Can anyone tell me if this number :  0203 608 7941 is a genuine service number? It purports to be from Avast Total Support but since they have taken money from me to allegedly clean up my computer, I am unable to get through again for the so-called total support help desk.  I am worried it is very expensive to call and possibly a scam.

Did they cold call you and tell you there was a fault with your computer? Was the caller Asian with a Western name?  Did they claim that your computer had sent "messages" to them regarding the faults?  Did they claim any association with your broadband supplier or Microsoft.  If you answer "Yes" to any or all of these questions then you have been scammed.. If you gave them remote access to "fix" the nonexistent faults then you need to get your computer checked out as, not only have they stolen your money they may well have put spyware/malware on to your computer to steal your personal information.  For full details of what is probably the longest running scam on this website check out the Microsoft website.  Remember, no-one who cold calls you knows anything about your computer,  They are always scammers.

had a call from 020 3023 4500, turns out to be OMD (media advertising). Asked why I would be contacted as I am not a business and was told it might be personal advertising (?) and to wait for a ring back. Never got contacted for over a week so maybe just a mistake. Company itself seems legit possibly

Caution....... Never say yes, they record you saying it and sell the recording onto low life scammers. How do I know..... You got it :(

An 0203 number keeps calling me, I never answer because I know if answer they'll keep calling....

keep calling if you pick it up it then clicks off!!!  annoying!!!!

I installed a 30day trial from Avast, after the trial finished I decided to uninstall it, using 10bit however I am now getting pop ups prompting me to install the upgrade and I am well pi55ed off at this, also loads of crap left on my laptop. so I went on and typed in contact Avast and called the number and an Asian wants me to let him sort the problem out, well sorry aint no one I don't know getting remote access to my Lappy, where I have bank details.  I CALLED THEM FROM THE NUMBER ON THE NET  08007563341

Yup - you have been scammed....  this scam has been going on for years but has recently become even more popular! They use a lot of numbers starting with 0203... to make them look like London geographical numbers. Anyone in the world can use an 0203...  number, they cost about £4 per month and are typically used over VOIP systems like Skype. I block all 0203 numbers with a call blocker!

I also have been running Avast for years with no problems. Actually their boot scan picked up a real scam with Driver Update which is a product that I don't recommend at all. Avast  have brought out a clean-up  app which I thought I would run and so  paid for a year's scanning capability but the system would not allow me to register the  Activation code. After many attempts I gave up and will try to contact their head Office in Ireland.
Meantime, as detailed above,  calling their Support number also fails to render any meaningful results....no one answers. I will try again tomorrow bearing in mind that Ireland (GMT ) is 8 hours ahead of us here in Western Canada. Failing a response I intend to cancel the Visa payment. I don't think it is a scam because Avast has been on the go for years and, as far as I am aware they are  reputable. Their registration /Activation process is the most complicated and confusing process that I have ever used though!------Note I called them, no one called me.

0203 numbers are often provided with broadband packages for Internet based phone calls. It also means that they are not necessarily in London which is  020 8 or 020 7

Keep getting called by 0203 6958004 think it's to do with dealing shares.
They won't go away!!!!
