Received a call from this number who told me he was going to put me on a higher level to stop nuisance calls. I could hardly understand him because of his accent. Told him not to bother me and not to call again. My number is registered with TPS.

    Oh "Steve" you are funny!
Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls.  Nobody can track the down the phone number of the house in which a computer is operating.  So what you described does not happen.
    This is a well-known scam

Got a call from an unavailable number. They said they were a 'call prevention service' to stop nuisance calls and that they worked with the 'telephone preference service' and they gave me the number 02030510987 to call anytime. I was told that there was no charge for this lifetime service and should I receive any nuisance calls whatsoever I could report it to the number above. Although there was no charge for this service they wanted my bank details to set up a direct debit. I terminated the call at that time.

The name " GTech Support" belongs to GTECH - the people that make floor sweepers, vacuum cleaners and cordless garden equipment. I somehow doubt that they would have anything to do with trying to help people solve computer problems. take the caller from this number as 120% scam. DO NOT TRUST.

All I can say is that when this number rang me they never mentioned my computer, they were offering to 'register' me on a preferential telephone service to make sure that I didn't receive cold call callers. I said thanks but no thanks, why do people need to know if I own my own house in order to offer me a service. I do not recommend this number

Got a call from an annoymous number saying they are from a government backed scheme to block nuisance calls. Said her name was Nicole Wilson, although she was defintly Indian. Told me to phone the above number if I get these calls and they will prosecute the people making them. The phone line went dead and she rang me back. She then passed me on to her colleague, a man called Sam, who was also Indian. He started asking did I pay my phone bill by direct debit. The phone went dead again. Alarm bells started ringing and when the phone rang again I just ignored it. They tried ringing 2 more times, but I did not answer it. So it seems they have changed from pc help to telephone preference. Beware!!
