about others personal information without that person's consent. Second of all you have borrowed the money so pay it back no creditor is obliged to accept any install other than the full balance as you have defaulted with the credit agreement which is a legal binding contract! If everybody was to pay as agreed then the APR would not be so high & that the credit industry would not be so bad! Yes circumstances change & sometimes are very bad, but these people are there to help you but you need to help yourself first!

I hope everyone see's the irony in this, allow me to explain:
If you borrow money you have to pay it back
In the contract WHICH YOU WOULD HAVE SIGNED INITIALLY  upon opening the account it clearly states they can sell or give an account to an agency they please because you will have broken the terms of the contract
I presume that Equidebt cannot give out their company name as it has the word 'debt' in it which people (like your Mum or Spouse) may find upsetting (it's a case of helping you not being awkward)

Last but not least, if you didn't open the account in the first place and actually ead the contract you wouldn't be getting these calls.

Please feel free to bombard me with abuse, I know your only angry at yourselves for being such a burden on society.

    Rehards

    Your All Idiots . . . . .
After reading through the posts on this msg board it becomes more and more apparent that your all just bored, disgruntled, un-employed & in debt, & who are most likely paying their debts using their benefits (if your paying them at all that is) . . . . . . So, if you actually think about it, that would mean that the people from Equidebt who you claim are “harassing” you, are in fact paying your debts for you as well!
    How ironic!

You all clearly have no future in life with such a negative attitude to what most would call "financial difficulties" and a NON-UNDERSTANDING OF FINANCIAL MATTERS WHAT-SO-EVER and you have all had the benefit of the money so what gives you the right NOT to pay it back?

The worst thing you could do is ignore your debts which it appears the majority of the morons on this board are doing and in the current financial climate you should all be aware that banks will be doing whatever is in their power to recover their accounts and would not hesitate to issue you a CCJ or a Court Bailiff.

Any way, to all those idiots thinking that ignoring their debts will make them do a "Houdini" & disappear. . . . . . .

I'll leave you a beer each when you pick up my trash at x-mas!

    X

Reading through all the previous comments id say it looks like disgruntled SQN employess are posting comments and being paticularly rude about people with debts (which most people have at some point in their lives) maybe they are not meeting their targets and wont get their comission this month. what a shame..............get a worthwhile rewarding job not one working for what sounds like a back street debt collection agency.

I find it funny that those sticking up for this unprofessional company, 'Old Gregg' and 'Your All Idiots' (see 3 posts above), can't even spell "you're" or "sees" properly.

I regularly take calls from this company for a colleague and I wanted to see who they were.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Yeah, I received a letter from them today saying "we are writing to you because we are trying to contact [me], concerning an important matter. We have used the services of external agencies and, therefore, we wish to verify that we are contacting the right person. Could you please call us on freephone 0800 980 0670 to discuss".

Now.. I have changed my mobile number a couple of months ago, so they haven't managed to call me, but having said that, my husband keeps receiving calls from a similar number, they won't say who they are they just ask to confirm his date of birth and address, but he wouldn't give them his details so they hang up every time. I answered the phone last time, they asked to speak to my husband, when I asked them who they were, they said they are from an Identity Fraud Agency, then hung up!!

God I hate these people with a vengance!!!!!!

We should all go round their office and burn it!! lol (not really)

I had a message left on my mobile answerphone today, by a young woman's voice - 17th March 2009, which simply said "This is a message for Tracy. Please call me back on 01789 472119 - it's Kate".

Now since I have a niece called Kate, I knew this was not her number, but phoned it back anyway.

A male voice answered and just said "Hello?". I asked to speak to Kate and he said there was no one of that name there and hung up on me right away!!

I phoned them back after "googling" to find out who's number it was and spoke to a lady called Francesca.

She then proceeded to offer me a 50% reduction of my outstanding balance provided I could pay it there and then. She said the company could make such offers to people who had genuinely been making real effort to pay their bill on time each month.

This would have been most welcome - if I had not already settled my account on 4th March 2009 after receiving the same offer by a lovely helpful lad called Ben - and received written confirmation of a nil balance from them a few days later!!!!

After a few minutes of arguing back and forth about the outstanding balance, she eventually found details of my previous payment and did apologise for the mistake which meant the "system" was still showing I owed them almost £400 !!!

The lad who I dealt with on my first phone call with Equi-Debt was friendly, helpful and polite, a really lovely lad - which I have to say was a complete breath of fresh air coming from a debt collector.

What a shame the company has been let down by shoddy admin procedures which do not reflect up to date balance information - but is there really any excuse for it when everything is done by computer these days?

It's not like they have to type out notes and file them manually anymore is it? Such systems went out donkey's years ago and probably before half the workforce at Equi were even born lol !!!

I've never had to deal with one of these companies, and never will because I don't take out unsecured loans or use credit cards. Yes a lot of the people are just moaning unjustifiably, but Debt companies do get it wrong a lot, trying to get money that has already been claimed, and contacting people who don't even owe anything!!!

There's no need to be a douche about it, simply say that whoever they are if it is important they can write to you and either you or your solicitor will respond to it.

Neither do I - these companies are not only there to deal with credit cards or loans!

My debt of £520 on a catalogue was passed to this debt agent after I fell into arrears when I lost my job after suffering a broken back in a car accident.

Whilst I realise such companies are there to do a job by collecting payments, I do think their working practices are questionable -  and it is *that* most of those who they deal with object to.

Incidentally, since my previous post on this matter on 17th March 2009, I have received a further 8 calls offering me a reduction of my bill - when I have in fact now paid it off after receiving the first offer.

According to them, I still owe them money - although I have not received a further call since faxing them a copy of the letter they sent me confirming my bill was complete and closed!!!

    So many idiots....
Basically, if Equidebt dont have a written document WITH YOUR SIGNATURE ON IT, they are breaking the law by contacting you. Search ConsumerActionGroup (CAG) for ConsumerCreditAct 1974, and send them a request for your original agreement with a £1 Postal Order. If they dont supply it within 12 days, they default (as in, break the law & are forbidden from asking you to repay ANYTHING until they show you a signed document) ie: Case closed. Got rid of 4 DCA's this way, each time they apologise & 'pass the case back to our client' and i never hear from them again.

And as for all you morons saying 'you got into debt - deal with it' I sincerely hope you are hit by a bus, or lose your house, or job, or worse. Get some compassion you pathetic scum, not everyone can run to mummy and daddy for help !! Way to comment on something you know NOTHING about, you sad, bitter people.

got a call from these guys asking for my brother. told them wasn't available. asked if i could take a message, they gave me their number: 01789 472 119 and that his name was James Smith (a popular name if you ask me so raised a few eyebrows. No offense to any James Smiths out there). Asked what it was regarding and he told me he knows what it is about by looking at the phone number. Very iffy if you ask me.

    Your All Idiots . . . . .
    "Equirude",

you think we give a [***] about spelling mistakes??
also, unlikely they wrk for SQN as their jobs would no doubt be in question if their posts got caught on here. Maybe we're the disgrunteld ones with jobs paying your debts. And as for the people who are asking for "compassion" . . . . WTF are you on about??? You're (<----- note spelling [***]) clearly making no attempt to even discuss your debts with anyone that isn't on this board so why the [***] do you deserve compassion?

    Danny Barr
Love GOOGLE for searching - thanks to all how posted -:

A few months back I was contacted by a firm called CCS COLLECT – DEBT COLLECTORS – They would not say what the debt was so I wrote to them explaining that I owed nothing to no one unless they could provide evidence of such a debt – I was using a PO BOX and nobody has my current address. Guess what - NO RESPONCE!

Then mysteriously I receive a letter at my current 'TEMP' address! Nobody only the government has this address!!! If you challenge any alleged claims against you first establish where they got your PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL details from... Don’t accept excuses – you have a right to know!

The letter is from a: Mr P Foot
He signed the letter P Foot - SQN Services

Hey says... "We are writing to you because we are trying to contact 'Danny Barr' concerning an important matter."

"We have used the services of an external agencies and therefore wish to verify that we are contacting the right person."

    These are his phone numbers:
    Phone Number 1: 01789 473 797 (01789473797)
    Phone Number 2: 0800 258 5672 (08002585672

    This is his address:
Address: Equity House, Ettington Road, Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, CV35 9GA

Let me be clear. This firm have been passed PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL details from the Inland Revenue – DEPARTMENT FOR WORK & PENSIONS. I only have one debt and the debt was a grant for £100 in 1993. They contacted me about 5 years ago and I refused to pay and asked them back then where they got my private details from as I do not vote... they said they were on their computer system and I demanded HOW they got on there and said I would do a subject access unless they explained... the guy said they have access to all government computer systems which hold my private details and I said the government are in breach of their own privacy laws... I didn’t hear another thing until recently... Over 14 years ago and now this private firm! I don’t owe a bean to anyone. This government are playing dirty so watch out folks.
