i have recently had a letter too from sqn, all it states that they need to speak to me on an urgent matter. i phoned  the 0800 number and it just wanted me to make a payment!! for what i may ask!


someone should stop these companies from harrassing innocent people!

called my son twice on answer phone, gave ref 500043658. and refered to a person who had left his address 5 years ago.

I have never had any dealings with equidebt, but they cant be any worse than uk search. the person that phoned me was very understanding that i was not prepared to varify my contact details as i didnt know that they were who they were saying they were. he even gave me the phone number for the fsa, so that i could check equidebt out with them. as soon as i answered the phone he told me who he was and where he was phoning from, a very nice and polite person.

I just received a letter from the same people asking me to contact and verify it's me ... who exactly are these people and is it dodgy ....

Bella no they are not dodgy they are a legit debt collector. They trade by a few names and have various phone numbers. They mainly trade under the name equidebt and there are various forums about them one of them being http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=809567 . Most of the stuff you hear about them is bad news but you know the saying "no news is good news".

hi i paid a broker fee last year of £49 for a loan finders fee did not get the loan and have not been refunded. i have emailed them and phoned but to no avail. can you help?

These people called asking for my son yesterday, When I told them that "My 12 year old boy" was in school, they hung up.

I thought I would google the number to find out what fully grown man would be calling for a 12 year old, this is what I came up with.

I have read through every post on this board, and I have seen many people are sympathetic to others, however, to those few that are defending this company and it's practices, I feel that they are a little dodgy and perhaps they should look closer at the way they deal with people. To be asking for details of people before giving out any formal company details themselves is just wrong... And to be calling up pre-teens is even more wrong.

For any of those "equidebt-lovers" out there, my son owes nothing, he is under 18 and cannot by law enter into any binding contract, let alone get credit. Obviously these people do sometimes get it wrong, and how many of those times have they got lucky and had someone that actually owes nothing pay money?

Do you work for EquiDebt or have they paid you to say that?
They have used numerous other company names to chase me for more payments after an agreement was in place with SQN Services also another of their companies.
They constantly pass the agreement back and forth and constantly expect you to change your standing orders in the name of different trading styles as they put it.
I have many times had to go back to the original creditor to complain about them breaching the Administration of Justice Act by constantly harassing people.
They also have a nasty habit of not allocating payments for 3 months at a time and chase you for what you have already paid.
Other names they use to chase you for more money are Link Financial, Credit Link, and APEX Credit Management.

My boy who no longer lives at my address ran up masses of debt and these people phone, fax and Vanquis called at 8.08 a.m. one morning

I have started on Santander telling them in writing, recorded delivery that I don't know where he is and that the Police are tracking my calls as the phone is in my name - Santander don't call any more!!!! Funny that.

If you have a cordless phone and caller i.d. wait until they phone and turn the radio on full blast - that has got rid of loads of them for me!!!!

First of all this company will be in court for several misconducts.
My lawyer has already drafted up the paper work and I will make sure this company is made bankrupt.

i got a call from this company last week, they literally scared me to death saying i owed them money, i dont owe them anything, i have only just started using a pc so decided to put the name Equidebt in to see who they were and was shocked to read some of the statements some people have posted, the letter i recieved was from Wellesbourne Wawickshire telephone number, 01789473836 i can relax now i know the truth about this so called "company", its wrong that they can act this way.

Standard rules apply when dealing with Debt Collectors: Never answer the phone to them, never talk to them, if you accidently answer it put it down without further speaking, communicate with them if you have to only by writing.  This puts dealing with them on your own terms,not theirs.

Come off it idiots the only reason they are ringing you is because you owe debt credit cards finance etc so stop chatting [***] and pleading innocence you knobs

these vultures are debt collection companies.they are in the business of buying bad debt for pennies in the pound or maybe even not paying anything for them just getting details of unpaid debt which other lenders have written off.they then try to collect the full amount outstanding netting huge returns.
if you are in the unfortunate position of being chased by these vultures for unsecured loans,basically tell them to [***] off.they will even give you huge discounts of upto 80% if you agree to give them a lump sum or make monthly payments.once again tell them to [***] off.do not sign anything.ask to see the original credit agreement which they probably will not have anyway and without which they cant do [***].
if you havent made payment on a loan for over seven years and not made contact with these fkrs then it is spent and once again you tell them to [***] off.
or if you are in a position to pay then a reduced payment might not be a bad option but negotiate hard ask to see the original credit agreement,tell them you will pass it on to your debt advisors who will then get in touch with them.they do not like this as now the debt advisory service will be taking a cut too,but [***] them they have no feelings for you so you show the same disdain for them.
so by now you know my contempt for these [***].it all came about when i found myself in difficulty a few years ago.so i rang my creditor and asked if i could just make interest payments for a while.
i'll tell you what the [***] said - you better contact your solicitor.
now why the [***] would i want to pay solicitor fees aswell.
so lay low for 7yrs and its spent or go with a reduced settlement but do not let these [***] think they have power over you.

I always do the same thing with these berks.  Just say, "Who's calling?" - and, whatever the answer, say, "Hold on a minute", then put the phone down on my table, and leave it for ten minutes.  If they're still there after this time, say, "Who's calling?", and do the same thing again.  And again.  I *love* wasting the time of these people.  Fun!

How do you think they got your girlfriend's Mum and Dad's phone number? You must have given them that number as a contact number, or they would not have had it would they. DUMMY!!!!!

You should pay your debts, instead of coming on here, whining and making a complete prat of yourself.

Is it also "fun" to avoid paying your debts? Pay what you owe and don't be such a little crook. LOSER!!!!
