I got the same call about recovering bak charges. O2 told me that they get round the OFCOM rules by txting you so its not technically a sales call and they only call you if you are on TPS. Its a UK landline so at least you dont get charged!

Have just discovered that these people get numbers from a national database. Check your mobile contract without realising it you may have missed ticking the box to say that you dont want your number passed on to "partner" companies. If you bought your mobile over the phone call the company you bought it from and check with them that they do not have your permission to pass it on. If they didnt ask your permission you may have a case against them under the Fair Trading rules so CHECK CAREFULLY!

Just got a text with the same number on it (01792 473533) but slightly different message...

"DUE TO GOVERNMENT CHANGES, YOU MAY NOW BE ELIGIBLE TO HAVE ANY LOANS, CAR FINANCE OR CREDIT CARD BALANCES WIPED CLEAN.TO QUALIFY CALL 01792 473533 QUOTE REF R677

This was received from a mob no +44 7501494685.

I just got one from this lot claimimgn to be able to wipe out credit card loans and car finance due to new govt legislation.  I'm on 02 as well so go figure

I had a text from this number about wiping my debt clean due to government changes...... will not be calling as have no idea who they are and will not be wasting my time.

Well am afraid to say but O2 has defenatly something to do with this..... few days old phone....  I DONT KNOW my own number yet so how come they do ..............

I've had a text message from 07918907184 today  stating 'Due to Government changes,you may now be eligible to have any loans,car finance or credit card balances wiped clean.To qualify call 01792473533 quote ref r677 thank you.' looking at the above i'm sure there should be somthing more to stop this from happening.

Just got one of those texts stating if I called 01792 469374 a new government legislation could clear all my debts.

Didn't ask for it, don't know where it's from. I'm annoyed though so I'm going to contact Ofcom and my network Provider to complain.
