My dad had a call from these today but asked them to call back when I was around. They duly obliged.

The call was from an unintelligible Indian guy repeating the same thing about viruses on our computer which had been reported to our ISP (they couldn't say who it was). I knew it was a scam so said we didn't need their services, but they were very insistent. We asked them not to call back again and had to put the phone down.

These guys really need to be shut down as there are lot of people who could be taken in by these scam artists.

'David Moses' contacted me claiming that he was from 'Teamviewer.com' and told me that I had a virus problem. I foolishly believed him and parted with £40 for the laptop to be 'cleared'. This is a scam, do not give details over the phone.

Just had a phone call from the support line

Indian man wanted me to go to computer while on phone - told him it was in other room.

Said I had Anti virus so why had that not told me.

Kept saying my computer could crash.

Could barely understand him and next door's car alarm going off did not help.

Finally said that I would get it checked out locally.

When I did 1471 after the call they said they did not have a number to tell me.

I've just had the same calls two days running. After the first one I really regretted having put the phone down, and wished I'd run a virtual machine to see what they try to do. They called back today and I led them on as long as possible.

As someone with a PhD in computer security, I can absolutely guarantee that this is a scam.

Even if it weren't a scam, allowing a random stranger to have access to your computer on the basis of a phonecall is going to end up with you being scammed eventually.

Following up on my last message. When the person came rang me back for the third time, after I asked him to give me a few minutes to answer the door, I asked him why I had had two names given for his company ("Support Online Company" and "Comstep Ltd."), and why he was doing what he was doing. I told him that no online support company would be monitoring errors on the Internet, as you wouldn't be able to do that technically, and that they wouldn't just cold-call people. No reputable company would ask you to install remote administration software.

I asked if he was proud of scamming people out of their credit card numbers, and whether his family would be proud; whether his mother and father would be proud.

As you can understand, he got quite angry with me and accused me of playing a game with him. In the end he told me that not only his family would be proud, but all his citizens and that he was just helping people with their computers. I asked if he meant the citizens of the UK, as he had told me that that was where he was based. At that point, he hung up.

Please, please believe me. This is a scam through and through.

Hi,i have had numerous calls from companies ,one in particular ,COMPSTEP LTD stating that my pc had viruses & errors & they could fix it for me,i did get roped in...but i sent TEAMVIEWER an e-mail stating that i had changed my mind after paying £40.00.I received an e-mail from the company apologising for this & i was refunded my money.ANYONE who reads this please contact TEAMVIEWER who are based in Germany & hopefully get your money back.I was also told i should buy windows 7 at £199.00 but declined,i am very wary now of phone calls that i get from Asian speaking people as they often ask for payments of some kind or other, please be aware of these people & take care.

I think that thesupportonline has never taken the route of telemarketing so how would they be calling anyone to take up their support package. I have heard a lot about this well reputed company. Believe me anything is possible in this competitive world

I have been reading these kind of comments every day now. These telecalling mess can take place with anyone and one should not blame thesupportonline only. I think any other person with hatered against the company is involved in these activities.

I believe in thesupportonline. I am sure they would be investigating this problem as they are not behind it. If this call would have come to me, I would never have believed.

I am getting irritated of the comments taking up the issue of unwanted calls from thesupportonline. I myself subscribed to their service and they never called me themselves.
